David Zucker’s An American Carol Movie Trailer

Fox News has the trailer for David Zucker’s new political comedy An American Carol. This looks like a higher budget version of Uwe Boll’s Postal, which is sad since Zucker was once the mastermind behind Airplane! Tell me what you think in the comments below!

An American Carol is a comic retelling of A Christmas Carol, but instead of Ebenezer Scrooge, we have a cynical, anti-American documentary filmmaker named Michael Malone (extremely subtle), who sets out on a crusade to abolish the July Fourth holiday with his film Die You American Pigs. On the fourth of July, he is visited by three ghosts who tey to show him the meaning of Independence, instead of Christmas. Chris Farley’s brother Kevin Farley stars as the filmmaker, alongside Kelsey Grammer as General Patton, Jon Voight as General Washington, Leslie Nielsen as himself, Bill O’ Reilly as himself, Dennis Hopper, and James Woods. Vivendi Entertainment is releasing the film on 2000 screens on October 3rd 2008.

That looks REALLY funny. Much better than that Disaster, Disaster Movie
  • Sam R.
Funny that you mentioned David Zucker, Peter. I just used "Airplane" as an example of a parodical work done right in a comment to sir jorge under "Batman's New Batmobile". XD
  • Chris
Don't give him that much credit, Jerry Zucker and Jim Abrahams had a lot to do with Airplane! too.
  • Uhh...Could have been worse. I think I'll still see it (dollar theater or rental), just because someone's gotta satirize the far left. I just wish it was sharper. Come on, Parker and Stone! Make a Team America sequel or something!
  • Sam R.
    Point taken. :)
  • kylefresh
    painful!!!
  • sounds horrible.
  • radiantarchon
sounds great. michael moore needs to get made fun of more. most of his films make uwe boll look like a genius (the columbine one was sort of okay).
  • Uncle Kletus
Haw Haw Haw All the middle Eastern people are called Muhammed.
Haw haw haw and they all have the same last name ha ah I love satire.
  • John
Did anyone notice that the "Master of Movie Satire" statement was a direct quote from David Zucker himself?
  • Finally, the vapid political jokes of 2003 - in 2008!

David Zucker should confess to living under a rock, and admit that he got brain damage from the rock hitting him.
  • pete
Can't support any project that pays Bill O-Reilly , sorry.

    Pathetic timing.
  • Nick R
I was hoping this would look much better. But oh well. I'm just incredibly happy someone has decided to finally mock the out of touch with reality far left and the completely retarded michael moore. God I hate him.
  • NIdWId6I8
Agreed...anything that Bill O'Reilly supports is a guaranteed bad idea...except maybe phone sex...yeah phone sex is alright.
  • Michael Carrig
A lot of big time Hollywood conservatives in this one.
  • orange cinema
Liberals & conservatives can finally unite behind the fact that this just looks like a really bad movie.
  • The Walrus
geez this even makes Swing Vote look good...
  • Pentarix
Wow what a steaming pile of shit. I can't believe some people said that this looks good!?
  • Graniteman
I can't wait to see this film. Can liberals stand the heat? The only possible flaw in this film is that poking fun at Michael Moore is too easy.
  • Jmoney
Am I dreaming or was that Robert DeNiro sitting beside the guy talking about finding suicide bombers?
  • CJ
ya that is alot of conservatives inone movie
  • Erin
I think it looks fun and refreshing. It's about time someone had the guts to spoof the left and I think that Americans really want to be able to laugh off some of the cynicism that has poisoned our culture since 9/11 (what I mean is, that we have been told by Moore, Hollywood and the media to feel guilty and embarrassed about our country). This film may not contain some of the most high- brow humor, but at least it's a step in the right direction in terms of lightening up on the political correctness.
  • Bob
looks better than most crap spoof movies these days
  • Jonesy
Id be interested in seeing this (I cant stand Michael Moore), but I cant stand blowhard Bill O'Reilly either. I dont like the far-left or the far-right.
  • Steve
I haven't laughed so much at a trailer since Spy Hard. I just hope I'm close to one of the measely 2000 theatres!
  • ezekial
The movie doesn't even seem like a spoof.

Oh well, as long as it is funnier than Date, Epic, Spartan, and Disaster Movie, I'm fine with that.
  • Chromey
    @ Jonesy

    I'm with ya buddy.
  • FuelHokie
That was actually pretty funny, I expected less after reading the article. It's good to see a movie that is not led by the far left no offense to those people but its a good to balance that out which is benefit for everybody.
  • AheadOfTheCurve
    This movie needs an enema!
  • Klunni
    Now that's slapstick!
  • Jintro
Bleh. doesn't seem very inspired to me. Then again, I'm European, so I suppose I'm prejudiced =')

Has anyone in the Moore-hater camp actually seen, say, Bowling for Columbine? If not, see it. The man has some pretty accurate things to say. And I agree, he's not the most subtle or intelligent being on the face of the earth, but he touches on some things that needed to be touched on.
  • Jon
Opposing torture is not "political correctness".

This movie looks like a crock of Bill O'Reilly's loofa scrubbings--slimy. Looks about as funny as Disaster Movie, Epic Movie and Date Movie combined. If the prints were stolen and burned to cinders.

And America really is screwed up if they think something needs to balance out the mythical "far left". We've got center and reactionary in this country and a handful of heroic oddballs like Russ Feingold, Dennis Kucinich and Ralph Nader who are trying to put up some firewalls between you and the people who will poison you or kill you to make a buck. You'd have better luck balancing out unicorns. If you truly want to "balance out the far left", try using a paperweight. Christ, get a sense of perspective. There hasn't been a left since the eighties.
  • nope
Moore IS a blowhard, BUT this movie looks absolutely terrible, and bill o'rielly is one of America's worst human beings. FUCK IT, WE'LL DO IT LIVE
  • peter
    Er...this looks...er...

Running joke "...so like Michael Moore is fat and uh, coutry mus stars like America more then him!...yeah!..er..
  • J.D.
BiG FAiL. Obviously, this movie is not seeking to get liberals at the box office. They hope that conservatives will flock to the movie because it is one of the FEW movies that mock liberals.

Unfortunately for the filmmakers, most conservatives don't think that Moore's anti-Americanism is just a "joke." They don't find suicide bombers to be "comedy." So not too many conservatives will go to the movie either.

    Result is failure.
  • Bobcat
    @ Jintro -

I'm from Colorado and had a relative die at Columbine. Moore's "documentary" hardly has "some pretty accurate things to say"... it's a crock and rather disgusting at that. But maybe I'm biased, ha.
  • Diane
Love the trailer - can't wait to see the movie! Great cast! I worked with Moore years ago on a project - he's probably one of the worst people in the U.S.A. He is a total ego-maniac. He says he makes documentarys but that is a joke. He doesn't know the meaning of the word - if he did - his movies would be completely unbiased - giving both sides equal time and letting the viewers make their own decision as to what they believe.
  • duca
Maybe it's because I'm Canadian, but I just don't 'get' it. I didn't even crack a smile during the trailer. I actually found a lot of it offensive, although that could again just be me not 'getting' the humour...? How is perpetuating negative stereotypes about lesbians and Middle Eastern culture a good thing for your society?

I suppose the main things is why the hell would I watch a movie that would consist of two hours of "America is NUMBER ONE!!! EXTREME!!!"? Yeah, I think I'll pass.
  • Harrison and Steve
a film about michael moore jokes ? in 2008? with bill oreilly?

this ...will... bomb. conservative movies never win at the box office

cant wait for keith olberman to destroy this.
  • Bull
C'mon David Zucker, this does not look funny at all. Kevin Farley? Jesus.
  • Roberto
    F-L-O-P

Looks VERY stupid. So now we got stupid shit coming from the left AND right. So basically, we're screwed.
  • I will see this at least once, if not several times. It's about time someone made a decent film with a budget lampooning the left. We've had several left-biased movies just last year (rendition, lions for lambs, stop-loss, Elah, Grace is Gone, etc etc) , time for some balance!
  • Slipstream
Dennis Hopper is a busy man of late. He seems to have a lot of films coming out and events to attend. I just got his voice on my GPS from Navtones.com. Is there anything this man can’t do?
  • Paul
Hahahaha! right on the bull's eye! if the far left wimps can have movies like lions for the lambs, moore's Fahrenheit, etc., and got away with it, then this movie is to even the playing field a bit... no one can force the left loonies from watching this nor can we stop them from criticizing it, but hey, it's a democracy you morons. you dont have to believe, but at least some of us will be laughing! =)
  • Larry
I had the perk of seeing a rough cut of the film last month, at a test screening. While not the funniest film ever, there were a number of times during which I spontaneously roared with laughter and burst into applause. For context, my views are largely center-right. I was invited to the screening because I like Dennis Prager and in fact run a monthly Prager listener group. The test audience were pre-selected and were likely all or nearly all right of center; they had a strong positive reaction. The film's viewpoint is that America is a remarkably good place, compared with countries around the world and down thru history. Especially memorable is the depiction of ACLU lawyers as night-of-the-living-dead zombies, overrunning courtrooms and police checkpoints, proceeding to corrupt the law and neuter the people who protect us from bad guys (until the zombies have their heads blown off, of course!) I predict that the film will be enjoyed by everyone not far left, and that the film will do well enough.
  • Tim H
I've always had my qualms about Michael Moore, but if he winds the wingnuts up so much that they make a whole film about him, he must be doing something right. Can you imagine if a liberal made a film like this, all about Bill O'Reilly or Ann Coulter say? The punditocracy would be screaming bloody murder.

    AheadOfTheCurve Says:

    August 15th, 2008 at 9:56 pm

    This movie needs an enema!

Well that would certainly eliminate all liberal influence.
  • Kay
It's about time someone gets even with Michael Moore and his lies. Way to go conservative Hollywood....can't stand it can you liberals????
  • LN
This movie looks hysterical! And the funny thing is, Michael Moore literally has no clue how riduclous he sounds and one easily fogets until you have a well-written satire to remind you that, yes, he IS easy to laugh at! I mean, come on, the line where the Moore character says, "I love America. That's why it needs to be destroyed." That's the irony of how the loony left thinks.
  • Stephen K. Trynosky Sr
The left never has had a sense of humor. They're all a wee bit too serious over there but then again, they are the only ones who "care" who "feel the pain" . All us reactionary neanderthal conservatives will never get it, will never see how bad this country really is and how much better the world would be without us. All I can say is if your idea of a hero is Michael Moore, a man who actually enjoyed making fun of an ill Charlton Heston, there is no way you would ever give a movie like this a fair shake. To the left there can be no deviation from the party line. Authoritarians never change!
