[...] Slashfilm has some very lovely concept art from The Princess and the Frog. I gotta say that I love the more traditional feel that this film brings to the increasingly tired genre of animated features. It’s very refreshing. [...]

After seeing these concept arts and the first glimpse of Prince Naveen...or Levine..or whatever (the fourth picture down), I have to say I am BEYOND excited about this movie coming out! ^___^ I'm sure it'll be wonderful and such a great homage to the wonderful 2D animation that did so well in the mid and late 90's. Disney can definitely come back with this. *nods* I can't wait for this, and I know in my heart Tiana will be an inspiration to all little girls, not just Black Americans. ^_^

Great concept art! I just found out some new info about the film, so if you do not like spoilers then do not proceed to read what I am about to reveal. It has officially been announced recently on another website by the film-makers that the Prince will no longer be known as Naveen but Levine. Prince Levine? I personally like Naveen better :)

i always thought Pocahontas, Jasmine and Esmerelda were quite tasty! they are women of color, the white characters never did anything for me.

But Disney sure does know how to create some fine looking dudes, Aladdin, John Smith, Tarzan, Kocoum!

@Chris, Samantha, and everyone else

I completely agree, I think what makes the 2D movies the greates is the soundtracks. To this day I can listen to any song from Lion King, Pochantas, The Little Mermaid, Hercules, and still be amazed by them. I couldn't name one song from any of these pixar movies then maybe "Life is a highway" from Cars but that doesn't hold nothing to the classics. Man, just thinking about those make me seem old and im only 19.

If we've learned anything from Miyazaki films it's that 2 d is alive and well! In the end it's all about the story. Pixar is great BUT it's not killing 2d movies, if pixar puts out a crap movie...doesn't matter how it looks nobody's gonna see it. If this movie is gonna be as good as the concept art then it'll shup up those haters ^^ up there

I'm crazy excited for this film, and these images are just plain beautiful. There's something about 2-D animation that 3-D just can't top, in my opinion. Disney 2-D films are so popular and so loved because they didn't just have "good special effects", they had great animation, stories, music, backgrounds, and really believable characters.

I'm really hoping that this movie brings back the hand-drawn animations. In my opinion, you can do much more with a pencil than a computer.

This looks great. YES - Pixar is about as close to a modern deity in terms of animation these days. That said, it will be a breath of fresh air to see a good 2-D animated venture by Disney. Sure, its not traditional (as in 9-Old Men traditional), but it should be a quality animated/musical experience. I'm looking forward to it.

FINALLY! A 2D animated Disney film, I am tired of (and over) all the CGI knockoffs of Finding Nemo since 2003. They all looked the same. Hopefully this will do well.

don't remember sleeping beauty or Snow white sporting that kind of junk in the trunk.

I am feeling alright about it. With the exception of the firefly the character design is looking fine. The only thing that is really getting my goat is the lighting/shading style that looks very digital (seen in the trailer).

I am actually completely excited just for the chance to see Disney's return to the musical format. I can't even begin to describe how many of the 90s movies I memorized music for as a child. It will be absolute icing on the cake if the animation turns out anywhere as good as the concept art.

For the record, The Lion King and Finding Nemo sit pretty for me up there in the animation top two, with Wall-E coming close.

I'm pretty damn excited about this. Maybe it is a princess. I don't care. I am pretty tired of all these 3D movies. Wall-E was amazing. My favorite from the 3D bunch, but I love 2D. You tend to appreciate the artwork. The palettes used.

Someone said there were many 2D disney movies that have been overlooked due to them "churning" them out. Has anyone actually watched all the 3D movies? There are like tons I haven't even seen. Tons that are coming out. Most look so very uninteresting as well. Don't dog disneys 2D!
