Yesterday producers Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari and Bernie Goldmann revealed to Collider that they had landed director Tarsem Singh (The Fall, The Cell) to helm War of Gods, a new Greek mythology epic which will be filmed like 300.
Relativity Media paid mid-six against seven figures for the script by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides. The official logline follows: “A purported bastard who retains an allegiance to his mother despite the fact that he longs to join the quest of a king who is battling demons in ancient Greece later embarks on a grail of discovery that has him finding he is the king’s son and also fated to become his country’s greatest hero as he leads the successful war against long-imprisoned Titans who are hoping to use the demons to restore their power.”
Warner Bros even toyed around with the idea of buying the Gods script (which is believed to be further developed) for their epic-style green screen remake of Clash of the Titans. The studio announced tonight that The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier has been hired to helm the Lawrence Kasdan-scripted remake. And now both studios are racing into production to be the first to the silver screen. War of Gods is scheduled to begin production by year’s end, and Titans was only greenlit after landing Leterrier.

Meh, 300 is a film in its own and i dont think that filming in the same style.
This story sounds average but i have to wait and see some more nwes about it.

Tarsem Singh sucks.
I’m a huge fan of the original. But hearing about Stephen Norrington dropping out of the remake is dissapointing. Hulk-dude can go suck it.
I knew the copycats were going to come out of the woodwork after 300 came out. I said that after seeing the film the first time. Much like bullet-time in The Matrix. Talk about two projects filled with mediocre talent. They just hand these great projects off to anyone these days.

AWSOMENESS thy name is Clash of the Titans!
Holy Hell, this is fantastic news.

These are genuinely surprising and exciting announcements.
I don’t think Tarsem hasn’t made a good film yet, but his visual style is awe inspiring - reminds me of Jodorowsky, only with a decent SFX budget. Like so many talented, visual directors he really just needs an equally talented scriptwriter to make a truly special film.
Louis Leterrier is a taut film maker with tons of potential, so it’ll be interesting to see what he comes up with on such a big project.
Anyway, good stuff.

The Fall was simply amazing, The Cell sucked, but looked cool…
I think he could do well with this

Singh is a a visionary director who has taken some bad projects in the past so hopefully he gets to realize his full potential here.

I say bring on the sword and sandal movies!
Though I’m little nervous about the remake of Clash of the Titans,
which is a childhood favorite and I still enjoy popping it in from
time to time.

Singh just rips off other visual artists, well. Take a few art history classes and you’ll see where most of his “vision” comes from. Other people. Especially The Cell.

I’m a huge fan of Greek mythology…loved the original “Clash of The Titans” I was expecting Robert Rodriguez to helm the remake….I think both movies have potential to be great, but at the moment Tarsem Singh has impressed me more with the Cell and the Fall. Considering the producing team from 300 is on board War of Gods as well. Louis Leterrier is going to have to prove himself yet again, it’s unfair but also it’s not a comic book movie or transporter flick.

Tarsem Singh? Ahhh man, its gonna be one of those weird 2 hour music videos that completely doesn’t make any sense.

Um, Robert - who doesn’t? Art isn’t created in a vacuum.

They’re just wasting our time, until someone makes the atom bomb of swords and sandals, and does a goddamn remake of Jason and the Argonauts.
