Megan Fox revealed to IGN that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has “twice the budget” of the first film. Not that anything Fox says should be taken literally, but lets pretend for a second that she’s relaying accurate information and not just spouting off invented exaggerations. The first film was made for about $151 million. So by Fox’s calculations, when all is said and done, Revenge of the Fallen will cost around $300 million. Imagine how much more big robot action that kind of cash can produce. The answer is double that of the first film.

In other Transformers 2 news, a new set photo from jalopnik reveals a mystery Corvette concept car. The car is surrounded by Autobots, which leads us to believe this new car is also a good guy in alternative mode.

$300 mil? i better see Unicron in this.
  • Bigzilla
I'm sure Megan Fox was in on a lot of those studio budget meetings. SHE may have been paid twice as much, but Michael Bay hates absurd budgets. Hate on him all you want, but he's been consistent on that.

But I agree with GregoryV, if it IS a $300 million movie, I want to see Unicron eat a Death Star.
  • $300 million Whoaaaaaaaaa
    That's allot

I have a feeling this is going to be bigger then the first one
  • Christopher Edwards
I think bay is saying this to keep the cast and us going in suspence.
  • Tom
Of course it's not going to be 300 mil
  • Matt
It's going to cost more than T1's $151 million.

So i wouldnt be suprised if the budget is almost double.

Here Michael go and play with you robots and heres some extra to make super duper more amazing robots and robot babies and Unicron.

I wonder if the Corvette will be Jazz reincarnated ...
  • The Jezzus
She can inform me of anything ANYTIME.
  • DeToxBoy
wonder what the 2 black 3-wheelers are going to be just behind the vette. they look cool.......btw the vette looks cool
  • frank
ah..well another day, another lame TF2 post

(sorry havent been in the office in a few days, been on set)
  • Megan Fox is not there to know the budget ... she's there for something else.
  • Jim
double the budget = more than double the action

    assuming fixed costs haven't doubled.

but no one would spend $300 mill when $150 mil will get the job done. Although who knows how things work with hollywood logic.
  • She was probably rounding it up from say... $290.7 million.
  • Jerry crack corn and I don't c
Women like Fox are for looking at only, not listening to.
  • orange cinema
i heard bay said they were making this as a standalone, without holding anything back for a third. i'm just hoping soundwave's voice is perfect.
  • Mr. T
damn, this is just sad. I was hoping to see the SAAB Aero X but it seems like they took the design and smacked a Corvette emblem on it =(
  • I say.. spend less money and hire a good director. A REAL director.
  • ethan
im not sure if this a fak photo or not i see rathchet thugh vette is probally prowl
  • razor1000
dude i wish the directors would getin in opn these posts but i guess they are scared to back up their direction lol
  • @Brad: That'd be cool.
  • FranklyMyDear
Of course the budget is gonna be double. The price of gas has doubled since the last movie came out! Maybe the Autobots should go hybrid or electric.
  • Obviously, the robots will be real this time around. It made fiscal sense to Paramount; they will not just be utilizing the robots for the Transformers series, but for all future films in their slate such as Martin Scorsese's Aschecliffe, Stephen Sommers' G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, JJ Abrams' Untitled Cloverfield Sequel, Ryan Murphy's Dirty Tricks, Michael Mann's Frankie Machine, Mission: Impossible 4 and Darren Aronofsky's The Figher.
  • Well, imagine that, another GM product turned into a Autobot. Hooray for another two hour long General Motors commercial.
  • Ty
    @ WILL

    Ummm the Mustang isn't GM...
  • NO
    @ Ty

Ummm the mustang definitely isn't GM. What you fail to gather from Will's comment is the Corvette is being presented in this movie just like the Camaro was in the last. You are welcome in advance for the enlightenment.
  • corvettefan
The corvette does look cool. But it is somewhat dissapointing because it also looks amazingly similar to the Hotwheels Mitsubishi Double Shotz concept. T1 was a great movie. $300 million!Wow! for that kind of money it better be non-stop action, without any interuptions from Shilo, or whatever his name is, and his dumb parents!
  • Jimmy
for $300 million, I better not see any friggin token black bots breakdancing (im pointing to you Jazz).

I hope we get the movie is more from the transformers perspective and we hear them speak, their plans and most importantly, their personalities

oh and a side note, the Ratchet toy figure better come with an F-ing gun this time
  • Dave
I hope those Can-Am Spyders (3 black 3 wheeled motorcylces) become part of the movie. Of course it's going to cost more, those actors knowing how successful the first film is going to demand more as well as M Bay. I hope we see more Robots and more fight scenes.. the action in the first one was top notch. Somehow that vette tells me it might be Jazz.
  • A really big project and for sure it will be a blockbuster hit next year! I'm not gonna miss this especially that I love Megan
  • USA car guy
great car, awesome design, this of coarse means that detroit can not built it due to some analyist or corperate type. Kiss it goodbye guys they will not built it
