I can't speak to how well this film will do at the box office, that is TWC's job, but Smith has shown that he has enough of a following that comes back for each and every new film. Speaking as someone who has seen some of the film... let me say that this is far FAR from a "second tier Apatow" film. The comparison stops at Seth Rogen. I can see Kevin Smith trying really hard to promote this film, but so far this is coming off as a second tier Apatow production. For Seth Rogen, this film is a pit-stop, but it can make or break Smith as a mainstream director. I just have a bad feeling that this film is going to tank hard. Which is a shame, because without Clerks, Mallrats & Chasing Amy paving the way, there is no Judd Apatow, Freaks & Geeks, or Knocked Up. I just don’t know about this film.
