How has Star Wars changed the world? Kottke has found this brilliant chart which was created by WiReD a few years back.

And yet there are still idiots who call George Lucas a 'talentless hack'. After all these things he either created or laid the groundwork for... what more do you need? Thanks George, some of us appreciate ya!

After so many turds I'm kinda sick of anything Star Wars now.

And this looks more like how Lucas changed the world, not exactly Star Wars.

Also, the connections are rather poor. They should have mentioned people that became famous or started their career working on Star Wars or a related thing, not people that at some point ended up working on Star Wars-related stuff. Like Genndy Tartakovsky, for example, who had already done Dexter, Powerpuff and Samurai Jack and was quite well-known before working on Clone Wars. What exactly has Star Wars changed or improved about him? A lot of the other names thrown around are the same - just people who at some point worked on something related to Lucas or Star Wars. If these two never existed not much would have changed for a lot of the people mentioned. It's more of a "six degrees of Star Wars" than how Star Wars changed anything.

I am a long time Star wars fan, and this looks awesome.

    @ Goobity

I appreciate Mr. Lucas for his contributions to cinema like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, THX-1138, and American Graffiti.
But recently he has lost whatever talent he used to have. Nowdays he spews out crap like the prequel trilogy (for the most part anyway), Indiana Jones 4, and that god-awful peice of shit Clone Wars.
I, and others, are not trying to demean all the good that George Lucas did... we are simply angry that he is destroying his once great legacy. Very angry.

@ A Better Class: That's my point, really. Trust me, I'm very let down by GL's work as a writer and director since the 'prequel era'. Very. I'm still pissed about the Ewoks. :)
However, his contributions to cinema as a whole go far and above what anyone else has done. THX, Skywalker Sound, ILM and even his recent campain to push film into the digital age with advent of HD digital cameras, etc...the list is really endless (see the chart!).
Every invention wasn't his, but he put the right people with the right ideas and pushed the envelope to allow these visions to become real. Sure, some of his films and ideas suck. Seen Radioland Murders? Well, don't. :)
I can't think of a single film-maker who hasn't made a bomb. But the contributions he's made toward the production, execution, and presentation of movies is what will be his true legacy.

That was lame! You could pick any movie from 30+ years ago and make random connections to other Hollywood productions. Lucas worked FOR Coppola on Finnan's Rainbow years before THX 1138. Do your homework.
