The Brothers Bloom Movie Trailer

Over the weekend, Summit Entertainment released a trailer for director Rian Johnson’s follow-up to the 2006 indie high school noir Brick, The Brothers Bloom. Adrien Brody, Rachel Weisz and Mark Ruffalo star in a comedy about the best con men team in the world - The Brothers Bloom, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust and intrigue. Now the brothers have decided to take on one last job - showing a beautiful and eccentric heiress the time of her life with a romantic adventure that takes them around the world. Brick knocked my socks off, but this looks like just another quirky heist film. And don’t get me wrong, it looks good, but it just doesn’t look great. The cast is great, and the trailer looks like it was cut by the same people responsible for The Coen Brothers’ Burn After Reading. At least it has the same vibe.

The Brothers Bloom is scheduled to hit theaters on October 24th 2008.

  • Ruffalo. Boy, I thought filmmakers had finally realized how bad he was...
  • Christopher Edwards
I heard that this film was orginal made for Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller to be in the main roles but Carrey went mental about things on it and then it wen to this.

Looks horrible, trying to do somthing that it isnt and just slap stick looking horrible.
  • thomas
Yeah this doesnt look great, but it may be worth renting in the future.
  • Christopher Edwards
@thomas: renting this film isnt even worth it.

    Just plain bad

I think it looks like a fun movie. I think I could quite enjoy it. Has a nice tone and good visuals in the trailer. I wouldn't say it is accomplishing anything great or even notable, but I will probably enjoy watching it.

I liked Brick enough to give this a chance. Be good to see what he does with a budget.
  • Vobe
Looks like a decent flick. the trailer reminds me of the Ocean movie trailers though..
  • Ray
Adrien Brody + director of Brick might get me to see this in theaters (which I seldom do anymore)... but yeah, this trailer made the film look pretty generic.

a non-comic book/graphic novel/adaptation/remake/reboot/updated/video game film that's got a great cast and a brilliant writer/director?!?! what is this world coming to? original ideas - HAH!

but seriously count me in, looks great.

We've seen this exact concept 1000 times already. Isn't the premise played out yet?
  • silent
The movie will be ok for the entertaining. But I don't think will be more then that, even if has a good cast.
On the side I just hate when an actor in the trailer said "We are going to St. Petersburg" (Russia) and then they show Prag with the czechish flag. I hope it is just the trailer's editing misfit.

    @ blake

i agree that it's not re-inventing the wheel, but what are the 1000 films yer talking about? i can only think of dirty rotten scoundrels.
  • Ohiofile
Summit is responsible for the crappy trailer animation, music, etc. Rian Johnson is responsible for Brick. And based on that, I'm there.
  • Ghost
I like it, it might be another slapstick con flick but I'd have to say it looks to be one of the more better not taken so seriously but funnier ones.
  • gah
Any one else getting In Bruges and Guy Pearce vibes from this?
  • chad
Does this trailer take 34 years to fully load for anyone else?
  • Anomaly
I didn't like Brick but this looks like it could be better. I'll wait for reviews to come in.
  • rian johnson says (about the trailer) that it's a lot more broad and slapstick than the film really is.

gives me hope that the trailer is really misleading.
  • gocitizen
It looks like a George Clooney film without George Clooney. Brody and Ruffalo?? Any one of hundreds of different actor combinations would have given a boost to this type of film. I can't believe that is the best they could come up with.
  • drmecha
Brick was the best movie of 2007.
    No bullshit.

Rian Johnson, mark my words, will be huge.
  • drmecha
er. By 2007, I of course mean 2005.
  • the other hunter
    @ silent

I hated that too. I lived there for six months and Prague is instantly recognizable. Funny they blew up one of the castle's turrets though.

Biggest problem I have: trailer shows the whole damn movie.
  • deanmoor
why doncha idjits geddit huh? Brick was a homage to the film-noir genre. This is a re-interpretation of the heist/caper genre movie...kiss my patootie, I'm in
  • Rob K
-looks great! Rian Johnson definitely is one to watch out for.
