It's a sad commentary on originality (and Pixar} that the Wall-E characters were lifted from the Movie "Short Circuit" by John Badham. Even a white girl robot is encountered by Johnny 5 (#5) in S.C. While it seems common these days to remake older films, I wonder if any tribute is given to Short Circuit in Wall-E's credits.

How come only 9.5/10 and not a perfect score?

btw, those two going at it come oscar time would divide the internet boards like never before!

and i do realize harvey two face & the coin flipping would match up with sigurth's similar practice. but the joker & sigurth are both the 'jaws' of their films, and i bet we're all gonna be calling for heath's statue come awards season.

how cool would it be for us geeks if wall-e and the dark knight went head to head this year for best pic? it'd kinda be the fantasy flipside to last years very 'realistic' head to head betweeen twbb & ncfom.

(side topic: does that make wall-e plainview and joker sigurth? :)

hey, Peter-
nice review, and I couldn't agree with you more about the decision making differences between Pixar and Dreamworks.
It must feel good to believe in a film (and feature it on the site) when that film proves to come through in every way.

Just want to add to your praise of the music and score - the Peter Gabriel song makes for a fine coda. I think it could be argued that they should have returned to something from Hello Dolly or similar, but the Gabriel song definitely leaves an optimism in the future. Best song I've heard out of him in some time.

I can not wait to see Wall-E, I was a little put off with the constant coverage but it actually makes me want to come back and say what I thought of it.

If so, how was it?
