I would prefer to see TDK be taken down by this movie, which was fuckin hilarious by the way, than the abortion that was the Mummy.

Dark Knight needs to dethrone Titanic. Come on, it's comic geeks vs. teenage girls. Let's win this.

Let's be honest, the only way Dark Knight will take down Titanic is if Warner keeps it out longer than usual and possibly rereleases it in winter.

I say The Dark Knight will be dethroned this weekend to the #2 spot, maybe in the $15-$20M range. It would be cool, if The Dark Knight can hang in the #1 spot for one more weekend.

The Olympics may play a part in the box office figures this weekend but since Pineapple Express is aimed at 25 and under, it may not matter that much.

That's still one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The part where RDJ takes a hammer to jack black's nuts made me fall over crying.

I gotta say, after looking at this adjusted for inflation thing on boxofficemojo, I really don't/cant believe some of those numbers are accurate. I went to a popular imax theater for TDK on opening day and I have NEVER seen anything near the mass amounts of people waiting in line and online sales for this film. There telling me that The Jungle Book has had more viewers then The Dark Knight? Judging from what I saw opening night, I have a hard time believing that. Although its about 70-80 years to late, they really should be counting ticket sales rather then dollars.

Gone with the wind at 1.9billion adjusted for inflation, so doing really shitty math, that would mean it would need near Dark Knight opening numbers, every single weekend for 6 months. Which isnt even possible since the number of theaters nowadays far surpasses back then so it would have to be more like 8+ months straight sold out shows. I know thats bad math but even if you take very low estimates it still seems like theres some shady numbers in BOMojo's adjusted list.

There is still enough buzz around TDK to keep it on top. On another note, PE is hilarious and I recommend everyone see it...

I'm sure it will Pineapple Express was a good film. But I still want the Dark Knight to win.

Of course ticket sales mean nothing, the population now is at least twice of what it was when Gone with the Wind premiered. Something like a quarter of Atlanta saw it when it opened, I very much doubt that many people in Atlanta saw Dark Knight opening weekend.

Not saying this is a bad movie, but...

i loved the dark knight but it will go down to the pineapple express. if not this weekend then i guarantee it will lose next weekend.

as for you gajonka, i saw pineapple express yesterday and it has loads of laughs. quit talking crap about the previews and go see the movie.

I refuse to see pineapple express simple because i hate seth rogen. he's not funny at all.

I'm gonna say it. Pineapple Express was bad.

There, I said it. I love Judd Apatow. Or Jew-Saviour as I like to call him. But this one was a bust. He doesn't know how to film action. The last 45 minutes of the movie were unfunny and repeated the same two jokes over and over again.

I'll lay them out here:

#1 - The Bro-mance. Yeah, we get it, their latent homosexual tendencies really come out while under extreme pressure and weed.

#2 - Shooting random body parts off looks fun...once. But it happens to literally every character in the movie. It really becomes not funny.

I have loved Judd Apatow since Freaks and Geeks, but let me just say, he's slipping. I like Jew jokes same as the next Rabbi, but does EVERY character NEED to be jewish? NO!

And finally, Franco was the only redeeming thing in this movie. He was funny, fresh, and you could tell he was giving it his all as an actor. While Rogen was hacking up his same old schtick, Franco was taking it one step further.

Damn it's pretty clear now why tdk made so much money. It has no competition. Are people actually thinking beating step brothers was a challenge? Mummy 3? If something people wanted to see was out there it'd have a harder time getting repeat business. but all there is is pineapple bikini bottom or whatever crap this is.

@ Gajonka, No the problem is in order for a statement to be a fact it has to be true not just your opinion so fix up your vocubulary and another thing don't judge a movie by its trailer.

On a lighter note, I do have to agree TDK was an awesome movie and I would love to see it whoop Titanic's a/hole but I do highly think TDK will meet its match once Tropic Thunder comes out. Now who wants to swim in the Devil's Lettuce...lol.

this movie fails on so many levels. all but two apatow affairs have been poorly executed crap, and this movie is no exception.

Why do people think Seth Rogen is so funny? He's terrible on Saturday Night Live. Then again, everything about Saturday Night Live sucks now. Bad writing, bad comedians. It's really become a bore to watch.

1. Pineapple Express was funny. "Best comedy of the year?" No, I don't think so. Forgetting Sarah Marshall was funnier to me. And I'm sure Tropic Thunder will blow both of them away.

2. The Dark Knight should still see another strong weekend. That's what it really needs -- consistency. If it can go for 8 weeks earning $14-20 million, then it will do the impossible and topple Titanic.
