Universal has released a third and final movie trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army. Like the recent television spot, the new trailer starts off with the origin story from the first film, before showing off all the cool creatues and baddies in the new film. They have also released the animated prologue which opens the film on Apple.com. As always, tell me what you think in the comments below!
Watch the trailer in High Definition on Apple. Hellboy II: The Golden Army hits theaters on July 11th 2008.

Since they’re clearly putting the stuff from the first film in the trailers for the second film because so few people saw the first film… they should just merge the two movies and trick people into watching both.
By the way, this keeps looking better and better. The effect shots from the first trailer to this one have improved twentyfold.

Better, faster, stronger, louder!

Yeah… the devil’s son is a super hero…Hmmm?
I don’t think so.
This is a sad day and age.

God damn, this movie looks so badass. This is the only colored hero I care about this summer. Guillermo Del Toro is a master of his craft and he only improves on it more and more.
TheWobbie, he’s not the son of the Devil.

uhhuh…yeah, come with me. This is going to be good.

Looks sensational! Let’s just hope that all the hype surrounding TDK doesn’t lead to this being overshadowed.

I’m not sure about the V.O in the trailer, but the film looks like a ton of fun.
Oh and I think “TheWobbie” might be my nanna’s handle, so I have to apologize for her.

This film needs to be reviewed asap or its not going to do well financially.

WHat they should do is push this movie back 3 weeks because of TDK. I really want to see this film but i have a feeling it wont make much money because of TDK. I could be wrong :(

REAL6,
The first film did really well in the box office. Especially overseas. I think GDT and Co. Know that if people want to see TDK, they will definitely have enough room to want to watch HB2.
HB2 will do much better than the first film I think.

Looking better than ever.

The Wobbie didn’t even see the first one. You know, where you find out how Hellboy isn’t the fucking devils son, but a demon accidentally placed in our realm and forsakes his old, evil ways. Even breaks off his horns that grow back later in the movie. The dude is Catholic. lol

Pearlman absolutely owns that role. I can’t imagine anyone else even trying. It’s sort of strange that , minus Alien4, I can’t even think of anything else he’s been in this decade. Am I forgetting something?
Whomever is responsible for the cinematography with GdT, really does some amazing stuff here - looks similar to Pan’s. The shadows and light are becoming identifiable as “del Toro’s.”
The Golden Army is super cool - looks like steampunk robots. Is this right? HB2 is looking like a great time. I loved the quirk and style of the first film. Again, without Pearlman, they would be lost.

I’m really looking forward to this. I enjoyed the first Hellboy, but this one looks even better.

gocitizen: Ron Perlman has been in almost every movie made in the last 10 years. Or it seems that way. He had a roll in City of Lost Children, Enemy at the Gates, Blade 2, Titan AE, Dungeon Siege and about 15 or 20 video games or other voice acting roles. The man certainly gets around.
On Hellboy 2. I think I need a new pair of pants. It will be tough to top the original, but this might do it. And I disagree with TDK taking the wind from this movie’s sails(to use a pun, Sales). Both movies will make buckets of cash.

Can’t wait! Should be fun! I loved the first one, can’t wait to see how DelToro has improved upon the first. I read in Geek magazine (who interviewed DelToro) and he said that he used as little cgi as possible. Which I think is awesome, real stunts and monsters sounds like a good thing to me! Hoorah!

goCitizen:
Guillermo Navarro, who is another famous “Guillermo” did all the cinematography for this film and other GDT movies, including Pan’s Labyrinth. He really is one of my favorites. He’s worked, a lot, with Quentin Tarantino as well.

I am super excited for this movie. I absolutely loved the first one and I’m looking forward to seeing them top the badassery that was Kroenen (who remains one of my favorite comic book movie villains) in this one. I really hope that they amp up the marketing campaign for this movie so that more people know about it and it can get the love it deserves.

Thanks for the info on Pearlman and Navarro.
My trip to IMDB reminds me now that he won the Oscar for Pan’s Labyrinth. Makes me want to revisit some of the films he’s worked on.
I wonder who Tarantino will get for Inglorious Bastards. Went with Robert Richardson for the Bills and himself for Death Proof. It might be something worth keeping an eye on.
