I don’t get it. The fact that the biggest thing this series has going for it is that it sold copies at a Harry Potter-like rate is not too promising. Like, at least the Harry Potter movies (of which I’ve only seen one, being an indifferent Potter person) don’t look like strange, loner stalker, drag queen, live-action performance art photography.
And their marketing pictures are just creepy. Who wants to see a movie where the poster/banners/magazine covers look like something that the Google image search parental advisory would block?
July 10th, 2008 at 3:06 am
Dude, button up your shirt…kinda looks like a beer belly. This movie will be awful, I guarantee I won’t be seeing it!
July 10th, 2008 at 3:09 am
i just can’t stop laughing at everything we’ve seen from this movie.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:34 am
@ Justin
teenage girls. the books were written by some mormon woman who dreamt of being a whore. the marketing for this movie will have only their itchy young crotches in mind, so expect tons of loose buttons. the idea that a 100 year old vampire would choose to spend his time with an innocent teenage townie, instead of whores, is bizarre to me.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:40 am
What a weird make up job on the two of them. She looks better than ever, and he looks absolutely ridiculous. Seeing how crazy the fans of this book are (the whole T~O thing) will probably keep me from seeing the film…
July 10th, 2008 at 4:02 am
Is he supposed to look like he has downs?
July 10th, 2008 at 4:34 am
For some reason….he looks fat in this, dunno just looks like it. lol
July 10th, 2008 at 6:24 am
that cover looks gross.
July 10th, 2008 at 6:55 am
How many of y’all above have actually read Twilight? To me, you can’t simply diss or dismiss something out of hand, unless you’ve actually experienced it.
It can’t be denied that the Twilight craze is sweeping the nation-and the world-right now. There are thousands of true fans out there, and that’s why it comes as no surprise to me that the movie is on the cover of EW. After all, the movie is a pre-guaranteed success, opening weekend if nothing else, thanks to the fans of the book.
While I’ll admit that I’m not a huge fan of the way the picture above was taken, it does get me excited for the movie, and I still look forward to it. I’m not going to be upset over one small promo shot.
And by the way-it’s not simply ‘teenage girls’ who obssess. There are women ranging from 20 to 60 who love this book, and the Romeo & Juliet esque story therein. There are also a lot of guys who enjoy it as well (Just visit twilightguy.com and you’ll see what I mean).
July 10th, 2008 at 7:05 am
I agree Crystal. I don’t think people should criticize a book series/movie without reading it first. I’ve heard a lot of people criticize the books and then read them and love them.
I’ll also admit that I don’t really like this cover, but that has nothing to do with the book or the movie. That’s the fault of the make up people or camera person or even the person who played with the image afterward.
I, for one, can’t wait for this movie. I’ll be there at midnight, just as I will for the next book on August 2nd.
July 10th, 2008 at 7:11 am
I’ve read these books, and I’m a grown woman. However, I think I’m with the majority here–the guy (Edward) looks ridiculous and should button up his shirt, and everything I’ve seen for the movie points to a poor translation of the book.
I’m hoping that it’s just the pessimist in me and that this movie will actually be as good as (or better) than the book, but so far, no dice. :(
Ah, well, I’ll just wait until the fourth book releases in August to get my Twilight fix.
July 10th, 2008 at 7:15 am
Oh. Your. God. I didn’t know Powder was in this movie.
July 10th, 2008 at 7:21 am
…for ppl that don’t really like the series- some of you know an awful lot about it…
Just an observation.
July 10th, 2008 at 7:49 am
@ Cap’n Awesome
Speaking of retarded, I’m focusing more on the mental capacity of the female character. I mean, c’mon, an apple for a vampire?
Is there some deep message I’m missing here?
July 10th, 2008 at 8:06 am
OMG he almost has hair on his chest, thats so cute!
Probably won’t see it until it ends up on dvd, and thats only a maybe. Unless for some reason it actually ends up being good.
July 10th, 2008 at 8:18 am
I’ve tried to understand other points of view on Twilight. I’ve even tried to read the book. Put it this way, she makes R.L.Stine look like Stephen King.
The thing I don’t get here is how everyone is expecting this film to be a huge success. This film doesn’t just have a target demographic, it’s their only demographic. No self respecting male of any age (dads included) will ever glance at this garbage unless they go by sheer accident. The only males that will be in this audience will be the stereotypical gay best friend. Then you have to take into account the number of girls who are turned off by the corny Anne Rice gothic look when they had previously enjoyed the books. So you’re demographic continues to shrink. For comparison this of The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, but with goths to alienate the audience. Did I mention the film looks bad?
Don’t forget The Golden Compass sold a #$%^load of books too.?
July 10th, 2008 at 8:27 am
Cover up that bird-chest. It’s almost ruining my breakfast.
July 10th, 2008 at 8:34 am
Why would I read the book when the movie is coming out?? :P
Who cares about the books at this point. They are marketing a movie, not the books. So far, the marketing for this movie has been horrible. The teenies will love it for sure. And that alone will make it successful. I don’t think it can touch the Potter movies and storyline.
Not to mention, Diggory looks nasty in this pick, and the chick is not attractive at all. So, that side of the marketing isn’t working here.
July 10th, 2008 at 8:52 am
This movie is going to be horrid.
I’ve actuslly read the book too (unfortunately). It’s easily the worst work of popular fiction since R.L. Stine’s disgrace-to-literature, Goosebumps.
Twilight was beyond repetetive, had no sense of originality, had undeveloped and flat characters, contained not one shred of romance …which is depressing, considering it’s supposed to be a love story, and a predictable yet absurd plot.
In other words, it’s perfect for the easily fooled youth in todays western society.
@Crystal and everyone else who asks “Have you read the book(s)” or says “Read the book(s)” this is not a book review site, it’s a MOVIE site. Speculation will be about the movie not the books. For the love of god I wish people would get this through their heads.
Also, please remember and respect people’s rights to make fun of and pick apart anything they might see posted regarding the movie. Good grief….a lot of the stuff said is meant to goad you.
As for the cover well, it’s meant to sell on the newsstand and EW knows how crazy so many girls/women are panting over the books/movie, so it’s good business sense. I’m not sure what they were thinking when they styled Rob’s hair, but it’s looks bad. And why are the people on the cover of EW always looking slightly awkward? Though he does have the Edward stalker look going on.
July 10th, 2008 at 8:55 am
In after teenage girl and bored housewife BAWWWfest.
I did read Twilight, and I STOPPED reading it way past halfway because it was so BORING!! She may as well have written it about bored teens getting horny in the boonies, because the fact that the dude is a FUCKING vampire is like a sidenote. HE’S A VAMPIRE!!! Sheesh!! And a virgin!! He’s been alive almost 100 years and he’s a virgin.
OMG LOL.
p.s. In this pic, her hair is way too black to be bella.
July 10th, 2008 at 8:56 am
OMG HIS BELT IS UNDONE!!!
Seriously, I just noticed it!! That’s like…. so wrong. Considering the books are a giant vehicle for abstinence this just seems so hypocritical. >_< Plus he looks like a creepier, fatter version of Lestat from Queen of the Damned… and that’s not a good thing.
@Your Mom
We here at /film do our research. It’s called Google and it is our friend.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:03 am
@Crystal and Heidi
People can hate on this without reading/seeing it because they’re that in tune with their own tastes. I only had to read a plot synopsis for this, and look at the fan base, to see that it’s something i’d never watch. Truth be told though, I did watch the trailer. It pretty much confirmed what I had already assumed. I’m sure posts about this movie get a lot of hits from fans of the book that don’t come to this site any other time, because the people I see on here regularly seem to have no interest in anything pertaining to this movie.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:04 am
never read the book but does anyone else think this movie looks retarded
July 10th, 2008 at 9:08 am
“Considering the books are a giant vehicle for abstinence this just seems so hypocritical.”
haha, now the film sounds even better to me.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:26 am
Seriously, is that supposed to make me want to see the movie? Sometimes I wonder what goes on through the green lights’ heads.
Plus, though not bad, Stewart looks really different there. Don’t get me started with Diggory.
July 10th, 2008 at 9:35 am
Who knew Cedric Diggory was a vampire?
July 10th, 2008 at 9:43 am
godammit, that image is ridiculous. i like how the twihards wont give in and admit this production will totally fail. the fucker is either wearing a really bad wig, or they totally messed with his hair. she doesnt look right at all, she looks like a soap opera actress or something. but its not their fault, its the camera mans fault, right heidi? i can’t believe they approved that shit for the cover, it literaly looks disgusting. Im calling bullshit, this is to be a joke. must have been photoshopped or something, there is no way in hell this is legit.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:08 am
@duce - lol, it does kind of look like his belt could be undone, but some lame reason it’s buckled at his hip. I’m not sure why we really need to see the belt buckle, probably product placement.
oh crap….I spelt your name wrong…sorry, Duca!
July 10th, 2008 at 10:13 am
@Meli yeah, I noticed that after I posted lol. And don’t worry about the name *whispers* It’s not my real one *whispers*
July 10th, 2008 at 10:21 am
I’d go see it. Maybe it’ll be good or maybe it’ll be crap.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:40 am
They’re totally waiting for marriage, I can tell.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:45 am
@joshmayhood I agree that people can dislike something if it goes against their tastes, but they don’t have to be a hater. If I went by reviews/synopsis for everything before I watch or read it, there’d be a lot of things I miss out on. Instead, I like to form opinions for myself.
This book is for people who enjoy a good mix of reality and fantasy, and who are fans of vampires and other mystical creatures. It’s a great romance novel. I just don’t think people should automatically dismiss it based on a picture or a single synopsis. I think fans of the book will go see the movie to see if it holds true to their vision of the book (like fans of Harry Potter saw the movies, or comic fans watch comic-based movies).
By the way, they’re already in the process of working on a movie for the second book, New Moon, which I am also looking forward to.
There is no reason that this movie should not be on the cover of EW.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:50 am
Eh, I’m a fan of Twilight, but this cover really sucks. All the other fans I know think its horrible too.
that guy is nauseating.
July 10th, 2008 at 10:59 am
Cute. I hope the ads stay in the MTV-zone. This crap and Hannah Montana are definitely in the same boat…be it a big one. Vampires are the suck.
July 10th, 2008 at 11:04 am
If you look at how far to the left his belt buckle is, looks like his pants are open as well. :barf:
July 10th, 2008 at 11:15 am
@ crystal
you dont get it do you? we dont need to read the book. i didnt read any harry potter books, and i still enjoyed the movies. they make me want to read harry potter. I didnt read LOTR books either, but i think the movies are awesome. if fucking LOTR showed a picture of Legolas looking all sleazy and gross like edward up there, im sure they would get the same treatment. its low quality and you have to admit that. it is pure shit and it doesnt look good. you say you can form your own opinions, but i doubt it, because you still defend this steaming pile
July 10th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
@ april
the apple is supposed to represent temptation/forbidden fruit and the like. Because he’s a vampire and she’s a human and they love each other and blah blah blah. That’s why the apple is on the cover of the frist book.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
@cdawg
i like how you threw in that ‘blah blah blah’ so people wont think you are totally gay…. the apple is actually a ball of cheese and corn.. thats why the image is so cheesy and corny.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Ok,
Since there are obviously some fans of Twilight on here I have a few questions just so I can grasp the story, cause right now I have logic problems.
So Edward is a 100(or so) year old vampire who is going to school in the middle of nowhere… and he’s a virgin and he drinks the blood of animals. Also the sunlight does nothing to him. Is he affected by holy water, wooden crosses, or stakes?
I’d like to know cause right now he just sounds like a 100-year old guy with down syndrome, who is emo-goth, and has a blood fetish cause he thinks it is cool. Also, (just applying logic here) is this film going to be NC-17? Sure she is 17 in the book but doesn’t this sound a like a pedophilic relationship with a 100-year old guy hanging around a school. Why the hell would a vampire need to go to highschool. Was he a drop-out in the early 20th century or he is just there to pick up borderline legal girls? And her scent makes it difficult for him to resist penetrating her… with his teeth?
All I can think of now is Matthew McConaughey in Dazed & Confused as a Goth.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:53 pm
All i have to say is I read the first book because my girlfriend is really into it.
It wasn’t that bad but not great so I had no desire to read the rest of the series. I think that the movie will be awful for many reasons. The story line is just eh for one. Its a chic flic with a horror twist of sorts. It will draw upon the current fan base and not much more, and many of the fans may avoid it to refrain from a disturbance to the series.
And I would like to reiterate what Big daddy said about reading the book. I haven’t read Harry Potter, or LOTR (Unless you count The Hobbit) and i still saw the movies because they had great advertising and great production value. So far based on what i see from Twilight it seems that it is a softcore Porno featuring a pretty girl and an albino child molester. They just don’t seem like they have what it takes to pull me and oh so many other people in.
Count me out on this one.
July 10th, 2008 at 1:59 pm
@Gorman - lol you’ve more or less hit the nail on the head there. And apparently nothing can kill him short of being caught on fire or ripped to shreds. So no holy water, stakes etc. He’s basically an immortal who drinks animal blood to survive. That to me is NOT a freaking vampire. Sorry, it’s not being “original” it’s just effing bull poop.
July 10th, 2008 at 2:31 pm
lol @ April’s comment
July 10th, 2008 at 3:27 pm
Personally, I don’t understand why you guys are bashing the idea of a different type of vampire. Do they all have to be destroyed by religious means? Because that’s just bullshit.
I admit I am a fan of the books. I think they tell a good story, especially in the second and third books when they get deeper into vampire lore.
I also admit that the poster from EW doesn’t look all that great and that I’m not certain about the movie.
To answer your question Gorman: He’s going to high school to look normal. Their family doesn’t want to broadcast the fact that they’re vampires or otherwise abnormal.
Never mind, obviously you guys think that the only people willing to read/watch this are gay men and retarded teenage girls. So what’s the point?
July 10th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Aw come on now, not every vampire has to be scary! Angel in the buffyverse wasn’t scary, unless of course he had that one moment of perfect happiness i.e. when he and Buffy did the naughty. Then he lost his soul and turned all evil/scary again. Anyway, Edward and Bella’s romance is not anymore creepy than Angel and Buffy’s romance. LoL
@ Gorman- Edward and family don’t feed on humans, they feed on animals and live among humans, posing as humans. Currently they live in Forks, WA and he goes to school because he posing as his immortal 17yr old self. Bella moves to Forks from Arizona and there starts their story. It’s a fluffy teen romance.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:32 pm
Okay, folks…obviously this story isn’t going to be for everyone. I think the character rendition on this cover is a little bizarre, but I GET it because I know about the story. Edward is supposed to be pale, and he’s supposed to be sexy, yes the apple is significant both literally and figuratively. The story is mainly a love story, hence the ‘harlequin romance’ theme of the picture. Some people may think the marketing sucks; but there may actually be a few romance buffs who don’t know about Twilight. If they read EW Magazine…they will now know about it. Personally, I’m glad some of the posters above have vowed not to come to the movie. I wouldn’t want any haters in the audience ruining my good time when I go to see it.
July 10th, 2008 at 3:35 pm
@Meli - It’s not that they have to be scary, it’s that they have to be vampires. Angel drinks blood, can die by stake or sunlight, etc. As far as I’m concerned he is simply a immortal who must drink blood to survive. That’s very different from a ‘vampire’. They don’t make me believe for one minute that those people are vampires. They have no weaknesses. argh… I don’t wanna get into it again. >_<
July 10th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
@duca - I’m not trying to frustrate you! I totally see where you’re coming from and I can agree with what you’re saying. They are like a new breed of immortal creature with a couple of vampiric similarities.
July 10th, 2008 at 4:03 pm
@Meli
Thanks for the info. I’ll cut back on the pedo comments.lol
For me there are two categories of vampires.
A. The Religious Vampire (most commonly Catholic) which is afraid of crosses, garlic, and running water. This type can’t enter houses without permission and will likely die from a stake to the heart or is exposed to UV/Sunlight. Also they tend not to show a reflection. Examples are classic Dracula and Angel.
B. The Hard Sci-fi vampire. They’re intelligence is dependent on the author but you can be rest assured that superstitions don’t hurt them. Also as far as I can tell there hasn’t been any implied immortality with this type; just that they’re superhuman. Meaning you can still take their head off with a shotgun. They do however still die from sunlight. Eg. I Am Legend
Obviously I think the defining characteristic of a vamp is their aversion to sunlight.
July 10th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
This cover is so funny, I absolutely love it. Very tounge in cheek and I’ll bet S.M. is having a good laugh. For all you twilighters freaking out: Have a good chuckle and relax, the pictures inside the magazine are much more realistic.
July 11th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
hmm.. wow some people r really harsh on here, i agree i don’t like the cover.. for 1 thing Edward is supposed to be dazzling, this cover didn’t do him any justice, perhaps it’s the artist’s own perception of how he/she imagined edward & bella =S
well i’m still looking forward to the movie, at 1st i had my doubts about robert & Kristen too , but they’ve grown on me, i appreciate them bringing my beloved characters to life! ^^
oh & i think robert hates his non existent 6-pack as we are, he kinda said so himself, he actually gave up the time to isolate hiself from fam&friends to gain insight of his character!.. goshh give the cast a break!
p.s. haters! i recommended the book lots of my fiends and they love it!.. for one of my friend it was actually the 1st book he willingly read. y don’t you haters go spend the wasted time giving good comments on the books you love, instead of wasting time here.. ‘hate is a passion’ ^^ u care enough to research twilight mwuahaha
July 11th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
=( people.. ok true this is movie not the book, but i guess the reason us fans are so in2 it, is because we loved the book, whether you did or not.. so were just glad we get to see the book in visual form.. well like other fan’s hopefully the movie will be good =), never know btw did you guys actually read the rules ‘ no hate speech’
now i think some of you are turning it sleazy, his pants aren’t open, how did your eyes end up there anyway?! especially if you hate it so much? lol, the costume people did his belt in a odd way its what’s left of the belt hanging down . i hate this pic too
be a little more considerate, go praise the movies/books etc you like instead
July 11th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
#1. Who said that Twilight vampires don’t have an aversion to sunlight? If you read the books you’d know that there’s a reason they live in the least sunny place in America… Ok so the sunlight doesn’t technically hurt them but they still can’t go out in public without cloud cover or they’d be immediately identified as supernatural. #2. The best part of Twilight vampires is that they can’t be killed by a regular stake or bullet… What kind of immortal dies so easily? A pitiful one.
As for the cover. It’s terrible. Robert Pattinson is ridiculously good-looking under normal circumstances and it’s not his fault they powdered him up, runined his hair, and dressed him like a rapist. This is not an adequate representation of the Edward Cullen Twilighters know and love… and it’s not even how either of them look in the films.
Obviously whoever worked on this photoshoot was sadly mistaken… or on crack. Either way, one bad picture shouldn’t be a detterrant from seeing what has the potential to be an entertaining movie.
July 12th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
i’ve read twilight, new moon, and eclipse they’re alright. acually no, they suck, and so will this movie.
July 12th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
@ Tal.. wooo! xD that should clear some things upp! twilight vampires are genuine, what’s the point of following the croud?! ahaha.. Stephenie gets my appraisal for originality! & it was her 1st ever novel ^^
every other vampire stories i have seen are all the same, stakes/holy water/ turning to ashes when exposed to sunlight.
the movie best justify the bok ¬¬ lol no pressure =p
July 14th, 2008 at 10:56 am
okay, so i am an avid twilight series fan, school night when i was supposed to be studing for finals were spent reading all three books! BUUUUTTTTT…. im not gonna lie you all.. the movie looks like its gonna be crappy because of the actors, the way it was made and the director.. if they would have kept the original movie cast.. the movie may have pulled in a broader audience.. the main guy character in the covenant was supposed to play jacob, and the brit from house was supposed to be carlisle.. much better than what they have!! and as for the poster.. it looks like they were not together when the picture was taken and it was photoshoped together.. it just looks stupid! but.. im not saying i wont go and watch it when it comes out.. because… I WILL!!
July 14th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
@everyone leaving rude comments
First of all, no, I’ve never posted here at /films before, nor do I post anywhere regularly. Secondly I saw this article last night and read through the comments and was pretty much disgusted to the point that I wasn’t going to justify any of them with any sort of response. On my way to work today it popped into my head again, and I couldn’t stop thinking about some things.
I was absolutely disgusted with the lack of consideration that there would be children reading these posts, and some of the language that was used within them. Then the lack of intellect and education used within most of them was appalling as well. So let me school you just a bit.
Yes the primary demographic for this movie is going to be teenage girls, but not solely. I am a 33 year old woman, and plan to see the movie at midnight with a group of friends who are the same age as myself or older. I know several older women, as well as younger men and women who read the books. I even know a few men my age who read the books. SM couldn’t remain atop best seller lists by teeny boppers alone, and all three of these books as well as her other bood “The Host” are there and not falling. The cast was not everyone’s first choice, but I think they will do a phenomenal job.
Also the fact that so many of you believe that the relatioinship between the two main characters is pedofilic is absurd. Yes, Edward has been alive for 100 or so years, but he has also been 17 for 100 or so years… witht he mind of a teenager, a mature one, but still a teenager.
And who stated that the defining characteristic of a vampire is an aversion to sunlight? Every vampire I know lusts for blood. I can’t think of one that doesn’t, nor can I think any other creature that is primarily a blood drinker. As for an aversion to sunlight, SM’s vampires do have an aversion to sunlight, just a for slightly different reasons, and I find it refreshingly brilliant. Anyway, is Blade not a daywalker? It’s called literary lisence people and SM is not the first to take it. All vampires have superhuman strength. Vampires are mythological, and who says that in the process of passing along lore the ways to kill a vampire didn’t get fictionallized as well… again literary license!
One person said here at /films they do their research, but I have seen little evidence of that… no one says you have to read the books, but go to the Twilight Lexicon, and check out the sections they have regarding SM’s vampires, werewolves, etc. there. You could learn a lot.
No one is shoving the books down you’re throat. No one is saying you have to go see the movie. This cover isn’t very good I agree. Kristen looks amazing, but Rob’s makeup is over done, and the overall effect leaves a lot to be desired. I still plan to buy it for the articles however, one of which is about SM herself, and the other the movie. You have every right to state any of these facts. But lets use a little poise, and not be so blatently rude and vile.
July 15th, 2008 at 7:26 am
for all of yall that that do not like this book why are yall looking at stuff about it? and twighlight is the best book in the world!!!!!!!!!everyone i know is in love with it!<3
July 16th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
The cover looks so trashy. Okay, main audience: Teenage girls.
Right about now those teenage girls mother’s aren’t so happy about the cover I assume v_v
Talk about bad marketing…
July 17th, 2008 at 12:31 pm
@Andy: Actually, any magazine/website that showcases anything twilight, even if the response is negative (especially if the response is negative) = publicity for that venue. This article has way over the average responses of most of the articles on this website and /films doesnt even register on the major Twilight news sites. I’m sure EW did not intented to piss of so many Twilight Fangirls, but one thing people are starting to catch onto is that Twilight = hits. And the movie isnt even coming out until December. So far, the marketing of this movie has been brilliant.
July 18th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
To answer April’s question, the apple is on the cover of the book. It’s supposed to mean “The forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest” or some religious crap like that.
July 18th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I can’t say I agree with TrevorR. No romance?
These books are so mushy they make me want to puke.
July 18th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Gorman:
It would NEVER be NC-17. Unfortunately, we have just encountered a book series about vampires where sex is obviously not in the picture. If Steph wasn’t a stay-at-home Mormon mom that was writing for a bunch of teeny bopper girls and desperate house wives, maybe the books would have a little sex like they were supposed to. I mean, how can a vampire story exclude sex?
Another thing that pisses me off is that women like the books for that exact reason. Girls want guys like Edward, guys that don’t pressure them into doing something they don’t want to and guys that love them just for who they are and not for the love making. It infturiates me when half the teenagers I see nowadays are sleazy and despereate to impress men with sex. (Sorry, I know I’m going off on a tangent. I’m not pissed at you, your questions merely reminded me of a comment that pissed me off earlier by some imp that THINKS I have not read the books. I have. Believe me, I have.)
Her scent does make it diffictult to resist assaulting her. Even though he’s a “vegetarian” vampire, he’s still a vampire and like any vegetarian, craves meat every once in a blue moon.

What the bloody fudge?
I spelled “infuriates” wrong.
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:31 am
Look. This movie will either be a work of genius of total bull-sh*t. Ok? Stopp talkin all dis sh*t about the book, because about 25% of you over talking crap have acually read the trilogy or evn one book! Ok a 100 year-old vampire wants to spend da rest of eternity with an 18 yaer old girl, If you dont like it take it up with the auther instead of dissin Twilight. Twilight is a phenomenon, its not da next harry potter, its the new generation. stephenie meyer has 4 books J.K. Rolling has damn near eight. You don’t think they can compete but they can. Twilight has taken over, good movie, no good movie. So get over it. I personally think this movie will suck but Im still gone see it, so Shut Up and Im gonna repost this in another languege to show you how pissed off I am bye,bye
July 22nd, 2008 at 11:33 am
Mirar.

@ jordan
wow you are so mad, you copied and pasted that whole thing into babel fish to show how mad you are. looks like babel fish didnt work so well, too bad you dont speak the language so you could spell check it… what a retard.
July 22nd, 2008 at 1:28 pm
@ Jordan - You accomplished nothing, but to once again show how so many members of the fanbase cannot allow anyone else to have a negative opinion about Twilight. So because you have read the books it is OK for you to say the movie may suck, but since others haven’t they aren’t allowed to comment? Ridiculous.
July 22nd, 2008 at 8:25 pm
TWILIGHT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I think the cover for the movie looks a hell of a lot better than the cover on EW. The cover on EW sends a wrong message. The look for Bella is just all wrong. The book never described her as a girly-girl wearing a dress AT ALL!(Did anyone happen to read the Epilogue at the end of Twilight?) Edward on the EW cover….well…way different than the movie trailers or the movie cover,(but I’ll always have my version of him..:p). I am very excited to see the movie..they all are amazing actors and actresses. Just give it a chance because any negativity about it now you just may happen to regret it. December is a long, long while from now and people change their minds a lot. (More than they realize). After the movie hits, THEN huge debates and fights should start up about weather it stunk or not. It kills me how people say mean, nasty things about something they haven’t even given a chance to. I have high hopes for it! I’m ready for the new release of Stephenie’s new book and her new movie. I definelty have already made plans to observe it and check it out!
July 24th, 2008 at 9:28 am
Finally a difference in skin color!
Finally Bella looks tanner than Edward
if you notice in the Newer trailer in the car when there hands touch Edward is tanner that Bella….
Kind of a Problem there…
July 24th, 2008 at 4:14 pm
Jordan, you git! Your grammar in the Spanish version is just as shitty as your grammar in the English version. Before you make the feeble attempt of telling me off in MY native language, learn English.
I swear, it’s so Goddamn mortyfing that I have to be better at English when I had to learn two languages.
I’ve read the books.
I can trash talk them all I want.
July 24th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
The fans re-photoshopped the image, and it looks 1,000 times BETTER than what EW came up with; that cover doesn’t reflect the book at all. They’re not the best books in the world, but they’re captivating, or else so many people wouldn’t like it. Even people who were frustrated/annoyed with it at times, admit that they couldn’t put it down. As someone with no previous writing experience and who wrote it in only three months, I think she did a pretty good job. Let’s hope she continues to improve because her stories do have appeal.
July 25th, 2008 at 5:54 am
Ok First to Ant. I can speak proper I chose not to. Second I got a C in Spanish so sue me. And yes because I read the book I can say what ever I want bout it. So shove it up your ass haters
July 25th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Wow. The cover doesn’t do justice, but it isn’t horrendus either. Robert Pattinson does not have a beer gut, and whoever thinks Kristen looks hot on the cover just think so because her dress is falling off. All of you haters should just stop trash talking the movie and books; read the headline of the article guys, Twilight’s taking over. Like it or not. Also, one picture on the cover of a magazine doesn’t make the movie bad, and it wasn’t exactly Robert or Kristen who got to choose their makeup, clothes or props; so if you’re going to diss, diss the stylists behind the photoshoot.
July 26th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU HATERS! You guys are just so damn negative towards this movie and the Twilight books!! I’VE READ MANY OF PEOPLES INPUTS AND MOST OF THEM ARE NOT EVEN ABOUT THE MOVIE OR THE BOOKS! PLEASE GET IT RIGHT YOU GUYS! Also to whoever thinks Twilight is mushy and gross….I mean……..come on. We all would be very lucky to have a love like Edward and Bella and NO NOT EVERY VAMPIRE MOVIE HAS TO HAVE SEX. YOU DON’T NEED TO HAVE SEX TO BE IN LOVE TO WHOEVER SAID THAT! I respect everyones opinion, but how can people say negative things when you obviously haven’t read or experienced it!
HATERS GO AND READ PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 28th, 2008 at 11:53 am
take this silly entertainment weekly picture out of everything, read the books and then make opinions. this picture does not represent the movie or books well at all. i think the movie is going to be great but will probably seem silly to people who have not read the books which is reasonable.
July 28th, 2008 at 1:34 pm
Insomnia, I was frustrated and annoyed with the books. I could put them down easily. It’s a miracle I got through them. I only did so people could stop telling me to read them and they’re still telling me!
I HAVE READ THE BOOKS. I CAN TRASH TALK THEM ALL I WANT!!!!!!!!
Jordan, next time get an A in Spanish before you insult me in the language. I don’t believe you can type or spell correctly, even if someone were to hold you at gunpoint. Choose to speak and write LIKE AN ADULT before you even TRY putting me down. You’ve read the books and THINK you can argue with me and can’t even spell. I’ve read the books and am merely saying I don’t like them, ergo I’m smarter than you.
Bella, all the negative comments have something to do with the movie or books. And no, not everyone wants to be romantically involved with someone that could eat us. And yes, every vampire book or movie should have sex. The gothic genre and the original vampire stories have demanded it for centuries. Just because a Mormon stay-at-home home and a bunch of teenyboppers WISH they could have a relationship without sex because they’re to scared to admit they’re not ready does NOT mean a good vampire tale must lack in some sort of sensuality. And you do have to have sex to be in love. Sadly, that’s just the way the real world works. And vampire stories were sadly created by men as some means to entertain themselves, so yes, there will always be sex in them.
For the kajilionth time, I’ve read the books and am free to say my piece. Just because I can’t agree with teenybopper “lik OMG” people doesn’t mean my opinion’s wrong. FYI, at least I can present myself in public without text talking, thank you very much.
Don’t tell me what to do. I’ve read the books and I’m NOT going back.
July 28th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
Um, Ant, that’s great and everything, but when I said “even people”, I didn’t mean everyone, lol (I should be clear next time, but thanks for sharing though?). I also didn’t say you couldn’t trash talk them; what I gave was my pesonal opinion and an observation. Like myself, I know of people who were frustrated with the book and annoyed at times, but were still captivated by the story. My words were and once again will be cut off, but incase you thought I said they’re “The best books in the world”, I said they’re not, but I still like them. It’s all a matter of taste; for me it was an easy read and an overall enjoyable book.
You don’t like it, that’s great.
July 30th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
Dear Ant, First off I respect your opinion, everyone is different and has their views. What I meant when I said “we all would be lucky to have a love like Edward and Bellas” I meant not being in love with something that could eat us. Scratch out the whole vampire part, and the whole “thurst for blood” and that’s true love. I meant having a love where a guy treated us so respectively like Edward did to Bella. We are not talking about the average, gothic genre, vampire stories, where sex is demanded in your case, we’re talking about Twilight Series. Twilight is a whole new Series. We are talking about Stephenie’s view of romance and Vampire’s. NO YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE SEX TO BE IN LOVE!!! If you really love each other then its between them two to decide when the right time is(and again, sex should not be required!!)Sadly that is NOT how the real world works when it comes to love-I believe. I do agree MOST vampire stories have sex in them but some don’t, like Twilight , and that is refreshing and unique, and no I’m not some “OMG, Like?” girl you said most who comment on Twilight are. I am a real person who knows how to speak proper English and never start my sentences out with “OMG”. I have my views and you have yours, and I am mature to except that. No your opinion is certainly not wrong, not at all, and just keep in mind everyone elses isn’t either. I for one do not talk text at all so please keep in mind who you are addressing. No one is telling you what to do, they are simply expressing their views. Please, please don’t take this offensive at all when you read this-again I am just expressing my point of view, and that is how the real world works.
August 1st, 2008 at 12:10 pm
Okay, i am a huge twilight fan,
….but Robert scares me a bit this cover is really creepy
hes cute but i didnt picture edward looking like him i pictured him so much hotter.
and i dont like kristen as bella i dont think her voice fits the character of bella,
i think Hayden Christensen and Alexis Bledel Shouldve played Edward and Bella :)
August 1st, 2008 at 1:38 pm
You sadistic son of a bitch! Ant you can’t tell me what I can and cant do! You talkin all dat raw shit but you cleary kno nothing about the book or the movie because You would know that isn’t Edward, that isn’t Bella.
I don’t really carre too much about Spanish, I can get an A in whateva the Fuck I want so shut up. You sound like one of dem people who love down playing on other peoles intellonce to hid how stupid you are!
You cant say I ain’t smart for two reasons, one cause you dont kno me, an 2 Im in the 12th grade, Imma bout to gradute. No matter how hard school got I aint drop out so need to shut da fuck up you little dyke. And another thing, I have to be smart to be able to read dem thick ass Twilight saga books anyway.
so heres my finally summary: YOUR A DICK WHO NEEDS TO START SUCKING THEM! Rosalie Lover out. Holla!
August 1st, 2008 at 1:43 pm
O yea another thing. I never Use sentaces that sound like ” OMG! like LoL” So don’t put me in that personona. I can speak properly and I dont need a gun 2 my head to do so
August 1st, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Dear Jordan,
Please learn how to use a spell checker. It would make you look like your not a dumb fuck.
Bye! :)
August 2nd, 2008 at 7:11 am
Good job on finally changing “pissed of” to “pissed off” in your handle.
August 2nd, 2008 at 11:15 am
I really don’t care if Edward is a vampire or not! He treated Bella with so much passion and love you’d even forget he was something that could eat her-and people can agree with that! Bella loves him so much she WOULD let him eat her…remember? She would die for him just like he would die for her,and it is all for love! I’m pretty sure when people look at it that way they would be lucky to have a love like that, Edward and Bella’s. Hell, if I was Bella I sure would do the same thing. I know these characters are not real as SM sure makes them sound to be, but if there was such thing as Vampire’s and you got romantically involved with one, you would give your life to him-all for love, knowing he would do the same. I think people love these books so much is because they wish that kind of love existed in our messed up world today. People don’t know the true meaning of love today-they abuse the word. Hell who cares, again, if Ed is a vampire or not, I sure wish someone would love me that way someday, and many, many people probley think the same thing. It’s amazing how Stephenie wrote these wonderful books and never seen Dracula or any other vampire, horror movies. People who don’t like her books, it’s ok, but you got to remember she is out selling EVERYONE! So many people love her books for their own personal reasons, and probley including the one I already stated. She is an amazing author who sure knows how to write a good book and keep a huge(actually around the world) audience. So that is my discussion on Ed and Bella-they rock!
August 2nd, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Guys, let’s keep it to the Twilight Movie and books, not about Jordan’s typing and language. People are different and you shouldn’t put them down….this is exactly what I was talking about not sticking to the Twilight discussion!
August 4th, 2008 at 8:11 am
if you are in the 12th grade, thats pretty pathetic. you should at least have a handle of your keyboard and be able to type intelligently. you should also be able to type with an intelligent ‘voice’ and not sound like a fucking idiot..and staying in school is not a feat of strength, its the minimum that is expected of you, so dont act like the fact that you are in the 12th grade means you are some genius. you cant even spell graduate.
to satisfy bella, and stay on topic, twilight books should not be discussed, just the movie.
August 4th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Well everyone is talking about the books and the movie, plus the covers. Twilight invasion has begun, you can talk of anything Twilight!
August 6th, 2008 at 1:29 am
Well for someone who claims that this is gonna bomb && its gonna be horrible && all that stuff, you sure spend an awful lot of time on the topic. If you hate it, why do you talk about it so much? I’d be willing to be that those people are gonna be the first in line to see the movie.
Now i agree that the picture is not the best && it does look like something is wrong with him, but seriously, get over it. Its just a picture. I LOVE the series && im excited to see the movie, so i’ll see all you “haters” there. =]
August 10th, 2008 at 10:32 am
omg twilight is a great book u have 2 read it 2 understand the movie just saying that it looks horible means nothing u have 2 be open minded and because almost every teen age grls is goining to be at the movie release dec 12 some guys r gonna go 2 i wouldnt be suprized if they did and ill know cause ill be there wit all my bffs just stop complaining about the movie and read the books thats all i can say
August 12th, 2008 at 7:19 am
Don’t listen to those people below, this movie is going to Great. I’m sure not as good as the books( as no movie is as good as the book) but they are sure going to try. The books are amazing and anyone who is saying negative comments…Do you even read the books or are you just making judgement on something you know nothing about?!(which is most-likely the story)
August 13th, 2008 at 7:10 am
Ahh, everyone must be having such fun, I mean I had fun reading the comments, thought i have to say-not happy with all of them. Look, we all know that the picture is crap and although this may not be a site strictly about the book, it would have to be a big part of it coz without the book there would be no movie…(sorry for stating the obvious, its just that some people must’ve forgotten thie tiny fact)
Either way, if you want to see a good look into what the movie will look like, here’s a better trailer: http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?id=1585900&vid=226476
it may not be highly refined but if you want to make judgement on the movie, u should see this trailer instead of going on the crappy magazine cover, though the articles are very good
i must say that the twilight saga is the best series i’ve ever read and yes, i am a father of three daughters who introduced me to these books and my wife and i have been squabling over who gets to read the books. I am though, very disappointed with the cover and if i hadn’t read the books i might’ve thought twice about letting my daughters see the movie, but-on december 12th we’re all going to see the movie
Please, guys using the f-word isn’t acceptable on a site like this and saying that the guy on the cover has “down-syndrome” is a very thoughtless thing to say-insults like this are chucked around harmlessly and to someone who had to live with there brother having down syndrome this is very painful and disrespectful.
But to finish on a lighter note, twlight looks like a very good movie and now that i have just finished the final installment, i’m eager to see what they make of the movie
August 14th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
There is a reason the cover is so SENSUAL (and there is a difference between sensuality and sexuality, not that the media likes to let people think that way). It’s a vampire love story. Vampires have always been associated with seduction. Vampires crave the blood of young women, in the books, this is said to be a craving that is equal to the vampire’s sexual urges. There’s the idea of penetration, of drawing blood. It’s very sexual. They lure young girls into dark alleyways. Come on. The whole concept sounds like a warning to teenage girls to beware young men that can *ahem* harm them.
As long as he plays Edward well, I don’t care if he has a six pack.
August 14th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
Wow, I read some nasty comments up there! I don’t think there’s any reason for discrimination and slurs. Just because someone talks different doesn’t mean they’re dumb, I know many intelligent people who abbreviate when they type, and who doesn’t use slang? Likewise, it really hurts me to see slurs used against gays/ lesbians.
I wish everyone could try to disagree respectfully, and try not to let others get under your skin. It’s like Thumper said, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” :)
August 14th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
Someone complained that there’s no sex- There is sex in Breaking Dawn. But it’s kind of like the sex in Gone with the Wind- another timeless love story- where Rhett just carries her up the big staircase and it cuts to the next morning where she’s all happy cuz it was good sex or w/e. I think it’s tasteful.
August 17th, 2008 at 6:44 am
Can all the haters please just, you know, go away? Seriously, if you hate it so much, why give it your time?
August 18th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
I don’t give a damn whatever the haters think about the movie/book. After all they have total freedom to say whatever they like. Go ahead. Yet l just feel sorry for the guys who have no idea what we are looking forward to on Nov. 21st.
August 24th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
I can tell alot of the people way up at the top are Harry Potter fans. I really love Twilight and I also like Harry Potter but okay here’s the thing, YOU havn’t read Twilight and telling your ignorance I don’t think you crack head’s will ever try that’s the problem.
Yes there are like 3 curse words and yes Breaking Dawn has sex BUT guess what she didn’t get all PORNO sex on us and barely descibed it so what the big deal seriously.
Because I know Harry Potter has some profanities in it and it doesn’t seem to bother the Harry Potter fans so guess what you guys are just jealous and by the way that picture does look weird but there’s a whole lot more pictures with them that look amazing!
August 24th, 2008 at 5:02 pm
To ANT:
No offense but i’ve been reading some of your comments about the book and from what I can tell all you really what is some sex in it and I mean its kind of not right because I know 11 yr olds who read it and love it, and basically what your saying is that wheather good or not it should atleast have sex, therefore exposing young children to sex at an early age.
I mean seriously you say sex is one of the most important things in a relationship and in vampire books, movies, etc. I mean it doesn’t solve anything because Stephenie is promoting sex before marriage in this book and thats something a 12 yr should know if he or she already knows about sex instead consantly thinking they can foricate all over the place when there 16 or 17. I mean a lot of kids do but if obviously your looking for true love you have to put sex aside for a while and find out if that person is really about you like they say they are, instead of waiting a month after going out to get some.
Some people like Twilight some don’t. But if you really don’t like it and think its horrible why argue with people because all you have to do is say i don’t like it thats it. If it wasn’t worth your time reading it then its not worth your time going around saying i hate it and thinking who ever likes it you should argue with. It’s really childish, I know Pro-Twilighters argue with you to but quite frankly it should be worth your time to argue back.
August 25th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
twilight is an amazing series. all you guys needa go suck a dick
August 27th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
@ TrevorR…
Yessssssss, this is a teen book. So for the easily fooled youth in the western society it’s good. Because we all have opinions, and I doubt the “youth in western society” is hardly interested in affairs that only involve detailed sex scenes and sloppy kisses. Romance? That’s called DISGUSTING. And pointless. Not that Twilight has a point, it’s just good. And for repetitive, well I don’t think sex scenes can get very different from each other. Soooo how about finding a book for your own age group? Miiiiight put you in a better mood. Instead of reading books meant for teens, where we like the repetitiveness and “lack of romance”.
And yeah I get this is a movie site meant for movie reviews, just commenting on his comment. And frankly, I’m crazy about these books and I fail to see anything good to come in this movie either.:[
August 29th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
OMFG THIS MOVIE CAN”T COME SOONER ENOUGH!
September 13th, 2008 at 1:08 pm
@Any Haters
First off if you read the book you’d know all the questions you keep asking. Trying to read the book doesn’t count. And how can you talk shit when you clearly have know idea what you are even talking about being that you haven’t read the book. And the crap that guys can’t like it unless they are gay is hilarious. I’m sorry that i’m not one of them guys who think they can’t like romantic types of movies because they’d lose their man card like some of you people but ever think of all the ladies you could get by relating to something they like, you know how many woman think that it’s sexy. Might want to think about that shit before you judge. Also take the time to read all four books and you’ll realize that it is in fact original and really well put together not to mention there is a lot of humor and you can really relate to some of the characters.
September 14th, 2008 at 1:37 pm
What the Hell, have you people even read the book, look the cover may be little weridish but that doesnt mean that the book or the moives ARE , Cuz i NOE ALL 4 BOOKS ROCKS and so will the moives SO BACK OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
September 23rd, 2008 at 6:46 pm
wow i’m pretty ashamed of some of the comenters right now it’s quite rediculous at how much you’re all willing to say because its a popular franchise. I for one have read the series many times over and think that for starters just because it dosen’t have sex as a focal point it’s not good enough for anyone’s attention. second it’s not fair to other comenters if all you can do is hate on the books they love. i’ll admit like many others have that the picture above is not the greatest, but so what it’s one picture. and leave the comenters alone when they say something you don’t like everyone is entitled to their opinion. i personally think the movie will be a huge success whether you like it or not.
October 9th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
i had not read a book in a while but as soon as i picked up the twilight book i loved it. i dont read much but i read all 4 books within 3. 1/2 weeks. i loved the book so much i went online and read the 5th one she had posted on her website.
i think the twilight series is better then harry potter. i tried reading harry potter and could not keep intrest. but the harry potter movies are amazingly done. i cant wait for the twilight movie to come out. i have even got my roommate and my friends here at college going out and buying the book to read it.
twilight the movie will be amazing im hoping. but from the previews ive seen they have already screwed up on matching the book to the movie… but i suppose they cant be exact…
well i still am going to see the movie. if its as good as harry potter than i will be happy.
and for those who are upset about compairing harry potter and twilight im sry. they are truely different books and movies… but its all fantasy so i can see how they can compair them a little…
October 29th, 2008 at 12:28 am
The Twilight series knocked me breathless! But unlike Harry Potter, I’m not looking foward as much to the movie. I’ve seen many trailers and scenes about it, but it doesn’t give you the same illusion and feeling that you get from the book. Go ahead and read the book you guys who are just waiting for the movie!
November 11th, 2008 at 12:49 am
I was dissapointed with some of the casting, I cant stand the female lead…although I cant stand the character shes portraying, so I guess that fits. I also agree the cover looks ridiculous..like something out of Rocky Horror. The film is low budget and a pretty sad looking piece of work. After seeing the trailor, my boyfriend made fun of me for even reading the books. The books were a guilty pleasure of mine, all but the last, which was absolutely a piece of crap obviously written in a rush to cash in on.
November 11th, 2008 at 7:44 am
Hmm I actually think this movie will turn out good. No matter how you dish the movie or say it doesn’t have a clear demographic whatsoever, I still think this will be good. Even if this picture does seem a little off. Do not judge the book by it’s cover, remember? :p
November 18th, 2008 at 3:43 am
Listen children, if u were all to get off ur ass get ur self into a bookstore instead of playing some stupid HD video game you would relize why this movie is huge.. its not cause some mormon writer wanted to me some kinda whore u half wit. its a genuin true love story that has no sex what so ever.. its 100% romance.. but u lil twits woudnt know anything about that. turn off the tv and get a book.. and btw.. im 24 and all of my friends, and family are all over 25
November 23rd, 2008 at 7:02 am
who the hell cares what religion stephenie is?? and twilight came to her in a dream. just cause your dream is to be jumped by a couple of whores doesnt mean hers was. stephenie is a miracle writer who has changed peoples perspective…but you wouldnt understand that cause your just a retarded asshole.
November 23rd, 2008 at 7:04 am
it is better written than harry potter. ive read both serieses and seen all the harry potter movies, and i have to say that they are both good. however, the way stephenie writes, makes twilight even better. she writes with passion, love, and emotion…something you dont really get in HP.
and the pictures?? well, theyre modelling. its when theyre payed to do.
December 28th, 2008 at 2:56 am
Yes, Stephanie said that the apple stand as the forbithen fruit (from the bible) and represents the tentation (from edward to bella´s blood) and their forbithen love (vampire with human).
