Oliver Stone’s W. Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for Oliver Stone’s W. is now online. It basically focuses on Bush’s partying antics. The juxtaposition of “It’s a Wonderful World” over the Bush presidency gives you a good idea of the humorous spin that Stone is taking on this story. Tell me what you think in the comments below.

  • Funny stuff, should be pretty entertaining.
  • John
why the F*** would i ever want to waste my time seeing a film about this guy?
  • I don't think this can possibly be good moviemaking, considering Stone's politics and background, but I don't doubt it will be entertaining.
  • Christopher
I'm not sold yet, but damn if they don't get some of those guys looking real. Condi and Barbara especially.
  • i love seeing bush do a beer bong. LOVE IT !!!
  • Captain Awesome
Why isn't he wearing the Batsuit? ;)
  • B
    Wow!

If this is the black comedy that "Nixon" was, then count me in!

Even though this is just a teaser, I'm endlessly fascinated with what's going to be done with this fledgling legacy.

    Conspire away good Mr. Stone!
  • I think this looks pretty bad. Not that it matters really, but some of the actor look nothing like the people they are playing.

I think this one will come and go, with little fanfare. Oliver Stone is a shell of the filmmaker he once was.
  • Max
it's a tad nitpicky, but like hell that guy looks like Tony Blair.
  • Steelo
I'll be most intrigued to see how this plays out.
For no other reason than just because
  • Bob
This is going to be like a bad MAD TV parody sketch the goes on and on for two hours.
  • Sauce
Shotcaller: Why wouldn't it be good film making? What's your def of good film making? What are you trying to imply? that it won't be "fair and balanced" thus making it Not quality film making? Films are where slant should be. It's art, one person's perspective. From past films, Oliver Stone has proven he is a very capable and talented film maker. And if you're entertained by the film hasn't he succeeded in at least one way?

And if you just misspoke...Well, this is the internet, try and read through your comments after you type them up.

I'm so glad he's doing this movie Right now. And the casting looks great! I Can't wait myself.
  • evanz
Now I know what they mean by "unintentionally funny".
  • Joey
I'm sorry, but I think this movie looks awfully boring.
  • Scott
It looks funny. Hopefully that was his intent.

There's no sense in assuming it'll be "an objective look at a nuanced public figure", and it's his prerogative to make movies about his point of view, but for Stone's sake, I hope the final product is better than the trailer suggests.
  • JFK
At what point does he devote his life to the rigorous pursuit of knowledge (developing one of the worlds top minds), keen physical ninja prowess and the creation of the Batsuit?
  • Palmer
    Do not want.
  • Arch Stanton
Looks like Stone wrote it in one afternoon, while on coke.
  • Arch Stanton
I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way...
  • Greyson
This won't be better than J.F.K., but it won't be worse than Mama Mia
  • Danny
    Arch:

Stone didn't write the script. Or were you saying it looks like he filmed it in one afternoon on coke? Because that would be quite a feat.

    Looks good though
  • bp
this looks so fake because some of these people are still in office. which makes me wonder why they're making it now instead of in like ten years. either way i think it will be terrible.
  • I think it depends in which direction he takes this movie. Maybe this movie is just to make us love him and remember him while he leaves office. Or maybe a way of telling us what really happened.
  • Justin
GWB is an interesting individual. At once, he's the most powerfulman in the world and secondly he's one of the lower rung of the inteligence ladder. Basically, voting him into office was like handing a loaded gun to a four year old. I'll see it because it's Oliver Stone.
  • Captain Awesome
"Basically, voting him into office was like handing a loaded gun to a four year old."

    haha
  • Floppy
I wouldn't have thought Richard Dreyfuss would have gotten the part of Dick Cheney due to his inability to speak because of his head being so far up his own ass.
  • gah
It'll either be sheer genius or a bloody mess, either way I can't wait.
  • Pixel Pusher
wtf kind of casting is this?! *MAYBE* they could get away with this cast if it were filmed like 10 YEARS after the administration left office, Cheney were dead of his 9th heart attack and everybody had already forgotten what he looked like.

    PASS PASS PASS PASS PASS.
  • Brody
    cant wait.
  • John
We have had 8 years of non stop relentless Bush bashing. Who the hell wants to watch 2 more hours of it in this over-the-top low production value style? Is somebody impersonating Bush saying outrageously dumb things still funny to anybody in the world? I'm a liberal who never voted for Bush BTW.
  • Sheriff Dewey
Brilliant! "Take a swing old man." C'mon! How could you not want to see this? What is wrong with you people? The worst administration in America's history - immortalized on celluloid. What a wonderful world!
  • Arch Stanton
    @ Danny:

yeah, kinda both. Looks like s*** either way. Looks like a Mad TV bit, not even SNL quality.

    @ Sheriff Dewey:
"worst"? I'd say other than Washington, Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt, they've all been disappointments. This is nothing new, people just have short memories.
  • Ender
Since this film portrays Bush in a (seemingly) negative light, and since W. once stated something to the idea of "if you're not with us, you're with the terrorists," then I wonder if Oliver Stone's going to get a one-way ticket to Guantanamo Bay? I kid, I kid.

Also, I think Richard Dreyfus is a great choice for Cheney.
  • Ciji
I hope Thandie as Condi isn't a miscast. Thandies "American" accent has fallen short in the past (Crash, Persuit of Happyness). I can think of 5 other actresses better suited to play her: Sanaa Lathan for starters...
  • charles
If I find out that this is a pure comedy I might see it. But I'll wait for the reviews.
  • Vega Bro
Is the song a reference to Bowling For Columbine? which also dealt with Bush.
  • Dave
I think it's more of a nod to what a complete and utter fuck-up must be thinking when he becomes president.
  • fex
this will be the one good thing thats come of this administration
  • se7en
I'm sure this will be a very disrespectful mockery of our President.

All I know is that he's kept this country safe, and by the end of his Presidency, he will go out after we're winning the war in Iraq.
  • T-1337
    "Kept this country safe"

WTF was September 11 then?! People I knew died on that day.
Current studies showed that WBush could have stopped it with proper intel. But did he? NO.
  • Pech
I just hope they didn't use the original script that hit the web, the one that was written by a child. Donald Rumsfeld was waaay off.
  • EdwardAquila
lol bowling for columbine another misinformed travesty. i hope michael moore enjoys stuffing his face with blood money. i could go on and on about how he never talked to the parents of the shooters/victims or the FBI profilers or even discused dylan and erics journals or even MENTIONED the basement tapes but asked fucking marylin manson what he thought of it (WTF???!!!)
but ill just calmly ask you all to pleas stop mr moores heart in any way possible if you see him.
  • Kevin SMith
Libtards rejoice! Another work of fiction to bash their favorite president! Why are the libs, who hate Bush like Nazis, so obsessed with him? PATHETIC.
  • Sauce: I'm thinking a movie that was rushed into production so hastily, with a director so rooted in his anti-conservative viewpoints, that is being released when it's being released just so it can ruffle as many feathers as possible before the general election, seems more like a means to an end (ie getting Republicans out of the White House) than an ambitious, labyrinthine political film (ie "JFK") that Stone has put out before.

Jesus that was a longer sentence than I intended.
  • @Christopher

The actors look nothing like their real-life counterparts. That's the problem. With all the talent in make-up effects out there, you'd think they could do better than this tripe.
  • Prodjock
They should have cast Abe Vigoda as Bush's father Barbara.
  • A fuck up becoming the most powerful man in the world? This must be the feel good movie of the year!
  • A Better Class of Criminal
I think this will be pretty funny to watch, who knows it might even be worthy of a Best Picture nod.

I swear they did a top notch job at casting look-alikes.
  • Tex
Great.... But I still think the American People are in NEED of this kind of storytelling for the William J. Clinton..... REALLY ---- THAT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Anomaly
So is this the first movie to come out about a presidential administration while the administration is still going on?
