What must it feel like to see a man in your suit parade around an electrical field? Jason Statham, sit back and put on some shades. Today, the LA Times unleashed a crop of behind-the-scenes photos for Crank 2: High Voltage. Apparently directors and /Film buds, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, have thought up a zany Godzilla-esque dream sequence for their much anticipated, free-basing sequel due April ‘09. And while it looks promising—nice stubble, check—can it possibly top Bobcat Goldthwait’s man-in-suit destruction from One Crazy Summer?

Discuss: Crank 2: High Voltage, safe for the olds? What is your favorite man-in-suit movie?

    Godzilla. Hands down.
  • Is this really "much anticipated"? It's a Jason Statham chase film. Don't we get a couple of these every year? Like Matthew McConaughey shirtless romance films.

That big Statham head sends me a real Army-of-Darkness vibe.

I just watched Crank 1for the first time last night and ... **SPOILER WARNING **... how do you resurrect Statham for the sequel after he dropped out of a helicopter some several hundred feet above LA and slammed into a car and onto the pavement?

My favorite Man-In-Suit film is... whatever the they were filming in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

I mean, not only do you have the Godzilla cameo, but then you get Pee-Wee on bike smashing tanks, a speedboat, then Santa's sleigh. To top it all off, you have a golf cart destroy a building, a Japanese FX technician sailing into the air, and finally, a dual motorcycle jump in full pyrotechnic glory.

Brian Taylor has mentioned a youtube video of a parachutist, shot from the person's helmet cam, falling to Earth unable to open the chute, hitting the ground and then walking off purely on adrenaline. He has never said that this is what happens to Chev Chelios, but it is assumed that this is at least serving as inspiration.

I was wondering how they were gonna do this scene after reading the script.

    @ Baron Von Chedder

Maybe he is dead and someone just made a suit of him to walk around in and sleep with his chick and stuff.

    **SPOILER**

After he fell from the helicopter.. we see him blink at the very end.

Are you wondering because the rest of the film is so credible?
  • "can it possibly top Bobcat Goldthwait’s man-in-suit destruction from One Crazy Summer?"

    fftt, no!

Why is everyone so excited about this movie? Crank sucked balls. It was a terrible terrible movie. The guy actually survived the drop, and whats the deal with his face in that picture above? Someone explain whats going on.
  • jew hunter
fuck you jew crank was an amazing movie that trilled and excited me and if you feel otherwise why don't YOU go jump out of a helicopter
  • Alan Geiss
@ Floppy I would like to see that video
  • 'crank' was definitely up there in terms of ridiculous fun, so my theory is that the fall will not only not kill chev chelios, but make him superhuman. i mean, the first movie was so over the top, that the only way to improve on it is to really have even more ridiculous stunts and mach q levels of violence. i mean...even more than the first.

Wait, in this one his heart's been replaced with an electronic pacemaker?

So, what's he going to be doing? Walking around shagging lightbulb sockets?
  • Jintro
As far as credibility goes: I suppose the car broke his fall. And right after everything went dark, you could hear a couple of heartbeats.
I keep telling people: Crank was the... most PURE action movie ever. The main thing action movies need, are narrative excuses for heated action. And Crank simply topped everything in this aspect: ***SPOILER*** if you run out of adrenalin, you die.
    The sheer genius!!!
Also, I completely freaked out over the camera-use, specific shots, and the rawness of it all.

I don't know if "harder-better-faster-stronger" will be the ultimate approach for the second movie- just as Crank had a unique approach of the action-genre, Crank2 could just handle things completely different, instead of trying to out-perform Crank- which would probably just fail (see cube->hypercube. only when they tried to do things differently with Cube Zero did things become interesting again.)
  • CRANK WAS GOOD, BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR A SEQUAL.
I THINK YOU WOULD HAVE DIED FROM TEH RED BULLS ALONE
THAT HE CONSUMED IN THE FIRST MOVIE.
  • CRANK WAS GOOD, BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR A SEQUAL.
I THINK YOU WOULD HAVE DIED FROM TEH RED BULLS ALONE
THAT HE CONSUMED IN THE FIRST MOVIE , NOT TO MENTION FALLING HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF FEET INTO A CAR.
  • Chevy C.
    B.A.'s live DONT die! He's a modern-day Chuck Norris.

It would take nearly 200 redbulls to kill a 225 pound man I think he was in the clear. As for the fall ever heard of terminall velocity and the simple idea of decreasing it with surface area. Some of you need to take physics,
