I always thought that Pitt could only make good movies with Fincher...I hope QT proves me wrong
  • Whiskey
    Oh, fuck yes.
  • Danny
double fuck yes. the news on this movie gets better and better.
  • Jmoney
i'm actually more worried about this casting than the previous two that were revealed.

Pitt has started to look/sound the same in the last few movies he's been in
  • mudywaters
Pitt is gonna be awesome in this. I'm just worried about Eli Roth and BJ Novak...

    OMG I CANT WAIT !!!!!

    I love Brad...

    and Quentin to an extent...

I really hope Roth and Novak do a good job in this.

"Pitt has started to look/sound the same in the last few movies he’s been in"

He has always played Brad Pitt, he can't fucking act.
And twenty bucks says he does some sort of hand gestures to destract you from his bad acting. Course I'll have to take someones word for it.

Exactly. I never understand why he gets cast in so many movies . He's a tabloid star and doesn't he have like 20 kids to babysit by now?
  • gah

    And @ Janine

How was 12 Monkeys just playing himself? No one until Heath Ledger played a maniac better than that performance. I thought like you did until that movie came out and I was sold on Pitt. Pitt has an oneriness to him that can be seen in Fight Club, 12 Monkeys and Jesse James. He's a bit of a mixture between Robert Redford and Jack Nicholson.
  • I have no idea why this movie is getting the buzz it has been. Don't get me wrong I like Tarantino, but really can somebody tell me why there is anticipation for this thing?
  • Adam
    Exactly.

Aside from the glory years (14-16 years ago, if I may be so bold), QT's critical and commercial clout has steadily been on the wane. One suspects that Jackie Brown may have had something to do with that- he could have done anything.

Anyway, post-Death Proof, I don't see why there's such a clamoring for this movie- his own fanbase abandoned him last year when he wanted to put out an exploitation flick, and I see it happening again next year.

I have no idea why Brad Pitt would want to do this- after Jesse James and Benjamin Button (OT: alliterated names in titles seem to appeal to him), he could become one of the better dramatic actors out there. Instead he's making this. What for?

Yeah, the hand gestures (lol)...and don't forget stuffing his face with food in every scene.

    @ lando

i think it's because we are in the middle of the times where a 'movie experience' extends beyond just the two hours in a theater. since you are on this site, you are reading articles/comments by people who enjoy sharing rumors, gossip, castings, tidbits, facts, trivia etc. the summer of 08' is the perfect example of what the fanboy buzz power can make (tdk, ironman) or break (speed racer)

on top of all this, tarantino is a fanboy who became a legendary filmmaker, so we all got a special place for him. when he came onto the scene, he really sparked some of the early stages of all this fanboy stuff we are in the heat of right now. (full tilt boogie is kind of an example of his dorkiness that we can all relate to - except we don't get to hang with clooney)
  • orange cinema
btw, simon f-ing pegg?!?! that would be epic. i just hope 'the world's end' doesn't get pushed back.
  • wow
I love all the jealousy in this room.

suck it up babies, it's a shame we all can't be good looking males and fucking hot millionaire woman. must be awful.

    failures.

    this is great news.
  • Zachary Swiderski
The only movie that Quentin Tarantino was involved with that should be watched is True Romance. Everything after that has sucked horribly.

Also, only Jews?!? Fuck that. I'd rather see Fred Williamson back in there.
  • Fred
You forgot Nasstasja Kinski as the German actress.
  • loblaw
    @ Adam,

i believe qt has mentioned inglorious bastards years ago, around the time his reputation was at its highest. the idea of a wwII revenge picture i think appealed to a lot of film fans. flash forward, to present day and qt's popularity has declined, but even though, there's still a considerable curiousity surrounding this project.

and btw, i consider myself to be part of qt's fanbase, but i didn't abandon him post-Death Proof, as you put it. i actually loved it.

anyways, inglorious bastards has long been considered, if ever made, to have the potential of being qt's return to form (i.e. a pulp fiction or reservoir dogs caliber film). so why wouldn't brad pitt want to be involved with that? besides, the handful of sites that did review the script gave it favorable to excellent reviews. i don't see why pitt's involvement would be so hard to believe...
  • Dylan
Could this become Tarantino's best movie?
  • gah
Considering Tarantino has never worked with A-listers before (besides DeNiro, but does Jackie Brown even count?) this should be an interesting experiment. I know Tarantino is known as a career reviver, I'm just sad it didn't work out that way for Kurt Russell in Death Proof.
  • I think Brad Pitt is perfect for the role.
  • Captain Awesome
“Pitt has started to look/sound the same in the last few movies he’s been in”

You should probably watch the Assasination of Jesse James and his upcoming role in Benjamin Button. He was also great in Jackass :D
  • moulie
Simon Pegg!! Hell yeah...enjoying the casting so far, sans BJ Novak.
  • gocitizen
underrated actor. I think Pitt will do very well in a Tarantino world.
  • Matt
Glad to hear Brad Pitt is on board!

PRAYING FOR Simon Pegg to be cast!
  • h2opr00f
Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Simon Pegg, the guy from Numb3rs.. I actually like the choices Tarantino is making and am interested in who else he is looking at..
  • Albert Brodsky
    Player haters.
    Kalifornia
    Fight Club
    Twelve Monkeys
    Snatch
Yeah, those were the exact same character.
Brad Pitt is a great actor.
  • Rory
    I love simon pegg
  • The Jezzus
    Bwahaha!

Let the the guilt reign down on you maggots when QT melts your face with this flick.

You haters are going to be swallowing the same shit you been spewing.

If only you were required to post your top five movies of all time whenever you hate on a modern day film genius. Just so we can get an idea exactly why....Seriously, why?

Everyone of these castings has more than enough potential, and QT could outcast anyone alive. Period/
  • diesel
this is great news, hopefully this means a revival for qt. but i thought pitt's character was speaking french as well. haven't read the entire script though.
  • J'osh
Are you guys actually refering to the fact that he played himself in the Ocean's movies. I can get behind that, but one could argue that each cast member but Cheadle did the same thing.

Kudo's to Albert Brodsky above for stating the obvious. This has gotta be left-over pretty-boy hate.
  • Jmoney
    Albert Brodsky,

i agree those movies are great and Pitt is a great actor. i was talking more recently with Mr. & Mrs. Smith and the Ocean's movies. i havn't seen Jesse James and Button looks good so I could be wrong. Don't mistake my post for Pitt Bashing.
  • @ orange cinema

I understand all of that, but it seems like there is something I am missing. He is remaking a crappy movie. Is there a cult love of the original?

I love Quentin but it seems that this hype over this film is far beyond his other films.
  • Captain Awesome
    Jmoney,

Check out Jesse James. He's great in that. He borders on being completely insane and very feared in the film. He did such a great job in it that you forget it's Pitt.
  • Awesome.
  • BSP
Wow. Is Walmart having a sale on fucktards this week?

"I have no idea why this movie is getting the buzz it has been. Don’t get me wrong I like Tarantino, but really can somebody tell me why there is anticipation for this thing?"

Can I tie your shoes for you too? Loop, Swoop, and Pull.

"The only movie that Quentin Tarantino was involved with that should be watched is True Romance."

That's the worst advice I've ever heard.

"Anyway, post-Death Proof, I don’t see why there’s such a clamoring for this movie"

    A. Death proof is great. B. See A, you d-bag.

"I have no idea why Brad Pitt would want to do this"

I think it's best you don't have any ideas at all.

"Considering Tarantino has never worked with A-listers before"

Bruce Willis isn't exactly an unknown.

"I understand all of that, but it seems like there is something I am missing. He is remaking a crappy movie. Is there a cult love of the original?"

Yes. Yes, you are. The only thing that matters is that Quentin appreciates some aspect of the original and wants to highlight it in his own style. He's better at that than anyone. If you don't understand that then you really don't understand or appreciate QT.
  • pete obrien
Perhaps the abyss of Brad Pitt's long and dismal acting career was his portrayal of outlaw Jesse James in the unwatchable "Assination of JJ by the Coward Bob Ford". That Pitt would have even signed on to such a ridiculously named project is an indication of his profound lack of artistic talent or sensibility. It's incredible how far really good looks can take one; as an "actor" the guy's just awful!
  • jennyfar8
im sorry but am i the only person who thinks brad pitt is a horrible actor....
  • moviecritique
Totally agree. Brad Pitt has looks, popularity created by media and Hollywood, a crowd of adoring fans, but he CAN'T ACT. He tries too hard to fit the part, he never looks real. The Curious Case of Benjamin was OK, I would say that part actually fit him. Interview With a Vampire and Inglorious Bastards only proved how bad he is as an actor. I can barely stand him.
