Video: /Film Goes to Comic Con - Day 1

We decided to video tape our epic first day at Comic Con 2008. Little did we know that it would end in long lines, exhaustion, dehydration and poor camera work. Instead of showing you all the cool shit going on the show floor, we’ve decided to give you a rare alternative look at the boring parts of the con experience. Enjoy.

Guys, I love you, but you film for shit.

I enjoyed the videos you guys are taking, keep up the good work, also try to show some of the hot babes attending the convention, when you see something good zoom in on it. Thanks again for the good work.
  • You'd need to shake the camera a great deal more before Paul Greengrass would let that footage near one of his movies. Plus, you could see too much of the face of people talking. Your shots need to rest partially on random objects when people are speaking, and shake them more for dramatic effect when people are saying something important, like Peter saying he was tired.

Also, I noticed very few attractive women at Comic Con. I'm not sure this should surprise me. Was this really the case? Surely they can pay some. Cons here have hot chicks paid to not gag as the nerds walk by their stalls.

    Wow- seeing all you guys

Wow..such a wake up from the podcast- totally different then pictured.

Quigley is just a 19 year old college kid..huh.

    Good work guys!!!

i've been to comic con for the last 8 years.
it has gotten worse and worse if you love comics.
if you love hollywood and video games, it' the place to go.

i dont miss the traffic, i dont miss the plane rides, i dont miss the crowded...EVERYTHING and most of all i dont miss all the people who go and DONT KNOW HOW TO BATHE !!!!!!!

    Adam = hot bitch
Anyways Comic Con is more crowded this year than I've ever seen it and I've gone to every one since that Sky Captain movie came out. AND I went to a concert downtown yesterday and it took a half hour to find parking for my poor car. Crazy.

P.S. They're remaking Rocky Horror Picture Show. GROSS.

The line outside shows how poorly the show promoters have a handle on ingress/egress from the event floor.

When i attended last year, it took a full 2 hours to enter the hall.

You can talk about the mass huge attendance and whatever, but in the end, entry to the event shouldn't require a 2 hour wait in the sun. period.

i love adams commentary through the hold thing i couldnt stop laughing. anal drill???
  • Can someone PLEASE buy Peter a new shirt? I swear he wears that same grey long sleave shirt in ever photo I've ever seen of him.
  • Eduardo
Exhaustion, dehydration? Amateurs. Obvious Comic-Con newbies. ; )
  • Good show guys. So far, it's the most entertaining video I've seen from the convention. And kudos to Adam for the editing - I particularly love the extra commentary.
  • Alan Geiss
    Thanks David.

hey peter! i'm here at comic con with some animation buddies.
what booths/events are you guys gonna be attending regularly?
  • I just don't understand why you guys don't appreciate the fact that David showed you the other side of a conference. Many imagine conferences to be amazing and so much fun. Little do they know that there is so much more involved, like long ass lines, rude people and SO MUCH WALKING. I think this was an epic win, aside from the shaking camera. :-)
  • Shannon
so fucking jealous. I haven't been to SDCC since 2003. I even miss the lines! just standing there! ridiculous.
  • Thank you so very much, Mr. Chen.
  • reslipia_au
    ha ha where is devindra
  • The Jezzus
David showed us all a drill and a star wars mock-up. That's it.

Comic Con sounds like a blast!

Yeah, I love the site and read it everyday but really, you should maybe try to put more time into the camera work. I stopped half way through watching it because it was giving me a headache/uninteresting. I'm not saying this to be a d-bag, just some constructive criticism. :)

Otherwise, keep up the good work.
  • Tobi
Man you guys are lucky...I would kill to go to comic-con....but for now I must suffice with what you guys provide....thanks David Chen -_-
  • Supascoopa
    Thank you David Chen

Yet another epic fail from David Chen. This time he loses cinematography.
And Adam Quigley's racism is so obvious in this clip, he doesn't even try to hide it.
  • Tom
keep up the good work lads
  • Costantinos Sozou
hehe... paul greengrass novie. (whats currently goiing on in Paul's head)

Oh crap, theyve discovered that my secret to my awesome cinematography is just a clueless camera operator.
  • Neil
will david chen ever not lose? winning's a bit much to ask for from him but maybe some day his the culmination of the efforts known as his life will not result in an epic fail...
  • josh
    thank you david
  • AdamH_au
Jesus Christ Chen you make me dizzy :-) please keep asking people if they know what Slashfilm.com is!
  • Dylan
bastard david didn't get any of the interesting things
  • Dan
    True Fact:

This is the best footage to come out of Comic-Con so far.

    Fake Fact:

This video makes me feel like I'm THERE, man.
  • Craig
David,David,David..Not only did you not capture footage that people actually want to see but your camera holding skills are as good as Hud from "Cloverfield".
  • me
    Thank you David.
