Four New Star Trek Character Posters

While no Star Trek panel will take place at Comic Con 2008, Paramount Pictures is releasing four new character teaser posters. The four posters feature (from left to right) Eric Bana as a unnamed villain, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, and Zachary Quinto as Spock. The posters combine to form the Starfleet federation logo. Strangely enough, this is actual the third Star Trek teaser poster released at Comic Con over the last three years. The previously released posters can be seen below. The one to the left was supposedly released before there was even a script.

Um, Peter, you aren't much of a Trekkie/Trekker are you?

What the posters form is the Enterprise logo found on the uniforms of crew members assigned to that ship. Much like unit or division patches in the military today each ship had it's own logo. During the period portrayed in TOS and even ST:Enterprise this was the norm, the Enterprise logo was adopted after TOS.

It's been reported in the past that Eric Bana is playing a Romulan named "Nero". So if that's Bana at the top left, does that mean Abrams is completely redoing the nature of the Romulans, since in every Trek series up to now they're an offshoot race of the Vulcans & basically looked the same?

I hate the poster.. it really does not have the trek feel to it at all. And besides the shape of the insignia making the outer edges is all wrong unless the sides of the poster are being chopped off?

The Kirk photo looks like it could be any random headshot of Chris Pine. Quinto, however, looks perfect as Spock.

On a serious note, I think this movie will be pretty good. As much as I hate the word in talking about a series, I think a "reboot" was definitely in order for Star Trek. I am interested in seeing the theatrical trailer soon.

I've always found every iteration of Star Trek I've ever seen to be campy and lame. I like J.J.'s work, so maybe I'll see it on DVD or something...Looks kinda shitty still. I've never understood why anyone really likes Star Trek, its chock full 'o corn terrible acting, and reminds me of Days of Our Lives in space...a.k.a.: bad.

Then why come on here if you don't like Star Trek. I don't like Lost or 24, but don't go on other Blogs writing shit to wind the fans up. It is the most successful Sci Fi franchise of all time, so what does that suggest about your childish comments? I think this film will do well. Abrams is a fan and his recent films have all done pretty good at the box office. I think the world is ready for a new Star Trek film after all these years.
