Mike Myers is Writing Austin Powers 4

Following the epic disaster that was The Love Guru, Mike Myers is going back to well and is writing a fourth Austin Powers movie with Baby Mama’s Mike McCullers. According to Nikki Finke, the story will be “very personal with a father and son theme loosely based on his own life.” That’s right, the story will focus on the father son relationship of Dr. Evil and his son Scott Evil, played in the films by Seth Green. I always found Dr. Evil to be the most interesting aspect of the series. But I think they have played out the character in the two sequels, and I’m very skeptical that Myers can create a funny fourth film without having to resort to cheap laughs like tons of celebrity cameos.

No studio deal is in place, but it’s a sequel and I’m sure New Line/Warner Bros will quickly give it a greenlight. But the real question is: has Mike Myers lost it? And more importantly to the movie studios, is Myers still a box office draw? I think the Austin Powers brand still has enough juice to attact audiences, at least one last time.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
  • Captain Awesome
I thought that's what The Love Guru was?
  • Pete
He should have done this instead of the Love Guru, but either way it's going to be bad. Why not just do, So I married an Axe murderer 2, or Wayne's World 3?

"the story will be “very personal with a father and son theme loosely based on his own life.”."

Eh...wasn't that pretty much the gist of Goldmember, also?

Yeah I agree Peter, I'm down for another Austin Powers..... I don't understand why he even made the Love Guru, oh yeah that was for his dad too. The guy really loves his dad.,,

Dr Evil is the highlight of that franchise, and the Sharks with Laser beams on their heads !!!
Seth Green who I usually find offensive and tiny is good in these films. (Runs like a girl.)
  • gah
I knew he'd go back and do this as soon as the Guru figures came in. But yeah, let's make a deeply personal father/son story mixed in with immature fart jokes and sexual innuendo. I'm sure daddy would be proud.

Kind of running thin on ideas it seems. I'd (marginally) rather see Wayne's World 3 - model it after Austin Powers 1 where Wayne and Garth travel in time from the early 90's to the year 2009 and are forced to cope with such changes as Madonna no longer being hot, Wayne and Garth trying to create their own Youtube channel etc....... yeah it would probably suck, but I'd rent it.

i dont agree at all love guru was funny ..the jokes were all there sure it was a bit racy but who cares it was FUNNY ..his new movie will be great either way iam stoaked on the new film

i'm always a fan of myer's work. i say do it. He true fans will find the 4th installment funny.
  • jimbo stewart
First one was fine. Second one sucked. Third one made me laugh once or twice.

    Put Seth Green in charge.
  • Oh Blair
Finally! I wonder how freakin awesome this will be?!??! YEAH BABY its going to make one million dollars! HEHEHE

I am going to rewatch all 3 austin powers now! I HOPE THEY HOLD UP.
  • I don't think it matters whether he still has it or not...he is running thin just like Adam Sandler and Will Ferrel is heading in that direction. I just think audiences are looking for something else and moving on. Comedy is in a lull right now and action (superheroes) has stolen it's 'mojo'.
  • I would really enjoy it if it went back to the genius of the first one, where it was intelligently deconstructing the secret agent genre with relatively subtle humor. The latter two installments weren't awful but they became extrapolated 2-hour versions of a gag moment from the first film.

    I'm hopeful.

    I'm excited

After seeing them together and in costume at the last Mtv movie awards, don't know why he wouldn't consider doing another Wayne's World. The audience went nuts when they came out.

I think that Austin Powers is played out. I was a fan of the films, but I've had enough.

I'd like to see Wayne and Garth as "adults" (and neighbors) trying to raise their own family. It seems like a dumb premise, but I would think Meyers' could find some inspiration in that. It might even ring true for some of the audience. In any case, a lot less hollow than AP4.

I loved the first one, other two being decent enough. I was always wishing, and wondering, that he'd do another. I'm fairly excited about a new one but also realistically cautious as MM seems to have the same streak going as Murphy.
  • trazadone
The Love Guru was simply awful (I aborted after 30 minutes). It's ridiculous to believe that another Austin Powers film would be a box office draw given that Myers is still using now outdated humor in an attempt to draw laughs. Any studio stupid enough to touch a 4th Austin Powers deserves the inevitable fiscal loss. Myers has absolutely lost it.
  • YoungZe
It's still better than movies like Meet the Spartans.
  • MM reminds me of those meth junkies who drink bottles trucker urine they find on the side of the highway. ... He's beyond desperate now... Its pathetic and he needs serious help.
  • Seth
Is this one going to be based in the 80s? That's the only other decade they haven't yet visited.
  • Jmoney
    I'd rather see Wayne's World 3.
  • evanz
Too soon. They should wait a few years. Like maybe 20.
  • max
I absolutely do not want to see this movie.

Love Guru just put me off him, then my mum got a job
  • Twistedlp
As long as Beyonce isnt in it, I'm game.
  • TheDaftPunk
1st was good, second was bad, third was good.

I'd say "go for it", he's a funny guy, but The Love guru was exactly like AP.
  • Quenfis
My wife and I have been huge Mike Meyers fans since the first day he was on SNL. There isn't a day that goes by that we don't have some random quote that we spill out to each other from one of Meyers' characters. Heck, she still watches 54 when it's on. But, Love Guru was ejected after 45 minutes of view. That was tough for us to admit that the movie was terrible.

Also, Seth Green, as funny as people think he is, really isn't that good. I don't know if I would want to see a movie with him as a main character. I still think Meyers has a lot to offer though.
  • Dave
    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

    (Takes a breath)

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Who cares, after FX TNT and Spike channels repetitively played the living hell out of the 1st 3 movies I no longer care about this movie franchise. It'll make him $$$$ for 2 or 3 weeks and then fall off the radar.
  • Dave
Though, I am all for Seth Green getting work.

If he writes it with Myers it may interest me.
  • Harrison and Steve
    i could care less,

but maybe the %1 percent of me who liked the first one says make the 4th one about Dr. Evil/Scott coming to a big city to rob a bank, escaping in a school bus and then terrorizing the entire city while killing lame austin powers impersonators who try to stop them.

and heres the trick, mike. dont make it a comedy. make it serious
and call it "THE EVIL NIGHT".
  • 790
I like it Harrison and Steve !!!!
    Lol
I would pay to see that !!!!
  • Jake Samuels
Mike: PLEASE have Dr. Evil LOOK and act like he did in the FIRST movie. His eyebrows were grey, scar bigger, and we loved the way he acted. He didnt do any of this hardly in the new ones. Also, get back the music of the 60's.
  • Jack Simonson
PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE get some funny people in it also. Like Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler inventing a new character. THEN it will be a total hit. Maybe Madonna staring in it. Also, I agree. Dr. Evil was ALOT more funnier in the first Austin Powers film than the others.

Fuck allllllllllll of youuuuuuuuuu it will be awesome
