28 Days Of Movies

/Film editor Peter Sciretta is about to embark on a 28 day trip that will span three film festivals - Telluride, Toronto, and Fantastic Fest. This is the first of a series of video and photo blogs that will be filed over the course of the trip.

Don’t worry, /Film news coverage will not come to a grinding halt. Hunter Stephenson, David Chen and Devindra Hardawar will be filing updates through out the day. I will also post when time allows, so keep checking back.

Rock on, Peter! I can't wait to see your coverage of the festivals. Be safe and remember: if you're not having fun, then you're doing something wrong!

    Bye Peter!
    Have fun!

Oh yeah, also, I hope you got the email I send you with the poster :o

Hmm, I see at the minimum, 3-4 new movies a week, on the weeks when lots of movies are released I can watch an upwards of 7-12 movies, now thats just ridiculous. Unfortunately half the movies I watch aren't great, but mean a lot to me watching different cinematic adventures and learning what works and what doesn't as well as following some nutty stories, and some snoozers.

Now I have a nightly ritual of watching a Wes Anderson flick, some movie Charlie Kaufman wrote the screenplay for, or for that matter I Heart Huckabees and Life Aquatic are my 2 most watched movies. Hey seen them hundreds of times now, and can fall asleep to them easily, unfortunately the only way is having my TV on otherwise I just lay there in the dark contemplating the next days duties/adventures!

Hope you have plenty of updates Peter, would love to get some insight into some movies playing at the festival, and see whats going to be coming out in the next year or so.

Do one of the videos drunk, like, REALLY drunk
  • I've always been curious about Telluride - would love to see some reportage about the atmosphere there & how many hour/minutes before a screening does one know what he/she are about to see.

Drink plenty of water! Take plenty of pics/videos!
  • Personally I've seen at least 70 movies theatrically this year (maybe 100, maybe more) and god knows how many at home, but hey, that's just me.

Am I the only one who immediatly thought of 28 Days Later?
  • kpong
No, i thought there was going to be a tie into with 28 days/weeks, too.

Devindra Hardawar!! Awesome, its about time.

Also, Peter, where'd your neck disappear too? I KID, i kid. Seriously, though, this is a great idea and is yet another reason i keep coming back to /film.

I think i've seen 12 movies so far this year: Speed Racer, Red Band, Indy4, IronMan, Hulk, Wall-E, Hancock, Hellboy, Batman, StepBros, Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder ... with at least another five coming up!

    @Peter

Don't forget to check out all the local bars and restaurants in Toronto!! Great places to hangout after the showings...

@ T-1337: Nope. I'm hoping that Peter's first post when he returns is titled "28 Days Later."

Look out for the zombies, Pete!
  • Matt
*does the wave for future content*
  • I have seen 325 movies this year so far
  • Anyone else think Peter Scrietta looks like Grimmace from McDonalds?

    So Peter,

As cool as it sounds to attend all those events, I wouldn't be up for it because seeing so many movies in such as short amount of time would totally kill the movie-going experience for me. I wouldn't have time to savor anything and it would all kind of melt together, therefore negating the whole trip in the end. Not to mention being exhausted from all the travel would fry my brain.

How do you deal with this? Does this phenomenon happen to you?

    Hope you have fun anyway!
  • Vin
    Devindra is posting now? NICE.
  • peter. have fun. im jealous. excet for the whole travelling thing... you guys keep up the good work, love the site.
