I saw this as an advanced copy last week (know someone in it). These types of movies are certainly not my style, but it wasn’t bad. To me, it was as watchable as High School Musical, which my daughters love. Clearly the editing and budget in this movie were very poor, but the acting was not bad, it’s not preachy, and for Christian kids it’d probably be a pretty good choice.

Yeah, we all know it’s The Asylum and we know it’s a mockbuster, but the trailer actually seems quite nice. I mean, like maremagnum said: trash like Date Movies get a theatrical release. Rip-off: sure, but don’t judge the book by its cover.

I was a part of this movie, and I have to say that you should stop rippin on it. Its a knockoff, but its also a twist /parody of both high school musical meets sister ac 2. It is not meant to be a “fake” or anything of that matter.

C’mon. I’ve see worse from movies that actually make it to the big screen.

I think Knockbuster makes more sense for these movies because they’re cheap knock-offs that, with the exception of their titles, have little relation to the movies they leech from. I think crap like Meet the Spartans or Epic Movie are actual mockbusters. AND THEY GET THEATRICAL RELEASES!

I was under the impression that the term they use is “mockbusters”. Either way, the trailer looks like something my kids would enjoy.

I still think the voice-over sounds like Stephen Hawking’s wheelchair though!

Everyone should at least watch that trailer to see the expression/creepy smile on the main guy’s face at the very end of the trailer

I’m confused, why is the trailer depressing? Looks like a heartwarming musical with a good message. Target audience is young teens, so I think it looks like a great film. Watch it and see for yourself.
I bet the Asylum is grateful for all your coverage!
