A new trailer premiered at Comic Con today for RocknRolla, giving a more in-depth look at the characters and also allowing viewers to change their questions regarding the first trailer from: “Wait, what the hell is this movie about?” to: “Oh, OK, the movie’s about… No wait, seriously, what?” That’s not to say it doesn’t look fun though, as it appears to be taking all the elements we loved from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch and repackaging them again in a slick new format. That’s not exactly the biggest film progression, obviously, but Guy Ritchie was kind enough to address that topic during the movie’s presentation panel.

And with that, we’ll kickstart our brief list of the funniest moments from RocknRolla’s panel presentation, which in addition to Ritchie included actors Gerard Butler, Chris Bridges, Jeremy Piven, and Idris Elba (aka Stringer Bell, of The Wire fame).

1. Upon being asked if there was pressure from the studios to do a movie that resembled his more successful early efforts, Guy Ritchie didn’t bother trying to bullshit the audience, instead offering up an enthusiastic, “Yup!”

2. When a woman went up to the stage in a get-up I can only assume was meant to portray what the Queen of England would be like were she to go to Mardi Gras, followed by only further distancing herself from the realm of sanity by bulging her eyes out, bobbling her head in various directions, and making it very clear she wanted to ride Gerard Butler’s jock, the famed Spartan made the simple but effective claim, “You’re fucking weird.”

3. Jeremy Piven revealed that he was the one who approached Ritchie for a part in the film, with the intention of doing a role that would separate him from his Ari Gold persona on Entourage. As it so happened, the only Americans in the script were two black men. “And that’s why you see what you see here today.”

4. Commenting on Gerard Butler’s coverage of multiple genres, from comedies to action to musicals, a Comic Con attendee asked, “What do you want to do next?” Butler’s response: “Halle Berry.”

  • HILARIOUS!!!

From the producers of "Monster's Ball," get ready to see the star of "300" and "RocknRolla" in a career-defining short film based on a true story. Gerard Butler in "Halle Berry." A Spike Lee Joint.

...the famed Spartan made the simple but effective claim, “You’re fucking weird.” OMG that is too funny! I cannot WAIT for this movie.

This movie looks like an absolute mess, and I STILL have no idea what it's about. Here's hoping it's a good nonsensical movie as opposed to the other variety (Shoot 'Em Up).

The movie looks like a lot of fun. Gerard Butler sounds fucking
    hilarious.
  • That trailer was way better than the first. I might actually pay to see this one.

Ritchie without Statham is like cornflakes without the milk!

Most of my movie geek friends aren't really into these obnoxious crime capers but when they are done well they are great(Snatch) and lousy when done wrong(Shoot 'em Up). RocknRolla is a great title. Looking forward to it.

    Gerard Butler is the man.

This movie sounds about as fun as hearing the same joke three times. I've seen only the "good" (praised) Ritchie films, and I haven't seen Revolver. I don't know how many times I can be entertained by his formula, thassallamsayin.
  • AdamH_au
    Snorricam galore!
  • YoungZe
"Abandon ship!" Yes, i'm gonna see this one.
  • Tom
Looks like typical formulatic Guy RItchie. If that is good or bad I cannot say.

Wow, a shot from inside a car when it gets hit!!! That's original.

    Anyway, hope it's good

I love gangster movies, and love dry british humour. I can't wait to see this movie. Gerry has had lots of movies in different genres that have allowed him to expand his range. This, though, I belive is the quintesential Gerry that we know and love! Parts of his true personality come out, his grit and the seeping testosterone are sexy and hot. This is the BAD BOY Gerry that I want to see more of. I have note seen any of Guy's other movies but plan to before RocknRolla comes out!

Love you Gerry, see you on the Big Screen once again!

  • oh soooooooo funny... for the love of good taste some of you can't be serious? this looks bloody awful! as do all of guy richie's movies they suck, the sooner people realize the this the better, directors have to raise the bar a little not come up with the same old shlop time and time, again.
