At the conclusion of the film’s opening weekend, over 5,300 IMDb users have rated Pixar’s WALL-E, resulting in a 9.3 average user rating. This currently places the film at #9 on IMDb’s top 250 movies of all time, behind only Godfather 1 and 2, Shawshank Redemption, Good Bad and Ugly, Pulp Fiction, Schindlers List, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Empire Strikes Back. But with only 5,000 votes, the movie will likely drop on the list as more votes are counted. But the question is how far? The high placement is worth noting because it rarely happens. And when it does, the movie usually lands a fairly high placement.
Meanwhile, on Rotten Tomatoes, WALL-E has a 97% fresh rating with almost 150 reviews. This puts the film at #13 of all time for movies with 100 or more reviews.

This film hasnt opened in the UK and across the world and this rating is off 5,300 which is a small majority of the people who has seen the film and people who have gone to screenings.
This will stay in the chart but either gone back up a few spaces or stay the same.
Give it unitl the end of the july, around there and then see what the results look like.

Just saw it last night, and the hype is no hype. The film is UNBELIEVABLY well-constructed, from every moment. 75% of the film has no dialogue, and when the dialogue finally shows it, it feels unnecessary.
It’s a great film, for all ages, chock full of funny moments and a lot of tenderness.
10+.

With IMDB you need to factor in the rabid Godfather voters, who spend all day creating new profiles to vote Godfather at 10, and then vote everything else as one. Protecting their turf.
They are like Collingwood supporters really, and if you understand that, then you’ll know there is no changing them.
Also, There Will Be Food was really high at the start and now where is it: round 50 or so?

One of the top 10 animated films of all time (top 3), but I wouldn’t put it in top 10 of all films. It is very good, though. I wouldn’t have a problem ranking it top… 100? Definitely top 150 material, which is far from anything to sneeze at.

Gimme a break. IMDb’s ratings are a joke. I’m sure WALL-E is great, but let’s get realistic here. People who love the other movies in the top 10 will give WALL-E 1’s just to get it down the list, and others will give it a 10 whether or not they actually think it’s a perfect movie. It’s pathetic and it happens all the time. IMDb sucks with accuracy, they suck with ratings, and their message boards are a black hole of idiocy.

A113 is too much like HAL for WALL-E to be considered as one of the greatest of all time. And for its usage of Also sprach Zarathustra for a gimmick comedy scene.
If they got rid of that scene and A113 was more original, then we can talk.

Yeah, I don’t really trust IMDB’s rating system. I think Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic are far more accurate.

Jon: Like it or not, IMDB is the largest non movie critic movie rating system out there. Its unfair to compare it to RT and metacritic as those are based soley on movie critic reviews and not regular movie goers. And on that note, its worth mentioning that WALL-E currently has a 97% rating on RT, which makes it the 13th highest reviewed film of all time with over 100 reviews. And not that i disagree with RT, but I don’t understand how you can find their rating system to be better. They basically opperate under a thumbs up or thumbs down vote. A movie theoretically could have 100% fresh rating even if all the movie critics only gave it a 7/10. At least IMDB is an average based on a ten point scale.

I don’t trust numbers.

IMDB ratings are not good, I go there for information. This was a superb movie, I am going to see it again today. I heard more adults laughing than kids. But this old guy when he left the theater said “you must have a boring life to like the movie” I don’t know what came over me, but I told him “go fuck yourself, prick”

How can you vote something Greatest of All Time, when All Time hasn’t finished yet?
June 30th, 2008 at 10:55 am
If you want to see an animated masterpiece, check out Princess Mononoke. That’s definitely in my top 10 movies.

Much like movies, Top 10 lists are also subjective.
Gimme a break…….. Sure isn’t I’m my Top 10.
I swear some of this wall-e love is over the top.

anyone who knows anything about film/movies/pictures, knows the imdb list is bullshit. i, for one, shall heap unrespect on it until a cassavetes film shows up, at least one.

First of all: hello! I’ve googled “wall e 9 imdb” ’cause i was amazed by the 9th place on imdb.com…i’m from Romania, the movie will be here on September :( and i don’t no nothing about the film but the place is too high (of course) but someone here said that the movie is with only a little bit of dialogue…and i think that this thing (not having a lot of dialogue) is great for movies…i mean, if you can describe the story only by images, i think that this makes a great movie…can’t wait to see it! P.S. My big joy is that TDK will be here in Romania only after a week after the premiere in US…can’t wait to see the joker “at work” too!

I saw it last night in SF with some friends. I really liked the movie over all. I loved the first 20mins or so of the Wall-e/Eva interaction but as the movie progressed I felt like there were 2 different stories going on.
I really didn’t care for the live action either. That was a huge miss step for Stanton. I understand Pixar was trying to connect the audience more to the OVERLY PREACHY green peace and FAT AMERICAN (poorly designed) soapbox message but give me a break! Pixar should be really careful how political and ‘left-wingish’ they get because it could really come back to haunt them.
The character work for Wall-e and Eva was wonderful but the cockroach had more development then all the rest of supporting cast combined! The Auto Pilot villain seemed to be an after thought… I didn’t even have time to hate him or feeling anything when the captain shut him down. The whole situation between the Auto Pilot, the captain and the ‘human race’ was waaay under developed and lacked feeling and pathos. I really didn’t care about them at all. That’s why there’s such a division in the story. Wall-e’s story of his pursuit and love for Eva dwarfs the whole human story. Well, I could go on and on here… Wall-e is about as good as Cars for me but falls exceedingly short of the story quality of Monsters and Incredibles.
1) I liked it and it’s worth seeing in the theater
2) Story falls short of Pixar’s potential due to the Green Peace Soapbox **BANG THE AUDIENCE OVER THE HEAD** message.
3) Mixed live action and CG didn’t work for me
4) I loved Capobianco’s end credit sequence

Steve: I don’t even think is that good to trust with information. Maybe if you want to look up a cast member or something, but like Wikipedia, anyone can update IMDb if they have an IMDb account.
And I kind of think it was the point the computer in WALL-E was supposed to be similar to HAL. The film does reference quite a few sci-fi flicks if you look closely.

AMAZING ASS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Def a top 10.
Classic awesome message.
And for those haters — you’re either fat like the characters in the movie.. or you just hate the environment and should save the planet and kill yourself :)
do it!

Unbelievable movie.
Best animation of all time. Probably top 25 movie of all time.
June 30th, 2008 at 5:41 pm
Wow that’s impressive.

I honestly agree. I racked my brain after leaving the theater, and could not think of a single movie I’ve seen that beat it.
The little things were what pushed it up for me. The opening scene set to Put On Your Sunday Clothes, the incredible detail, the “Define Dancing” scene (which is one of my favorite cinematic moments ever), and even the credits, all add up to make this my favorite.
In b4 backlash. Remember, some people abide that Shrek 3 was the best movie ever.
June 30th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
HA! Now its sixth go suck a fat one haters!
June 30th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
I loved this film just as much as I love Toy Story, which is in my top ten for animated films (and believe me, I’ve seen all the Pixar films, just about all the Disney classics, etc.). I do agree that after Wall-E and EVE arrived on the Axiom, the story lost a bit of its charm, but regained it around the “Define Dancing” scene. The film was surprisingly dark, which I was happy about. Wall-E is an instant classic, up there with the rest of the Pixar films and old Disney classics like Snow White.
