Jessica Alba will NEVER make a successful movie because she's not a good actress, she's purely eye-candy and that's the only reason she is still getting work. To call her a "movie star" would be an insult to actual movie stars.

I find it hilarious that just last week Robert said:

Way to go Rodriguez. He dumps the wife who made him who he is and birthed three kids who she let him name stupid names like Rocket and Racer for Marilyn Manson's ex-girlfriend, he crapped up his clout in town and spread around a bunch of stupid silly half baked ideas like remaking Barberella, and now he's breaking up with her. I hope he gets his stuff together and goes back to making good movies.

Barbarella should not be remade! It's a piece of crap and we all know it! Now perhaps Rodriguez might have made an interesting movie using McGowan - but that's because his penis was writing, directing, etc. - now - SCRAP HEAP. Same with Red Sonja, Women in Chains, and all the other grindhouse fantasies Rodriguez hoped to resurrect.

Time for him to get back on track. Fix his marriage to the woman who supported him from when he was just another no money jerkoff filmmaker from Mehico - and secondly - make SIN CITY 2. Nuff said.

Milla Jovovich would be interesting as its her work she can at least be solid at, no matter how much you hate the Resident Evil series.

However, considering hat, a much stronger actress would be better, NOT Alba, you know, the Razzie nominated actress.

Anjelina Jolie would be awesome. She's a good actress and supposedly starring in Sin City 2, which would give fans an idea of how good she is and whether Rodriguez actually likes working with her.

I also think Charlize Theron is hot. She's good at acting and is certainly tough in movies (see Monster).

Halle Berry wouldn't be too bad either. I actually agree that Ellen Page would be good for the role. She can turn into any character and she's fantastic.

Did Rodriguez ever make a good movie? I'd say Sin City was more of Frank Miller's flick than his.

As far as a Barbarella remake... why? It's lost all relevancy and I doubt major audiences would get that movie nowadays.

BUT if I had to pick a replacement I'd go with Erica Durance because she's pretty and has something resembling a personality.

Jessica Alba as Barbarella....Alba is the least sexual actress out there, plus the role would require topless shots...and she's already played a sexless stripper in Sin City...a character that because of her profession would be topless and in the comic she was...you would think a real actress would go for that, a majority of acclaimed theater actresses have done nude for plays...lol..Now that she has a baby on the way, I don't think she'll have time to shoot the movie, and won't have time to get back into shape before principle starts....

Actresses who would be able to take over the role...off the top of my head...Eva Mendes (considering she has the body, name recognition and has worked with Robert), Jessica Biel (considering she's done action work, semi-acting skills, killer body, and will be possibly doing nude scenes in Powder Blue), Scarlett Johansson (is willing to do nude scenes if the right role came around, biggest named actress at the moment, and has a few action flicks under her belt)..

some other actresses which should be considered... I think the studio should be going with a younger actress, because how young Fonda was in the original...Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace, RockNRolla), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Death Proof, Live Fire or Die Hard) and possibly Christina Ricci....

Rose Mcgowan is probably so good in bed... I'd be done in ten seconds. Where's my copy of Planet Terror.. aha, there it is. The opening credits are all i'll be needing! hA !!

I'd be down with a Red Sonja remake...but leave Barbarella as is.

Honestly, I think Alyssa Milano, she's talented, would look hot in the lack of an outfit, and resembles Jane Fonda to an extent. Plus, she already has the fan following in the fantasy genre. Always Megan Fox too...just because she's hot.

I <3 Rose. You can keep throwing names out there, but when it comes down to it, McGowan is the onlt one with the sex appeal and attitude that the character requires.

Do we really need a Barbarella remake? It really stands on its own, now the idea of a Red Sonja remake is appealing as that one with the she beast Brigitte Nielson is a real tragedy and needs an update in the worst way.

I've never seen Barberella. I'm 32. Is it worth my time? I thought "Once Upon a Time in..." was the worst movie ever made. I walked out of the theater. I never do that. I loved "Desperado" and the prequel to that that he made with no budget.
Planet Terror was ok, and my kids love that Spy Kid crap.
McGowen is cool. I like her and I'd bang the crap out of her while my wife watches, but she is so wrong for Red Sonja.

I'm glad they've split. Part of Rodriguez's charm was the fact that he was a strong family man. Remember "Rebel Without a Crew" how he slept in his office on the lot and mailed his per diem back to Austin? That's the Rodriguez I can respect.
