Warner Bros released the first high resolution photo of Christian Bale as John Connor (seen above). Meanwhile, io9 took a closer look at the kick ass Terminator Salvation teaser trailer and spotted what is believed to be a a T-600.
In an earlier blog posting, the filmmaker explained that the T-600 is a “bigger, grimier, nastier version that preceded the T-800….they’re easier to spot but they pack a mini gun and carry kick ass fire power. They’re eight-foot tall killers that prowl the badlands looking for anything with a heartbeat to terminate.”

And apparently Roland Kickinger, an Austrian native who actually played a young Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 2005 biopic See Arnold Run, has been cast to play a younger version of Schwarzenegger’s T-800 character.
“It’s Arnold’s character in the first Terminator. That’s basically my role, but 20 years before, so it establishes how the Terminator [came] about,” Kickinger told the Clinton News Record, continuing with the slight spoiler: “There’s a very strong scene in the film where John Connor for the first time meets the Terminator, and he doesn’t know if he’s a good guy or a bad guy.”

this will be as bad as when van damme was replaced in blood sport 2 etc. BLASPHEMEY!
July 18th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
Hey where’s Arnold Schwarzenegger. :(
July 18th, 2008 at 4:50 pm
i’m on board for this film except one complaint: the rumor that connor is a side player infuriates me! a 20 year buildup for him to take the backseat?!?! i hope its just a rumor, especially with bale in the role.
we’ve been waiting all this time to see what connor’s made of, and the new trilogy should belong to him, the way the original trilogy belonged to arnold.
July 18th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
The got a hilarious mixed bag of reactions when this played before the TDK. The only reason it got cheers is because Bale was shown at the start. Once that music and the rest kicked in.
It got lots of boo’s and sneers.
July 18th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
now i’m starting to lose hope.
July 18th, 2008 at 6:23 pm
the trailer got lots of cheers in my theater and if you cant get arnold why not get his clone.
July 18th, 2008 at 6:51 pm
I wonder why he hates that skeleton so much. Are skeletons to be feared in the future?
Its all so scary confusing I just don’t know what to think anymore….
July 18th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
Terminator: Full Throttle “Good morning Arnold.” “Good morning MCG!”
July 18th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
People pretty much started cheering when Christian Bale’s name popped up until it ended. Then again it was a pretty short teaser.
July 18th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
I’m waiting with baited MEH…
July 18th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
The T-600 looks like a dude, wearing a metal suit. I know i’m not the first to say this, but it’s true. And seriously, the machines must be dumb as shit, otherwise they wouldn’t have to have so many different variances of the T series to stop insurgents. Actually, the whole timeline/set-up for this story is dumb and doesnt make sense.
The trailer, I hate to admit this, DOES look kickass. But it’s just a teaser…and i’m still indifferent.
July 18th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
I know my post above doesnt look like it, but I DO think this movie could be great. My negative thoughts just came out first.
July 18th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
The T-600’s are supposed to be human looking with Rubber skin. Not pack Mini-guns like a Transformer. They were described by Kyle Reese as steath infiltration units…
Friend of mine in the UK saw an alternate trailer for T4 and said there’s a scene with a giant robot hand scooping up a soldier (ala Solent Green,s Scooper’s).
This really could be the worst reboot ever, if half the stuff I’m hearing is true its gonna be over the top and tarnish the franchise in a way yet never seen. I will say this casting Roland is the best hope this film has, let’s hope they don’t waste his talent. The guys a perfect young looking Arnold, its errie.
MCG better hope Bale’s fanbase see’s this, that might be his core audience. Time will tell.
July 18th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
If a 30 second teaser can create as much excitement tonight from the audience that I saw and heard, I think this one will be amazing. Fans were so disappointment and pissed off about T3 (I hated it) that this one needs to be seen in a new light. Funny how resistant some people are — but I for one believe that a new new director, special effects, machines and Christian Bale playing John Conner (as well as a well thought out plot) will make this movie one that I am anxiously waiting for. This movie is not being thrown together and looks like it has been well consulted with by many of the greats in Hollywood from this new director who seems to be ripped because of his name. They appear to not have thrown together a crap movie over the coarse of 6 months but well over a year of work and a couple hundred million dollar busget- so there is hope that this will be everything Terminator fans have waited for. I am ready for the END, To BEGIN!!!!!! If anyone is going to Comic-Con in San Diego and first hand see more Footage and Stills — please post, information. This is the first time in years I can not attend and I heard that there are some huge surprises. I reserve the right to be damn optimistic. SCI-FI MASTER FAN

MCG if you make me look bad, I’ll send a T-1000 back through time to stop you !

July 19th, 2008 at 2:16 am
hey look at it this way: If you take the letters from ROLAND and switch them around appropriately, you get ARNOLD.
July 19th, 2008 at 2:21 am
Nice one Jank………
July 19th, 2008 at 2:58 am
WTF? Whatever happened to me? Why the f*ck does SkyNet always skip me? Dude, my pyrosthenic skin is EXACTLY like Bale. So much for smart machines.
July 19th, 2008 at 6:44 am
“There’s a very strong scene in the film where John Connor for the first time meets the Terminator, and he doesn’t know if he’s a good guy or a bad guy.”
This sounds awesome, seriously. They are pushing all the right buttons with this terminator film, and im actually liking the decisions they are making…i feel so dirty lol
July 19th, 2008 at 9:26 am
You’d think SkyNet would have studied our occupation of Iraq and learned that small sending massive groups of soldier units into a region full of rebels for one on one combat ends in Failure. Duh.
July 19th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
Well, that’s a bit different. For one, Skynet’s soldiers are expendable. Two, it doesn’t give a shit about collateral damage.
July 19th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
Well, with the current presidential administration I fail to see the difference. (?)
July 19th, 2008 at 3:33 pm
Hey Luke the same scene is also in T3 and T2. It was done best in T2 as Connor runs out of the mall chased by 2 Terminators.
There pushing the same buttons.
July 19th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Jerry Crack, according to Kyle Reese, SkyNet send in T-600’s that looked human until they were right in front of you, they had rubber skin and they were infiltration units that typically didn’t attack until the dogs would sniff them out. There’s a scene in T1 that shows a T-600 enter a compound and then proceeds to kill mostly defensless resistance ppl. All other scenes in T-1-2-3 showed Skynet sending in Heavy Hunter Killer Tanks and Aircracft to soften up the resistance before the ground units moved it.
Don’t forget Kyle also said that they attacked mosty at night so they could use thermal scans to locate humans hiding in debris.
Will MCG throw all this out the window and go for an over the top Transformer ripoff, ????????
July 19th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
All McG needs to do is forget about MOST of T3, and STICK TO THE STORYLINE AS TOLD IN T1 !!!!!
July 19th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Luke H,
They did that in Terminator 2. John is running for his life while the T-800 and the T-1000 fight it out in the mall. He has no idea who is after him, and thinks both of them are. John then realizes what he’s dealing with when they’re outside in the alley way. As John pokes his fingers into the gunshot holes in Arnold’s back.
Also what 790’s been saying about the 600’s. They don’t look like crude, bulkier, “robots”. They look like cheaper-looking 800’s in terms of their human design. With plastic looking skin and much simpler blood systems. Which is why they traveled out only at night. It made it harder for humans to identify them. Which is also why the human resistance had tons of dogs around them to sniff them out.
After seeing the trailer and that giant “thing” grab someone and pick them up. I expect McG to completely make this into a Transformers/War of The Worlds situation. Where we see giant robots picking people up and break-dancing on the horizon.
Like Sarah Connor carved into the picnic table, “No Hope”.
July 19th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
Right On Captain Awesome! What’s the deal with the giant hand ???????
BiG HaNd = Crap !!!!! :-(
I’m sure Kyle would have mentioned the huge giant T-10.000’s that scoop ppl up. Come on wtf ??
One step forward two steps back on everything I hear on this film !
July 20th, 2008 at 1:30 am
Yeah I remember when Kyle was telling Sarah in the car while he was reloading the sawed-off about War of The Worlds machines grabbing humans to make into milkshakes…
…not.
>:(
July 20th, 2008 at 1:06 pm
again cap with all the negativaty its a freaking teaser a good one in my books but still a teaser and who cares is they have a war of worlds/transformers feeling to it if memory serves correctly terminator came out long before they did and who knows how many more robots there could be lets hope a crap load and make it like the first 3 star wars the good ones… humans win one loose one win one and if someone comes back and says they leaked the script who cares it always changes there are good people working on this noland bale etc etc again wait till it comes out and ill bet it blows people away new spin on an old movie couldnt be better
July 20th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
oh and as for the tentical things go look in t2 at the start I believe mr know it all and my sister says hi!
July 20th, 2008 at 2:12 pm

New orders will follow…………………….>Also you are commanded to disable “write program”. —SkyNet override CPU command #1563221-46-8-)
Don’t make me look bad T-1337.

July 20th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Hey jbone, if MCG’s vision is somewhere close to yours, I seriously doubt the fans will embrace it as a new spin on the first 3.
You mention Star Wars (the good ones the first 3), its no different with the Terminator films.
And if I were you, I wouldn’t run up to Christain Bale if you see him walking down the street…
Could be a T-1337 model.
July 20th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Bale is perfect for playing a terminator. Lifeless, montone, wooden mannerisms…. CHECK!
July 20th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
jbone123,
What the hell do you mean at the start of T2? Are you talking about the giant roving skynet tanks that shot anything that moved?
July 20th, 2008 at 5:36 pm
Maybe the big hand in the trailer is the hand of God, plucking the fortunate faithful after “Judgement day” and whisking them up and away from the mean terminators to ethereal bliss.
July 20th, 2008 at 5:47 pm
The BiG HAND is trying to give us the reach around, as we get f_cked in the ass by this “film”…… 8-/
July 20th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
790,
It’s actually James Cameron’s hand trying to smite McG.
July 21st, 2008 at 12:07 am
Lol and Thanks Captain Awesome !!!
790. ;-)
I totally agree……………
July 21st, 2008 at 9:15 am
I’m not sure I need to see a Terminator who wears a red speedo and hangs out at the beach…
July 21st, 2008 at 9:59 am
Bad trailer? Did i see the same trailer? To me it was pretty nice. Especially the electronic static sounds blending into the theme song. Plus very good editing. Surprisingly though. There was really no reaction to the trailer when they showed it before TDK. I thought I would have heard some cheers. But nothing. Weird.
Plus, Christian Bale makes any movie better.
July 21st, 2008 at 12:07 pm
Nah there wasent anything in t-2 I just wanted to get you going sorry…but again freash take on an old story trailer looks cool and I dont care what anyone says once you hear the music you get into it so honestly if this sucks ill be the first one to say ok it sucked but if its decent cap i want you to say it was good deal????
And for the other haters so it may have a war of worlds feeling well guess what every end of the world story is basically the same and with bale in it and noland doing some rewrites lets all give it a chance and hope it sparks a new good wave of terminator movies!
July 24th, 2008 at 10:29 am
790
In the bunker scene in T1, the terminator that infiltrates the bunker and massacres the survivors in Reeses flashback dream was a T-800, just like Arnie. He had skin and muscle, looked just like a person, but not rubber skin. Also, note he did not have a hand gatling gun but was carrying some kinds of bad ass laser cannon. He was not spotted till the dogs barked.
Plenty of time to see how they dress up the T-600s with rubber skin, maybe the clothing they will wear will be more like a snipers ghillie suit. you lay down and blend in with the surrounding s perfectly.
July 24th, 2008 at 11:50 am
Yeah Finnman69, your prob right, its not very clear but that prob is a T-800.
Yeah we should get some better pic’s of the T-600’s maybe during Comic Con. This weekend ???
July 25th, 2008 at 11:33 pm
“skynet is NOT just a series of tubes!!!”
August 5th, 2008 at 7:36 am
u have to get arnie it won’t work with out him, pay him i’m sure “he’ll be back”
September 2nd, 2008 at 9:15 am
Just because Kyle explained about the earlier version, the T-600, does not mean it was the same machine in his nightmare scene!
Also why would Kyle mention about giant robotic hands grabbing humans, is it not enough that he scared the shit out of Sarah Connor with his insight into the future, does he really need to give every detail just to allow any follow-up movie introduce a new concept…
I also believe Roland Kickinger is playing Arnie, with a voice over by the main man himself, which should’nt be a problem, since the original character in T1 said very little…
This trilogy will show how Skynet develops more effiecent killing machines, starting with the basic materials available after Judgement Day, with Humans being one of those materials…
September 2nd, 2008 at 9:18 am
I hope it works better than Dark Knight, a failure IMO after the amazing story arc and edititing of Batman Begins…
September 25th, 2008 at 6:25 am
This film is going to be great. It links almost everything together, but leaves room for the next movie, which will be coming. This movie explains how the terminators started to look more human. It’s going to be great and I can’t wait to see it…
October 7th, 2008 at 7:27 am
Is the t 600 wearing overalls wtf??????? and that guy is too pretty be a terminator LOL……but like ive been saying and wtf i thought that the 600s where like robo cop looking oh well…….idk i cant wait for this movie finnally we get over the past and movie into the kickass future……later
