/Film reader Tony P sends along word that Mike O’Hearn, otherwise known as “Titan” on NBC’s American Gladiators, was on the Todd n’ Tyler radio show (in Omaha) this morning making some pretty big claims about his upcoming Hollywood plans. He claims that he has a meeting at 11:00am this morning to be the lead in Lionsgate’s upcoming reboot of Conan. Not only that, I heard the audio from the program and “Titan” insists that he has already passed the audition stage.

“Today’s not even an audition. They’re bringing me in today just to sit me down and talk. How about that? It’s even better than an audition!

And if he doesn’t take that deal, O’Hearn has a casting session scheduled for Marvel Studios’ big screen adaptation of Captain America.

Update: Stephanie from IESB reminds me that Mike appeared on Dr. Drew in May and gave the same exact story, that he would be reading for the part of Captain America “next week.” So either O’Hearn’s audition was delayed two months, he is being brought back in again, or it’s just a story he’s making up to get his name on the blog sites. You decide.

O’Hearn played Kane the Barbarian in the 2003 direct to dvd movie Barbarian. He also has acting experience on Days of Our Lives, TV: The Movie, and fanboys might remember Mike as Superman/Clark Kent in Sandy Collera’s 2004 fan film World’s Finest.

Discuss: What do you think? Would you rather see O’Hearn as Conan or Captain America? Or would you rather see him stick to American Gladiators?

I'd like to see him in a Superman role really but I think his pretty boy face would suit Cap a little more then Conan honestly. Still if he's got the acting chops why not.
  • Tyler J.
Man, I'm really worried about the upcoming Conan adaptation.

No offense to O'Hearn, but, I am not aware of his acting merits. Sure Conan is supposed to be a really buff guy, but he's also supposed to be a little dark, a lover of many women, and a sort of poet - something that would be difficult to write for (unless you're Robert E. Howard, of course) and pretty damn difficult to act out.

I would love to see a Conan epic on the silver screen, but with the direction that some comic book and fantasy adaptations are going (see Fantastic Four and Eragon), I'm not sure your average director could pull it off successfully.
  • REAL6
I could see him as Cap...
  • Retro
    Major fail for both
  • KEARNS!
He should have been Ozymandias. Oh well, too late.
  • VanGrue
I think he looks more the part of Captain America, but the big question is can he really hold a starring role in a feature-length, big-screen movie? I'm sure he's fine for the occasional short or tv-movie, but the big leagues? That's questionable.
  • Travis Mcgee
Just cause someone happens to look the part, doesn't mean that they should have the part...

On that note, I'm stoked that MARVEL is casting for Captain America!!!
  • KeanE
Maybe Conan...Wouldn't want him as Captain America Though....
  • Ty
Eh, I'm not liking what I'm hearing about the Captain America casting so far. With Matt M. a few months ago, and now this? I hate to say it, but I may be disappointed by the big screen adaptation of one of my favorite superheroes.

Unless this Titan fellow can act. Then it may be good. He certainly looks the part.
  • Hendo
He looks the part of Cap. As for Conan, I duno I'd need to see him wearing a long wig lol I just pray he has some acting talent... If a Captain America movie was ruined because they got a bad actor I would be so pissed off... Hopefully American Gladiators isn't the new WWE for finding cheap muscular actors... Imagine John Cena as Conan????? I'd fly to Hollywood myself to protest...
  • My initial reaction is "this seems misguided" because if we've learned anything over the past few years with these genre/comic movies, it's that "casting on talent" is more important (and more closely correlated with success of the film) than "casting on appearance".

Then again, I've never seen this guy act in anything and if the report is to be believed, and he's already done fairly well in auditions, then I defer to those in-the-know.

JAVIER BARDEM is the only person alive who could play CONAN properly.
  • J.D.
Am I the ONLY one who finds this guy creepy?

Something about him is just odd and uncomfortable.
  • Iron Matt
    @J.D.

I agree. Something about him is... unsettling.
  • Christopher
No, no, no, no, and no!

He's an American Gladiator, for fucks sake.
  • sean
heath ledger didnt look the part of the joker. cast talent, not looks
  • thefan
    Conan-maybe
Captain America-NO NO NO NO NO NO NO..............
  • Holy shit, Michael O'Dell from BATTLE DOME. What a classic show.
  • jimbo stewart
    Are you fucking kidding me?

Getting a wrestler to play Captain America?

Here's an idea, how about getting a proven actor and having them bulk up for the role? Is that so illogical?
  • Perfect for Conan. Not that it matters as I won't go see it. Captain America? What do you think?
  • Heftybag
    EPIC FAIL
  • Limonade
I've got a better, and far more realistic suggestion for the role of Captain America. Check out Alexander Skarsgard. He's currently playing Iceman on Generation Kill and he'd be fucking perfect. Not only would he look good in the uniform but he can actually act! Imagine that.
  • This guy's a pretty bad actor... I'd say EPIC FAIL to O'Hearn on BOTH roles.

Dunno if anyone here knows, there was a fan film made a couple years ago, "World's Finest", by the same guy who did "Batman: Dead End", which featured O'Hearn as Superman. Definitely looked great as Supes, but bad acting prevailed.

O'Hearn should stay in the gladiator arena, or whatever they call that soundstage.
  • YoungZe
Who is this guy and why does he look so fake?
  • Jake Cage
How about Triple H for Conan and Brad Pitt for Captain America? Titan is a Gladiator and looks like a steroid out Ken doll.
  • Rachel Summers
    @KEARNS!

    Good idea *sigh* Oh well....
  • Can he act? That's what matters most.
  • orange cinema
this can't be true. unless the people who did the casting for JLA have been hired by marvel.
  • Chris
Well, he has the looks for Cap, but I don't know if he can, you know, ACT.
  • Mando
Now Crush as Wonder Woman! lol
  • Craig M.
    @Mando

Shhh! They'll hear you and start actually considering it.
  • AHAHAHAHAHAH
I thought he was ok in World's Finest. So I wouldn't mind him as Cap. "DO YOU THINK THIS 'A' STANDS FOR FRANCE?!?!"
  • 790
This guys perfect for Cap America, but wouldn't they have to get someone else to play him before he's augmented ?
  • john
    ANYONE CAN LOOK LIKE CAP!!!!!!
the question is who can act like him, meaning like really ACT!
this pretty boy is one of many lousy suggestions.
looks alone wont get fans to see a CA film. CAp is more than muscles, he's agility, leadership and a commanding presense.

no wrestlers, no pretty boys, no oiled up bodybuilders. only a real man can play can!!!!!
  • REAL6
Hey, if we are all lucky and still alive in 12 to 15 years maybe we can get Infinity Gauntlet as a movie!!!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinity_Gauntlet

But i would love to see them just do this movie now as a cartoon or do it like Final Fantasy CGI style. That would be fucking killer!!!
  • Phontsolo
This guy would be terrible for both movies. This guy is all about cheese. Just look at him! The guy is super cheesy. Stay away!!
  • DF
    This bulky hermaphrodite... WTF?
    Are you serious?
Try an actor instead please... they sometimes make better better movies.
  • Albert Brodsky
When I heard him say that this morning I figured it was BS.

No one really thought Arnold could act back in the day. It was his Austrian accent that made the character, well that and his muscle. Conan's speech patterns are important to the character. A Cali-American accent wouldn't cut it.

This guy would make a better Thor. His legs are too big for Captain America. I would want him to stop lifting and slim down. Cap is smaller than this guy, but larger than any actor I can think of. If they go for a real actor, they're going to pump steroid in him to play the part.
  • Gary
I think Kevin Mckidd would make a good Conan or Captain America. He was great in Rome on HBO.
  • Tommy Metropolis
doesnt look enough like a leader to play Cpt America
  • Project Thunder
He would make a better Thor.
  • Christine
Don't want him as Captain America.

Now I've got my hopes up that Aaron Eckhart might get the role... I feel weird about wanting Two-Face to play Cap, but he's definitely got the stuff to do good to the role.
  • Luis
    You spelt "brought" wrong.
  • no they wont use a dc guy dude sorry they should just keep auditioning
  • StarBlazer101
I could see him as Cap, especially with that suit he has on that photo. The real question is "can he act?"
  • jfive
Sure why not if he can act . Did anybody else think that he has the look for He-Man with longer locks of course ?
  • Jason
sean brings up a soild point
  • Jason
    solid* wow haha
  • JAVIER BARDEM -- that would be genius for Conan. I'll have to give a big thumbs down for Titan though -- maybe for Captain America but that's it.

    “can he act?”

He can't even pose for a still photograph without looking like an ass.
    Of course he can't act.
