I love how Peter consistently posts these at exactly midnight.

Are they on some sort of time release? Or does Peter watch the clock until it strikes 12?
  • Dan: I usually create all the VOTD and Cool Stuff posts on the weekend and post date the posts to go live at scheduled times. VOTD usually goes live at midnight, Cool Stuff at 4am. Thanks for noticing :P

Can we move on already from this very forced attempt at creating a new internet meme. The fridge nuking bit wasn't anywhere near as hated as the vine swinigng from the film, making this whole thing make even less sense.

Jump the shark is culturally accepted and well liked, everyone should just move on and let this die.
  • I loved Crystal Skull. I saw it 8 times in theatres. and I loved the atomic bomb scene (as ridiculous and un-realistic as it was). it was a bit creepy to me. and the vine scene is THEE worst scene in the movie. I dont hate any scene... except that. it's god awful.

but anyway, what I want to get to is... this "nuke the fridge". these Indy IV-haters really want it to catch on. and it's incredibly annoying. it's so forced and annoying. a catch-phrase isn't created purposely, it catches on. hence, "catch-phrase". nothing will replace jump the shark. no matter how hard you retards try.

LOL-That video was lol but the last 3 post where even funnier LOL anyways Geroge made is big with first 3 starswars and then went off the deep end. LOL slashfilm posted a quote I wish I had it but George said its difficult to make people like his films, well if he didnt make shit and go back to original formulas than maybe people would stop thinking he is a little off his rocker. LOL indiana jones 4 and LOL starwars 1-2 cg meh transformes features better cg from industrial lights and magic boo for not giving sw the same treatment. Meh wrong post for complaining about george sorry :P

That was actually pretty funny, but in order for a phrase to work it has to be used sparingly. Trying to force it as a Jump the Shark replacement is really Jumping the Shark, or is it Nuking the Fridge... I'm confused now.

    By the Way...
I'm still waiting for "Vanish the Pencil" to become the opposite phrase to JTS/NTF. Come on guys, we can make it happen.

    surprise

It's a stupid saying that needs to die, and this video was bullshit. Trying to buy in on the success of that toddler explaining Star Wars, but at the same time tacking on an agenda. Maybe I'm wrong, and this is the real thing, but it seems really forced.

I don't think it's possible to pinpoint the defining moment where Episode 1 nuked the fridge. I'd say it's the midichlorians over Jar-Jar...

If anything, Shia's character was the Jar-Jar equivalent, and I don't even hate the guy.
  • Both the Fridge Nuking and Vine Swinging scenes in Indiana Jones 4 were awesomeness unparalleled. Stop being haters, yo!
  • Andrew
I guess I agree with some of Ryan's sentiments - shame to see them so poorly expressed. At first scan, I thought I was reading one long sentence. So many commenters are eager to attack filmmakers, yet mostly unable to compose a paragraph.

Also, that video was unfunny and clearly produced by an adult who snagged his kid for the voice-over.
  • Scott
That was pretty funny until it got kinda homophobic there at the end.
  • Matt
    fucking awesome
  • Meli
The whole "Nuke the Fridge" saying is stupid, but this video made
    me laugh.
  • i feel bad for branden up there who wasted his money 7 times too many on indy.

at least see something worth watching like the dark knight 8 times.
  • Austin
"Nuke the Fridge" isn't really that good of a phrase, but with so many pointless sequels being made these days, I guess it'll be used a lot now.

By the way, I really like the phrase "Vanish the Pencil", but what does it mean?
  • w smith
re " I loved Crystal Skull. I saw it 8 times in theatres.".... wow.... just wow. so you're the reason it made money. sad
