Unfortunately, if you talk to any psychologist worth his doctorate, you’ll find out that the Scared Straight program was a miserable failure. The number of kids who, statistically speaking, would have ended up in prison anyway, did end life in prison despite their participation. I saw a follow up a few years ago - all the kids (now adults) in prison stated that Scared Straight had no affect on their future choices - you know, the ones that landed them in prison.

This premise would’ve been awesome if they played up the scary angle of a bunch of kids from different backgrounds trying to survive the prison riot and resulting ‘prisoner-administration’ that takes over things. Not this retarded vehicle for Cage.

Nic Cage is playing a criminal with a heart of gold, that is in a prison environment where he has to step up and do the right thing even if his fellow inmates don’t like it?! That’s friggin awesome! I can’t believe Cage hasn’t done a movie like this before! Maybe with a crappy southern accent and Dave Chappelle.

This is interesting because I saw an article on HR or Variety last month that said that prison movies always tend to fail at the box office, because quite frankly, it’s a depressing topic.

Anyway, isn’t a studio planning to make a movie based on “The Stanford Prison Experiment”???

This is incredibly great news. The story is right up John Carpenter’s Zulu-inspired alley, and he needs to get behind the camera on a relatively mainstream movie again. I have sat out most Nic Cage movies since the hilariously egregious Wicker Man, but I will pay to see this for Carp.

They never show anything about prison movies to scare kids in the UK.

But if they show this film to the kids with Nicolas cage’s bad acting in it, then they might be scared by it and never want to go into prison.
