It didn't work out, but I was okay with that. To me, the doc is more about the effect the film had on fans, rather than a "making of" doc. Of course I would have loved to to hear the stories Macchio must know about the impact this film has had. I tried to get him. It didn’t work out, but I was okay with that. To me, the doc is more about the effect the film had on fans, rather than a “making of” doc. Of course I would have loved to to hear the stories Macchio must know about the impact this film has had.

But I have to say, not seeking out Ralph Macchio himself is unforgivable. Also, this film does show how removed from reality the protagonist is when faced with a fight, he is surprise that his more basic instinct takes over and he forgets everything he's learned. It just highlights what I knew all the way back in 1984, any martial art that relies heavily on katas and earning belts rarely, if ever, survive first contact in a fight situation.
