I’ve got that DVD, and I’m pretty sure it isn’t the prologue from IMAX it’s more like a 2 min extended trailer. Just lots of clips from the movie.

Speaking about that TDK prologue that was shown before i am legend - it came out on the batman begins limited edition bluray set few days (i guess) ago. And, man, does it look sweet :D There are several hidef rips floaing the interwebz..
And speaking about Dark Knights soundtrack - thers a bit more action then in the 1st movies. Id even say alot more.

@David - I agree. I like what they did with Batman Begins, but it wouldn’t be something I’d listen to all through very often. I’m curious to hear the new score for TDK.
(As a side note, I think the Academy got it right with their nominations last year, but my favorite, Desplat’s Lust/Caution, wasn’t even on most blog lists).

*Nice to know I’m not the only geek buying film scores :)

@gocitizen Good point regarding James Newton Howard - both he and Zimmer are amazing talents worthy of admiration. As a side note, I watched Batman Begins again yesterday in preparation for our upcoming After Dark Batman discussion on Monday and I do think I was a bit hard on Zimmer regarding his work here. There ARE recognizable themes and moments of sublime beauty in this score, but the composers choose to hide them, giving us only elusive glimpses of the main motifs (undoubtedly this is intentional, but I want my Batman themes to soar, no pun intended). As a result, the final soundtrack CD for Batman Begins is still not one I can recommend for purchase, unless you really like ambient sound and mood music.

@Tom - it took me a second but that was genius.

Zimmer deserves credit, but I think James Newton Howard deserves some love for the Batman Begins/TDK scores. Howard has been turning out amazing work for quite a while and Zimmer didn’t do these all on his own.

In addition to Giacchino, Alexandre Desplat and John Powell are two other composers that merit some attention in that conversation.
