Warner Bros has released the first movie trailer for the new Jim Carrey Comedy Yes Man. I should probably insert a snarky comment about the trajectory of Jim Carrey’s comedy career here. But hey, at least he’s not making movies about the aliens inside Eddie Murphy’s head. I’ll skip this one thank you.
Carrey stars as Carl Allen, a man who signs up for a self-help program based on one simple principle: say yes to everything and anything. At first, unleashing the power of “yes” transforms Carl’s life in “amazing and unexpected ways, but he soon discovers that opening up his life to endless possibilities can have its drawbacks.” The movie also stars Zooey Deschanel, Bradley Cooper, Rhys Darby, John Michael Higgins, Danny Masterson, and Terence Stamp.

July 23rd, 2008 at 11:06 am
I CANNOT wait for this movie!!!
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:06 am
Danny Wallace who wrote the book has see the first cut and says that it is funny.
The trailer makes it look better and Carey at his best for me.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:08 am
This actually looks funny, why the hell would you compare this to Meet Dave?
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:09 am
Im excited about that, maybe it will wash the nasty taste of #23 out of my mouth….
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:11 am
I have not read the book but this looks god awful!
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:12 am
This movie looks like something out of the 1990’s, and not in a good way.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:13 am
Just Say No to Yes Man
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:14 am
I think it looks funny and I’ll most likely see it when it comes out.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:15 am
I found the guy who thought up this idea and I killed him…
yep, he’s dead now.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:24 am
remember liar liar.
the only thing going on for this for me is deschanel.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:26 am
it’s the sequel to Liar Liar.
his career is thru…………….
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:29 am
Okay, first of all, enough with the “I have not read the book” comments. Who gives a rats arse. Movies are a different animal. And if you didn’t read the book, you can still enjoy the movie. Maybe even Twilight *spew*
Jim Carrey is best in these roles. Finally back to his best, as a comedian. And if Zooey is in it, I can’t miss it. That’s just a rule.
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:31 am
Hey look it’s Murray!!!…For fans of Fotc
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:48 am
The trailer made me laugh at a few parts, and it’s good to see Murray in something other than FOTC (not because it’s a bad show, but because I think he’s a good actor who should do more). Zooey and Danny Masterson are always good. I think Jim Carrey is finally returning to form. Although, I wouldn’t mind him in a few more serious roles (i.e. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, not 23).
July 23rd, 2008 at 11:57 am
It’s VERY much similar to LIAR, LIAR
July 23rd, 2008 at 12:00 pm
Looks entertaining, love the visual style, love Zooey, love Carrey.
I’m in.
July 23rd, 2008 at 12:01 pm
I chuckled some but the movie doesn’t interest me. I’ll either d/l it later or see it if I’m bored and nothing else good is playing.
July 23rd, 2008 at 12:24 pm
It looks like a decent movie, with a good cast. It has to be better than everything he’s done since Bruce Almighty.
July 23rd, 2008 at 12:33 pm
when all else fails.. stick with what you know.
July 23rd, 2008 at 12:50 pm
looks good.
July 23rd, 2008 at 12:53 pm
if he’s doing this kind of crap…………
another dumb and dumber sequel is not too far behind.
July 23rd, 2008 at 12:54 pm
As easy as it is to take shots at Carrey, I’m going to refrain, if only for the opinion that this trailer is actually quality stuff. I’m not saying the end result will be the same but so far so good.
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:10 pm
I usually like Jim Carrey movies but I gotta say that towards the ending, when he says, “was i chewing gum before??”…. I thought that was kindda stupid
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:12 pm
I’m surprised, this trailer actually makes me interested in seeing the movie. Sure I can see why it would be like Liar, Liar to some degree but that’s just an unfair comparison.
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:32 pm
I’ll give it a tumble.
July 23rd, 2008 at 1:55 pm
It feels too similiar to Liar Liar, but it could be entertaining.
I will probably rent it when it comes out on DVD.
July 23rd, 2008 at 2:12 pm
i always hear ” how can you judge the film if you have only seen the trailer. a trailer does 2 things, it can get you ecited about seeing the film or it can let you know to wait for dvd or not see it at all.
this trailer make me remember how overpaid he is for roles someone else can do better.
July 23rd, 2008 at 2:13 pm
I’ll see it for Zooey alone
July 23rd, 2008 at 2:25 pm
looks funny, i’m there.
July 23rd, 2008 at 2:50 pm
This trailer fail to show the reason of why Carl Allen one day decided to say YES to anything.
Read the book, skip the movie.
Yu’ll enjoy it more.
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Carrey’s getting desperate now. Sad.
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:22 pm
Red Bull.
Red Bull.
Red Bull.
Hehe, oh Jim, how you amuse me so.
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:39 pm
Fucking hell………… It looks decent and would’ve made a decent buck or two back in the 90’s. I’m sick of people downing on Carrey’s career. Fun with dick and Jane gave a real hearty laugh or two. This man played Joel in one my all time favorite romance film. Seriously, he’s got everything going for him. Yeah, I do wish he would branch out and do something a tad bit more original, but this isn’t a fucking epic movie type film. Stop trying to be cool by dissing the Jim.
July 23rd, 2008 at 3:53 pm
I’ll see it. I like Jim’s comedies. But I’ll still wait for the reviews.
July 23rd, 2008 at 4:13 pm
Retarded. I can’t understand how people can watch a “comedy” (and I use the term very loosely) starring some moron, such as Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Owen Wilson, Eddie Murphy and Seth Rogan (ya I said it), who does the exact same lame shtick OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, with the end result being a movie that BLOWS (even if you don’t want to admit it), and yet people say “ya, his last 10 movies may have SUCKED but I’ll give this one a shot.”
WTF? Are you mildly touched? I think the lobotomy you endure watching these “comedies” may be taking affect.
Ya, I’ll probably skip this one :)
July 23rd, 2008 at 5:48 pm
hahahaha… the DDR!
July 23rd, 2008 at 7:06 pm
oh jim carrey! you slay me!
July 23rd, 2008 at 8:49 pm
Zooey… yeah am In love with her, but if she keeps making bad movies it might be over between us. Unfortunately I’m getting heavy “Liar Liar” vibes from this thing. But of course, ANYTHING is a step up from The Happening. Is it wrong of me to want to see Jim Carrey return to low brow comedy like Dumb and Dumber? He just isn’t as funny as he used to be and the only “dramatic” roll I liked him in was Truman Show.

Your comment about Jim Carrey’s paycheck shows how little you know about anything. It is irrelevant because Jim Carrey has received NO MONEY at all for this film and will not make a cent until it makes back all of its budget and costs for the studio.
Pentarix -
You’ve just named the people who have been responsible for 90% of the comedy films in the last decade. Why the hell are you commenting on a comedy movie when you clearly have no sense of humor or interest in laughing?
It’s so easy to bash something on the internet when you can hide behind your keyboard and know people will see what you’re saying, even though its baseless drivel. Perhaps no one has told you… you’re not cool, you’re not funny, and you’re not important. Nobody cares about you and what you have to say.
July 24th, 2008 at 9:11 am
got damn it how i hate to admit it (after the massive disaster “Fun With Dick and Jane” but i think this looks fucken hillarious!
July 24th, 2008 at 9:36 am
after loving danny wallace’s book i thought that the movie would be good. The trailer put me off it! Why does it have to be based in America? why does it have to be Jim Carrey? why can it not be danny wallace himself if not him why not a british actor? maybe somebody like Kris Marshall?
July 24th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
Hi Tony, thanks for replying!
Interesting comments, I’ll try to deal with them in order:
I guess this is why 90% of the comedy films in the last decade aren’t funny.
I’m not hiding, I actually a founding member of a movie review group at my college, where I am a film and television production student. Most of my colleagues are aware of my views and it makes for some very interesting and entertaining discussions.
It’s not baseless, you need only refer to websites such as rottentomatoes.com and view a number of the reviews, some of which mirror my own comments.
It is not important for me to be cool, funny or important, I am more concerned with being honest.
I also have to point out where you are wrong, because obviously you care about what I have to say. :)
Thanks!

@Yoji
Fuck yeah MURRAY!!!!!! Love him!!
July 30th, 2008 at 3:13 am
Feels like I just saw everything I need to in that trailer. Bleh.

Can anyone give me some info as to what he says to that girl at the end?
By the way, let me get something out for you guys. IT, IS, A, TRAILER.
Some movies look stupid in trailers…don’t see them then. Do not attack an actors skill, or failure of life just because he does a certain movie YOU don’t like. It’ll be funny to some and others won’t like it.
Basically, if you don’t like it, keep it to yourself unless otherwise asked. Do not insult the movie just because you think “OH, LIAR LIAR SEQUEL!!GAY”
Be a little more mature.
