Eagle Eye Movie Poster

DreamWorks has released a new movie poster for Eagle Eye, too bad it’s not nearly as interesting as the two released movie trailers. I really have a feeling that this film will be a lot of fun. The new one sheet is somewhat reminiscent of the poster for Enemy of the State (seen also below), which is ironic since the trailer also shows shades of the Will Smith action thriller. It seems that Bourne Ultimatium has brought the black and white poster back in style. I’m still waiting for the day when the old school painted one-sheets (ala Drew Struzan) come back in fashion and the floating head style is put to death.  Click on the image below to enlarge.

Eagle Eye hits theaters on September 26.

lol, I'm glad you put the poster of The State up.

"I’m still waiting for the day when the old school painted one-sheets (ala Drew Struzan) come back in fashion and the floating head style is put to death."

    Couldn't agree with you more.

Shai LeBeouf, more like Shave LeBeouf!

"If you want to live you have to obey?"

How much did that bad tagline cost?

I thought that was Marcia Gay Harden too.

Here's an odd story. My wife's cousin was visiting from L.A. and he told me that the night before he and some friends had been out celebrating due to the fact that his buddy had gotten a scene in MI:3.

I asked him which part it was, and he said his buddy was the guy who kidnaps Tom Cruise's wife.

A week later I was in Des Moines drinking with my brother-in-law and his buddies who all grew up in Winthrop, Iowa (small town).

They were all talking about how one of their buddies little sister had been in a movie with Val Kilmer and RDJ, and the night before she had been on Leno promoting MI:3. They were all laughing how she laughed just like her brother. I asked them what part she had in MI:3 and they said she was Tom Cruise's wife.

    Small world.

BTW, That's a crappy poster. Looks like one of my freshman photography projects.

Also, Enemy of the State was so awful I forgot it existed. Remember when Dr. Evil's kid used his fancy computer to access a store's video camera and "enhance" the image into a 360 degree view so that they could see what was in Will Smith's opposite hand?
It must have come out when everyone wanted to copy the Matrix.
    Laughably idiotic.

I am offering 1 million dollars to the one who can send me by courier.... the head of Shia LaBeouf in a box.

There's too many copycat movie posters out there. Usually its a B-movie mimicking the font and style of a film with a similar story or subject. I thought this was a From-the-Mind-of-Steven-Spielberg film. Given that pedigree and it's allegedly "hot" star shouldn't there be a little more effort and originality in its promotion.

I miss the Saul Bass-style posters of the 1960's. It was art not just advertising. The last time I saw the floating head poster and liked it was Clooney & Soderbergh's theatrical for "Out of Sight". It had a real 1970's vibe. I damn near puked across the new release wall when I saw what they did to its DVD/VHS packaging.

my gosh, can this movie get anymore unappealing?
caruso's directing is fanatically emulating every major element of modern thriller/chase films.
and the story feels like it's gonna be easily justified in some ridiculous easy-spoon-fed bullshit fashion that will make the film easily slip away in the third act. cheating an ending.

fuck this film, it's another prime example of what american cinema is becoming.

Are they hoping that people make a connection to Enemy of the State? That's certainly setting a high bar :/ Whatever.

Spielberg has a lot of repair work to do with me after Indy4. His name on this isn't helping.

If nothing else, the poster comparison is cementing the idea in my head that Labouf = W. Smith when it comes to poisoning a film with the Borg of their persona.
  • That movie looks terrible. The trailer is painful.
  • A Better Class of Criminal
Heh, that's funny. I was looking at the first two and thinking "Enemy of the State", and then I scrolled down and there it was.

    @ The Dude
Make it 1.5 Mil and you got yourself a deal.

The Dude I want Shia's head in me like right now. And this movies looks awesome!
  • monica
I'm not too crazy about it, especially the main image of Shia....his nostrils are SO flaring!! He always does that when he's stressed or angry in his movies hahaha...am I the only one who notices it?
  • Ironic Defender
Irony: The opposite of one's expecations.

I'm confused. Were there expectations for the poster to NOT look like the trailer?
  • Shia LaBeouf has turned himself into a sure bet for a movie to make millions and millions no matter what... even though his name is hard to remember (and spell)
