Another storm trooper failure from a new hope is that guy that decided not to "waste" a laser on a fleeing escape pod that contained C3p0 and R2d2 just because it did not show any life readings.
Allthough I am pretty sure that he is not a storm trooper, I think it might be one of those guys with big black helmets.
