McG checks in from the set of Terminator Salvation with a new blog posting. The highlights include an explanation of the visual style of the new film and the work they have been doing with the story. Here are a few excerpts:
“We have set out to achieve a completely new visual style that hasn’t been seen before. We’re shooting the film on color stock but are using a method inspired by the Oz process which was developed at Technicolor by Mike Zacharia and Bob Olson. Basically we are adding three times as much silver. It creates a surreal texture that is in keeping with the notion of the entire picture - feeling detached from the world we know today.”
“Every morning and every night Christian [Bale] and I work on the story.” … “We are committed to putting the story and character first and then supplementing that with action and visual effects. It is our intention to make a film on a large scale with the nuance and subtext of a high quality independent picture.” … “The entire crew takes the making of this film very seriously. I made a point of hiring key personnel that are passionate about getting this right. Everyone is well versed in the mythology.”
Now it would be easy to sarcastically pick apart McG’s statements, especially the line where McG compares the movie to a “film on a large scale with the nuance and subtext of a high quality independent picture.” But to be honest, McG is saying everything right. He’s made his intentions clear, and the footage we’ve seen via the teaser trailer last week did not disappoint. We’re going to be at Comic Con talking to the cast and crew of the film, so check back later in the week for that.

McG is no Ratner and I think he’s capable of doing a good film. Hopefully we’re pleasantly suprised.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised by this movie.
Of course I’m feeling a bit to optimistic after The Dark Knight so I need something to bring me down to reality… oh yeah, The Mummy 3 is coming out next week. That’ll work.

One thing that worrys me,,,
McG says that he and Bale work on the story every morning and night…… Wtf!
The script should be done before shooting begins.
Are they changing shit as they go?…. If so this film is (more than likley) going to have continuity problems.
Since the spin latly is on the look of the film, I’m reading (between the lines) that there having trouble with the script or they decided to change it midway thru. ? Never a good thing even on an Independent film.
And why woud he even use that word (independent) on this production?

Bale has a very calm demeanor for me.
So he doesn’t bother me to see him in a lot of films. I’ve been a fan of his since Empire of The Sun. He’s proven himself to be a great actor. So he deserves all this attention he is finally getting. What bothers me is he signed up with this douche of a director.
I am very excited to see him in Mann’s next film, “Public Enemies” and that other film “Nottingham”. oh yeah, and the “third” Nolan Batman film ;)

Right on yeah I actually saw “Empire of the Sun” 2 times in the theatres when it came out. Great film, amazing even now it holds up as a great ww 2 film.
Sure hope we get some news on TDK3 soon, and I agree with you Cap. on Mcg…..

Report: ‘Batman’ accused of assaulting mom, sister
LONDON - Batman star Christian Bale was arrested Tuesday over allegations of assault, British media reported.
British media had reported that Bale’s mother and sister complained they were assaulted by the 34-year-old actor at the Dorchester Hotel in London on Sunday night, a day before the European premiere of his latest film, “The Dark Knight.”
The women made the allegation at a local police station in southern England on Monday, Britain’s Press Association news agency said. It later said Bale had been arrested, citing “police sources.”
