For those of you who loved The Dark Knight but are deeply concerned about the quality of McG’s upcoming Terminator Salvation, take heart: At today’s Comic Con press conference for Salvation, McG was asked about the involvement of Dark Knight scribe, Jonah/Jonathan Nolan, someone who McG previously mentioned had worked on the script.

According to McG, Nolan was “the lead writer of the film,” and “I don’t know how the WGA rules work but honest to goodness, we did the heaviest lifting with Jonah.” Currently, Nolan is uncredited on the film’s IMDB page.

I consider this film salvaged. Best news imaginable.

    I know he's on it...

But you guys also seem to really gloss over the fact that at the end of the day it comes down to the director and what he does with the material. Also, TDK turned out well because it was a major collaboration between Christopher and Johnathon from the get-go. (see: The Prestige)

I'm amazed at the amount of shit people here can give someone like Zack Snyder over things like 300 or even Watchmen. But look the other way for shitbirds like McG.
  • Superman
Indeed. This is like being excited Brett Ratner's directing an xmen movie. Of course you'll always have your psychos out there willing to defend his crappy movies to the death. Love the internet.

    This means nothing,,,,,
TDK and the Terminator films have very little in common.
  • film god
WHY DID THEY HIRE MCG? They're getting everything else down right. Bale, Nolan. Aces.

I don't know how it'll end up being good cause McG is going to try so hard not to prove he is a shittastic director.

hey, shit-sucking queef-bag. mention the dark knight in every bit of news.
  • REAL6
Everyone is always fucking bitching about something. McG this or i hate that part of the movie or thats not done right. Fucking Amerikkkans always complaining about something. aITS THE AMERICAN WAY, RIGHT???

But in all honesty, ill give McG a chance. I have faith and i cant wait to see this!!!

What I've seen in the trailer looks alright, so hopefully McG won't screw the pooch on this one. Hopefully Nolan and Bale would only become involved in the movie unless it's going to have some quality at least. While I don't consider McG that great of a film-maker, I'll keep my doubts in line until the movie's out, hopefully he'll work with Nolan enough to really make this film work well.
  • Btw I don't trust McG much either, but let's not jump to conclusions too quickly here.
  • Well I guess that means its entirely his movie to fuck-up. Good luck.
  • simon
Yes, TDK and Terminator doesn't have much in common but surely in TDK as well as Memento and The Prestige, you have profiency and excellence in enough elements to make this kick ass. Not to mention one Christian Bale. I'm very excited.

    Chris Nolan= God-seeing copulation

    McG = Shameless ghetto capitulation

    Nolan FTW.

McG wishes he could launder my taint stains.

    Nolan: visionary.

McG: the douchebag who puked on your date.

"McG wishes he could launder my taint stains."

    lol

though i'd take momento's screenplay over TDK's any day of the week, both films are astonishing, and the title of this article has officially taken away ANY of my worries - for now. while mcg could still screw up, i won't bitch about a thing unless i see some really bad footage.

i feel nolan is only second to kaufman in the screenwriting genius dept.
  • xavier thames
i know for a fact that SHAWN RYAN (writer/creator of the SHIELD and writer of MAX PAYNE) rewrote the Terminator Salvation screenplay back in May.
  • Captain Awesome
    xavier thames,

You have no idea how quick they will drop a screenplay. Sometimes they will have writers competing for the spot. So if they say it's Jonah Nolan. Then it is.
  • Aeghast
Cool, Bale AND Jonathan Nolan, this might be.. wait, but they still have McG.. damn
  • Warban
wow the dark knight is piece of overhyped shite, nothing compared to T1 and T2
  • 790
Anybody remember the hype when John Logan was penned to write Star Trek Nemesis, they all said , "he wrote Gladiator so its gonna be great!".........

    Well see.......
  • Captain Awesome
    790,

But the writer only has so much to do with the direct result of the final cut. I think the reason why the Nolan brothers work so well is because they compliment each other.
  • 790
Yeah but the writer has everything to do with the story. The story IMO has more to do with the success of this film. Not so much MCG any more.
The reports that MCG and Bale are constantly working on the story means there doing it as there working it.
(That's the kiss of death on any movie.)
