Deep Discount DVD is celebrating the release of The Dark Knight by offering up to 64% off of select Superhero titles from Warner Bros. For example you van pick up Batman Begins for $7.20, all of the original Superman movies for $7.20, Superman Returns for $5.99, V For Vendetta for $7.20, The Ultimate Matrix Collection for $30.75, and The Christopher Reeves Superman Collection for $30.75, and much more.

I love Deep Discount, and this is a great deal. Too bad I own most of these already - it makes my blood start to boil when I realize how much money I could have saved by waiting for sales like this, and the discount bin at Wal Mart.

Holy crappola. I had no idea Superman Returns' dvd sales were struggling that much. Click on through to the web site and you'll find ALL the other Warner dvds on the page listed over $7.20, except for Superman Returns which has the lowest price of any offering at 17% below the cost of even the cheapest of the rest.

And the enticement banner shows Keanu Reeves TWICE, Batman Begins (natch), Blade, Spawn, V for Vendetta, and Christopher Reeves, with Superman Returns no where to be seen. Apparently their marketers have no faith in SR to actually entice buyers. Suddenly all of the rumors swirling around the maybe sequel are making a lot more sense if this is what is also happening at other retailers.

Is this the happenstance of one retailer, and thus signifying nothing, or this the flag post of a trend signifying deep deep trouble for the sequel?
