Peter, you're a few months late for an April Fools.
  • T-1337
    Or at least I hope.

    Omg! german movie!!
  • Wow, how bad is that?

Well, I'm german and liked Til Schweiger as an actor in many german films, but he never did a good performance when the words "action" and "hollywood" are involved. I'm pretty sure that Far Cry will be his worst film ever... Unfortunately the movie could be a great success in Germany, because of Til being a huge star around here...

Wait...didn't this used to be set on a tropical island?

Oh, wait...Uwe Boll. Right, I get it.

HAHA its Mark from SLC Punk. Only enjoyment out of this announcement.
  • Mark
@beetFreeQ: Nah, that won't help. Not every Til Schweiger film is successful. In fact a lot of them fail miserably (e.g. One Way). On top of that Uwe Boll never had even one successful movie in the theatre. Dungeon Siege had the greatest attendance with a mere 250,000 visitors and that's abysmal for a movie of that budget.
  • I liked Postal. Maybe Boll improved? I like him in Interviews because he tells funny stories about how Hollywood works.

My problem with games-to-movies and movies-to-games has always been that the gamer has its own view about the story. Think about GTA where you can run around and kill everybody just for fun and then think about a movie where they just try to get the main storyline. The main story of all GTA-Games is nice but why has GTA always been more successfull than Mafia? Because you can play days without following the storyline.

The same counts for Far Cry. There's a story but the fun of a 3d-shooter comes from entering the godmode and running around, killing the enemies the funniest way.

The other way round in times of the C64 I hated every Batman-Game (done by Ocean Studios) because you could just walk around, kill some dumbasses and nothing spectacular happened.

Even Wing Commander sucked as a movie. Not just because of the actors. And the movie-sequences of WC3 and WC4 suck if you just watch the sequences alone because all the fun of shooting other spaceships is missing.

Postal worked because the game itself had no story. There's this guy who gets jobs like "Buy some goat-milk" and either you go to the story and buy the milk or you run around, burn everyone and piss out the flames. And then go to the shop and kill the shopowner. Or not.

next german. next opinion. uwe boll gets allways big names for his...things...called movies. in far cry he blows out an german actor with glorious talent: oh no, not till - it's 'our man in hollywood' udo kier ! if wolfgang zombie works with udo sucessfully, than hopefully udo can do a miracle to far cry ^^

I saw the 'trailer'. It was awful. Uwe Boll standard.
  • OAKside
At least he got the Hawaiian t-shirt right, now lets see Uwe's take on the *SPOILER?* mutants. I wonder what Crytek thinks of all this.
  • Looks like they actually spent money on the poster this time... Postal's poster looked like something a highschooler photoshopped.

The first thing that strikes me about this movie is that unlike his previous "works" (namely Bloodrayne and Alone in the Dark) this film seems complete devoid of any atmosphere. Wheres the tropical setting? Where's the lush greenery, the crystal blue ocean, and the general sunnyness of it all? It looks like this whole thing was shot in a trailer park and the nearby lake in the middle of wisconsin. Here goes another Uwe Boll experience... I just know this guy is gonna end up like Ed Wood in 20 years, and we'll all look back on this and hopefully laugh...
  • Eric
He's releasing it on September 11th? No surprise there
  • A Better Class of Criminal
Wait, I thought we signed a petition to get rid of this guy...

Alright, who didn't sign it? You're getting thrown off the island!
  • Pentarix
Internet petitions? lol You know those have never accomplished ANYTHING, right?

I just checked out the photos and does he spend the entire movie transporting people around and pointing guns to their heads? I'm saddened to see a shit movie made using the name of a great video game... by uwe boll... again.
  • xaoz
    Stop Uwe Boll please!
  • A.J.
    @Enrique

Ha! I agree man, my theory is that if I could have photoshopped a poster, its probably a bad poster! I hate Uwe. My only hope is he didn't destroy the video game too much, but when it comes to that, I think that 'wishful thinking' is an understatement.
  • Mayroth
I'm not a big fan of Uwe Boll, but after watching the trailer to this, it looks okay.
  • Christine
    LOL Uwe Boll.
  • Heftybag
Say what you will about Uwe - but at least his films usually make me LOL at the epic stupidity that he puts in there. this should be a good laugh.
  • jfive
    Why? And who cares?
  • Cut to the chase. When is the "Tetris" movie coming out? I hear Christian Slater needs the work.
