Fox Searchlight has released a few new photos from Clark Gregg’s big screen adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s Choke. I’ve seen the movie twice now, and I’m pretty sure the photo above comes from a scene which was not included in film festival cut of the movie. Clark Gregg filmed Palahniuk’s original ending to the book, but the scene didn’t play as expected, and it was cut from the final film. Could this mean that the original ending has been reinserted into the film? Or is the photo above from another moment in the film which I might be completely forgetting?

I hope the book ending is the one they go with when they release it.

Bill,
I hope so. I’m still wondering about one other major scene, and if it’s going to be in the film.

I saw the film at the LA premiere. The top photo covers a moment I expected to be in the movie, but it was not. Slightly disappointed. During the Q&A after the film, I sensed that Clark Gregg was unsure of how he has the movie wrapping in its current incarnation.
I enjoyed the movie as a whole, but, personally, the ending felt rushed … would love to see it with the moment featured above inserted into the cut. Maybe it works and adds that little extra the ending needs … or maybe it looks not as grand as imagined in the book because of the film’s low budget, while also creating that sense of multi-endings like Gregg appeared to be saying at the showing in LA.
I’m curious to see if the version seen last week goes through any significant tweaks by September.

Peter,
Why the extra hurdle for the pictures to open up in their native resolution? You’re messing with me aren’t you?

I read the script for the movie and I don’t think the new ending is terrible, but I’d love it if they used the original ending from the book.

Captain,
I think I’m wondering about the same scene, and it’s pretty pivotal to the main character’s resolution. I’d say based on the promo materials that went out, that scene might be in there. Unless you’re thinking of a different scene?
Man, it’s hard to talk about something without talking about it. You posters that complain about spoilage should give the site a break because it’s really hard to provide info while keeping secrets.

Well the top picture is part of a big plot line from the book… I can’t imagine what they’ve done to the film if it was cut :\
