Edward Scissorhands is the best of the Burton stuff, but Elfman has done some things lately that show he is stretching his "palette" (The Kingdom / Wanted), so there is no telling what you are going to get for this film.

Big Fish has some great stuff as well.

Edward Scissorhands is definitely his best. One of the most beautiful scores ever composed. But I've actually been a big fan of Elfman for awhile. Always does something interesting with his scores. Don't understand all the flack he gets (besides not being classically trained).

I am a fan of Elfman, but you are right he is certainly hit or miss. I'm not a huge fan of his Spiderman work, for instance. I couldn't even hum you the theme if I wanted to.

I love his work on several films, though, including Batman, Beetlejuice, and Nightmare Before Christmas.

My favorite? Beetlejuice.

His score for Emilio Estevez's WISDOM is awesome. Plus it is one of Elfman's few scores that avoids the 'Oompah-Oompah' gothic carnival style.

Nightmare Before Christmas is a good call. I think it's a modern musical masterpiece. He should have won many awards. A few of those songs are more memorable than any Christmas music made in the last 25 years. I'm surprised Disney hasn't put together a Broadway show based on the film. It would be huge.

Danny Elfman is onr of the greats, so it's tough to pick, though Batman is one of his most memorable, wwhile Edward is one of his most beautiful for sure.

Danny's the best when it comes to creepy and unique soundtracks, but too me he's the lead singer of a little So Cal group called Oingo Boingo. They were big back in the 80's.

If your a fan of his cinimatic stuff give a listen to "Dead Mans Party".
Prob their best album.
"Nothing to Fear" is also great.
