Michael Fassbender Cast in Inglorious Bastards

Michael Fassbender, who played Stelios in 300, is now in talks for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming World War II film Inglorious Bastards. Fassbander is German and speaks the language fluently. So lets recap: Brad Pitt is signed on to star. Mike Myers and Eli Roth are also on board, and Nastassja Kinski, David Krumholtz and B.J. Novak are still in talks to join the cast.

    This cast is coming together very nicely and the scripit is very good, so this could turn out to be very good indeed.

    “insurmountable schedule difficulties”

    Translated: "I'm not going to be in this movie because it looks like a steaming pile."

    Really I heard he might be offered the "Jew Hunter" role...considering he does speak German fulently
  • Christopher: Variety seems to say that Michael Fassbender is taking Pegg's role:

    "Teutonic thesp Michael Fassbender is in final negotiations to join the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s "Inglorious Bastards." Simon Pegg had been in talks for the role (Lt. Archie Hicox), but was forced to ankle after what he described on his website as "insurmountable scheduling difficulties.""

    Am I wrong?

    @Peter

    Well it would make more sense for him to play a German role, QT hasn't cast one single German yet...it's kind of getting annoying since he's been in Berlin meeting with actors/actresses for a while now...Although Michael does a lot of British work, I would take what Variety says about any "in talks" news with a grain of salt... he may be meeting with the IB people and could be reading for multiple roles..

    Also, you guys just reported that Krumholtz was replaced by Samm Levine. Now you're saying the opposite because Variety still is or you forgot?

    One could imagine that "Inglorious Bastards" is going to be one of Tarantino's best films. Fassbender is an obvious candidate for any position as a Nazi member. Though, the idea that he speeks German is of no immediate consequence, seeing as how Fassbender is portrayed as a "hero" in "300." I believe he would make an excellent "all-or-nothin'" kind of guy within the exclusive "inglorious bastards." His possible consideration would best conclude playing a role that audiences would associate as a "heroic" role. All in all, Fassbender was great in 300 and Tarantino's "Inglorious Bastards" is a strong enough script to place such a candidate at any position (granted french lessons). I am personally looking forward to '09.
