Friday The 13th Remake: New Photos

Photos removed at request of Warner Bros

More photos of Jason Voorhees in Platinum Dunes’s Friday the 13th remake have surfaced, this time showing close-ups of the masked camp killer. There are minor quibbles in the horror community about this new Jason’s choice of clothing (too hip?) and his “‘roided appearance.” What do you guys think? Should they send Jason back into outer space for a makeover? While I preferred the jump suit and mongoloid baldness of old, give Jason time to perfect his ugliness. It’s only fair.

wtf is wrong with his left leg?
  • Alan Geiss
Im diggin the neck veins but not the blonde hair, i dont really like jason with hair. I'll live though.
  • Indiefilm
looks like the same guy I remember from the last effort.
  • zinkywinks
what's with the axe? everyone knows jason used a machete
  • deal wit it
  • september11th
this movies going to suck just as much as rob zombies halloeween did. he even claimed to be working on smarter, deeper version, but it still suffered from all the cliches any movie like this does. the genre is dead, this is obvious. i never cared much for any of the classic slasher films, but even if i did, at this point its obviously going to be some tired ass hollywood horror faggotry we've seen over and over. if i was a true fan i would be more pissed off then excited. especially with michael bay producing (i think), this shit is going to suck some serious dick.
  • zombiefood
It looks like he has a full head of hair.
  • dr_foreverclear
    cool.
  • dr_foreverclear
ax, machete...he uses anything readily available at your local camp utility shed....or space ship.
  • greycolumbus
I'm guessing that they are going to play up the human angle of Jason in this installment judging from how normal he looks now. But that's nothing really new.

The Horror genre is dead anyways. Zombie's Halloween wasn't as bad as my friend 911 makes it out to be but it does tread on familiar ground a little too much. Oh, and the introduction was way too long as far as I'm concerned.

It's funny... The Dark Knight gave me more of a scare than any "horror" film created in the past decade.
  • Captain Awesome
So Jason died his hair? Looks like a Rob Zombie production.
  • dameetch
guess they're neglecting the fact that his mom was the killer in the first movie?
  • Texas Terro
Why is he wearing a belt? (not the one on his leg) He looks like he just walked out of old navy
  • Hunter Stephenson
    @ CA

There is a little Head Bangers Ball going on here, right? Not what I expected for the new Jason, but we'll see what happens.
  • Eddie
You know, as long as he's creative with the cleaver I really don't care what the hell kind of pants he's wearing. I don't watch a Friday film for fashion. It's all about the blood...oh, and boobies. (That was sexist. I'm sorry.)
  • Captain Awesome
    Hunter,

Slap on a "Poison" shirt and the soundtrack has to showcase "wailing guitars" anytime he kills someone.
  • Captain Awesome
    Eddie,

That's great and fine too. But Jason has been around for so long. That he has "set up" a general look and theme for himself for years now. I don't want people to take liberties with such a simple, yet effective, and recognizeable character icon. There's a reason why Jason works in a film.
  • "I’m guessing that they are going to play up the human angle of Jason in this installment judging from how normal he looks now. But that’s nothing really new."

    That's what I'm thinking.
  • KitPatrol
    @Texas

They costumers have obviously been playing too many Japanese RPGs, don't you know everything is better with a million belts? :p
  • Texas Terro
Im just saying, if your holding an axe and you got a hockey mask on, do you have the need to loop a belt and tuck in your shirt
  • Dallas Man
i'm suprised he even understands how to fasten his belt
  • Gentlemen
they didn't update the way jason looks at all... phail!
  • Tobi
Epic fail. I have now lost hope.
  • marz
hey at least they got the foggy woods right, and that lady probably triped and fell and thats how she got caught.loljust as long as they dont have him talking now and crackin jokes like freddy...we might be safe.
  • .m
    Yawn.. No added value whatsoever.
unless they come up with Jason vs Alien in planet predator..
    now thats something worth watching.
  • its just 2 photos people, big deal. there isn't even a teaser trailer out yet, so why even complain?

a couple things from previous comments...

    1) the belt on his leg is connecting to the machete "holster", so stop bitching he isn't slashing victims up with a machete. jason used all kinds of sharp objects to murder people.

    2) as far his wardrobe goes, who gives a shit if his shirts tucked in?! are you guys the horror movie fashion police?

    3) i myself, enjoyed the first texas chainsaw massacre remake, so i have faith this one will be just fine.

    4) aside from producing, bay isn't going to do shit to this movie. well maybe one, standard super slow-mo 360 shot from the ground up, but thats about it.
  • Oh wow GREAT lighting!! Which equals FAIL!!!!!! Friday 13th is supposed to be DARK and HAUNTING. This remake is going to blow.
  • Eddie
ok this does look like a rob zombie production (especially with the blonde hair) but i am guessing this will be better than Halloween wich was too long, too detailed, too-trying-to-be-scary.

i dont know what to do with this one.
  • Steve
Cutting up teenagers hasn't been scary since...well...ever. Considering all the terrors we really face today, a mutated hockey player with a hatchet is probably the last on the list.
  • April
If I wasn't at work right now I'd Photoshop a Poison "Talk Dirty to Me" t-shirt on him.
  • dumb.

I refuse to watch the stupid remake.
  • poo
i have hope this will be good. who cares what he looks like. you people say jason is suppose to be dark and haunting, and he never has been. the first movie was decent, and every other jason movie was crap. there have been no GREAT jason movies. you like the character and are making him creepy in your own mind and have a vision of him being dark and haunting, but seriously have you watched any of the movies lately? i'm a fan though. here's to hoping.
  • Barry
I was worried a little bit when the first pic was released. Didn't like the attire or the 'roid neck, but I wasn't too displeased. However, these new pics are quite cool and he looks a lot better in these than in the first teaser pic that was released. In fact, I like it better and better every time I look at them. I would still prefer the clothing from 3 and 4, but it's growing on me. The mask looks great too!.
  • thegreg
I actually have that jacket he is wearing. I got it about 4 years ago, it's made by polo, pretty comfortable too! It has hidden pockets on the inside of it, hopefully he stores some knives in there or something
  • mario
i thought rob zombie's halloween was gangster as fuck especially the origin story, shit was nuts. i dont see anything wrong with this jason either. i know people are crying that he doesnt have a machete, but whatever he picked up an ax to kill niggas, im down to see people get axed up.
  • Ramir16
september11th, you say horror is dead? How come they always bring in so much money? I guarantee you will go see this movie. Or maybe you get hot and bothered over movies like momma mia.
  • @ Ramir16
I think what september11th meant by 'dead' was that you just don't get QUALITY horror any more. Sure, the genre makes money (sadly), but that is not the be all and end all (though, according to your aggressive post, you clearly put it higher than quality for some reason...) Long gone are the days of Rosmary's Baby, The Shining, The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (yes, the original) and all the original slashers, just to name a few.

All of these remakes and very lame (and scarce) original ideas definitely render the genre well and truly dead. I don't care how much money the suits are making. All of their films simply suck balls.

And shame on you for supporting them.
  • jeffg
I agree with the guy a few post above. It is sad when the closest thing to a actual scary "horror" villain in the last few years is a guy wearing clown makeup. Yes the joker was scary in his own way.

I've loved the horror genre sense I was a kid and saw Silver Bullet which scared the shit out of me. I went through a time where I watched all the 70s-80s slasher flicks and I absolutely loved them. But now it feels horror movies have become a joke, more for profit then the love and making a film to scare people. Its sad really sad, I do hope, as Friday the 13th was always one of my favorite series that they at least give the series some kind of justice. But I have a feeling this will not be the case.
  • 80sRdead
Put fieldman in it hes looking for work anyhow besides that god awful show and the new lost boys 2 too bad the photos are down I really wanted to see them
  • gocitizen
I've never understood the appeal of the Friday 13th films. The first was just a knockoff of Halloween and that is all I ever saw it as.
and now, we get a remake of a knockoff. Whatever.

I don't understand why anyone would invest their time watching a horror remake anyway. I've always felt that part of the fun of the horror genre is that it compels people to watch films from decades past and see what the talk was about.

Films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre had a lot of fun mystique about them in the 70's and I think that viewing that original film offers a great experience for any teen or person interested in horror films and their history. With that in mind, it blows my mind that someone would rather see a Fri13 remake over the original.

....unless, of course, the filmmakers have secured Jessica Biel to run around in a wet t-shirt, in which case, all bets are off.
  • Ricky
I remember everyone being so stoked to see this flick. I liked the Freddy vs Jason look myself but whoever has the money makes the rules.

FYI I enjoyed Mr Zombies Halloween.
  • marz
truthfuly i think there has been so many sequals to horror flicks that after a while they're not scary anymore but rather...funny.like chucky and freddy..those first movies scared the crap outta me because it was a new idea.but once it's done, the scare factor is gone.the only real thing the movie has going for it is the gore factor.i dont think u need alot,if any, gore in a movie to make it scarry.polterguist, the sixth sence, and the ring all scared the crap outta me but was easy on the gore....besides,i think the japanese to american made horror flicks kinda killed the american horror genre.but they to are starting to go to far by making sequals of those i.e. the ring 2. i believe hollywood just needs to revisualize the genre and realize that we are desensatized to the old grimmy looking, can't be killed,no talking, solo strong man who goes around killing drunk, sex crazed teens.find something else that scares the hell outta people.i think cloverfield did a good job at this(altho the camera was a lil shakey for some).one movie i am looking forward to is mirrors.
  • francesco
come on guys, how could u go against a movie just 'cause jason's got blonde hair.
he's cool maybe the best jason so far.
  • Tim
I gotta say...I'm borderline obsessed with old-school slasher flicks..and I'm still all for the reinventing of originals like TCM, Friday the 13th (which is actually a "Twitch of the Death Nerve" knock-off..it just rode Halloweens coattails), and the Elm St series. The Halloween remake sucked...but so what. It was something new to watch, and it got a whole different generation involved in something that I couldn't live without as a kid. As far as Jasons new look..it's really not that different from the old. When Jason started his killings, he actually had long hair, and even a beard. I personally think Jason looked his best at the beginning of "X", before he became robo-killer(and, yes, that movie was a flaming piece of crap).
  • MLC
The Jason I want to see in the new movie is the one we saw on part 3 and 4. I hate that stupid jacket someone decided tu put him on!, and I hate too that machete that someone decided to attach to his arm forever and ever!. I want to see the classic Jason (F13th Part 3 and 4) and I want him to have an axe!, it's by far scarier than having him going around with that machete that makes him look like a GIJOE toy or something!. Let's classic Jason return!!, give him an axe!!
  • Kurt
I think that whining like this over a remake should be band although I have to admit I have done it a time or two. Come on people I don't see any of you trying.
  • Christian
I can't wait to see this in the movies and to see who all dies, but the main person I want see if who Jason Voorhees is chasing while that person is crawling backwards on the ground?
  • mark t
i expected much more from micheal bay and i feel this movie is going to ruin the series as much as jason x dont call it a fucking remake call it a new movie a reamke would involve mrs vorhees and not even site of a hockey mask if it was jason in the first one hed be wearing the burlap sac he didnt get the mask until part three you think if you enjoyed the films that much youd get it fucking right you are murdering jason vorhees' character and the entire storyline....fuck you hollywood pussies gimme a low budget prequel or anything just dont kill a good stryline from a great slasher film... DGAF
  • jared2566
zombies halloween was awesome this cou;d also be
  • Soul Descent
I am a huge fan of old school slashers... I still love the genre. It is harder to find quality now, but you still can. The reason that people went to see the first flicks was just sheer shock value. In today's world, it is harder to shock people. Just because you don't think it is any good, doesn't mean it isn't. The fact is, it is all the same formula: occasional frontal nudity, a deranged psycho and a bodycount.
