Producer Frank Marshall revealed to IESB plans to begin shooting a fourth Jason Bourne movie next Summer, for release in 2010. Universal announced the project back in February, with director Paul Greengrass and star Matt Damon set to return. Marshall also confirmed that they will probably be creating an original story for the fourth film, since author/creator Robert Ludlum wasn’t involved in the later books in the series.
“There was a fourth book written, but it was not by Mr. Ludlum. So we’re probably going to take our own direction and we’re working on what that storyline’s gonna be right now.”
And where will this new adventure bring us? Marshall is predicting that Bourne will journey to “South America.” Watch the full interview on IESB.

This is AWESOME, i love Bourne and another movie with Matt Damon would be a wet dream!!

Cool. That’s good news.

The only thing the movies share with the books are the titles. So what would it even matter if Ludlum had anything to do with the 4th book?

taking the film to south america is a great move. many of the cities in south america is so gritty, it’ll bring so much character to the film.
June 25th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
South America? Is he following James Bond to the Chilean desert?
June 25th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
/\ ACTUALLY, I think he’s looking for crystal skulls…

Bourne Identity 4: The Bourne redundancy

PG & MD make a great film together, but in order to keep this series at the top of its game there’s gotta be something really fresh to this fourth film. i think we’ve gotten all we can - on fil - outta Bourne vs the CIA/FBI etc. i do root for the poor guy, as he’s always losing people around him, kinda like a badass harry potter…

HA. “we’re probably going to take our own direction”. They took their own direction with every movie. the books have an amazing storyline and they completely skipped out on it. I love the bourne movies, but the books just flat out have better stories. Carlos!
Antibodies is right.
Also, Frank Marshall must not do research because the rumor is that Ludlum wrote over half (more like 80%) of the 4th book before he died. The other author came in to finish it.

it would be nice if they finally gave the character an actual mission instead of this horrible cat and mouse concept that’s getting really dull…same bad guys ect…
June 25th, 2008 at 9:40 pm
Maybe he’ll be in Brasil around the same time Banner was there…I thought I saw him in the background when the Hulk ran by…and I’m totally kidding.
The good thing is that they didn’t wait too long to go with this regardless of how it turns out. I would’ve hated to see another Bourne a decade or two later and they have to cut back on the action b/c he was too old.
June 25th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
@ The Dude nice to know there are Daily Show fans out there.
I don’t think they should make the movie if there going to continue in the vein of the last two, i.e. being basically a giant chase with a slightly uninteresting plot.
I could see if they actually had a good story to measure up to the first one. But you would then have make Bourne’s character evolve and not have him stay almost the same the whole movie as in the last two.
It would also help if you would haven Liman come back or only bring back Greengrass to help with certain action sequences. If Greengrass is to direct the whole thing at least give him clonazepam, so it doesn’t seem like he’s spasming out every 5 seconds

Frank Marshall means “Indiana Jones 4 South America” meaning they’re going to use computer generated backgrounds throughout.
“whenever necessary” my ass.
They should stop with #3. The Bourne Trilogy was great the way it ended.
June 26th, 2008 at 12:28 am
Loved the first film than the other 2. But the third one was good, just wished it had more hand-to-hand combat. Like the rooftop/shower scene.
2 sucked most of all. Enough with the shakey-cam shit.

the only big thing on my mind right now is: IS GILROY COMING BACK TOO?

Captain America ftw

I’m thinking Pam Landy is kidnapped and tortured and/or Nicky Parsons takes a bullet. Either way, I wouldn’t piss off David Webb.
Hard to do a 4th film. So few are good. You either have to set it up as a Bond type franchise or kill it off in a good way. You know they aren’t going to kill it off, so how can they set up a reluctant hero to stay in the game for more than one?

Damon will have to get back into shape following his current incarnation.
Definitely not f**king Matt Damon!

Just as long as they bring Julia Stiles back!
There were some hints of a deeper relationship in Bourne Ultimatum. I want to know what that’s all about.

for real
the movies are fun and all but they arent anything at all like the books lol
June 30th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
I feel compelled to point out that they’ve been taking the series in their own direction since the 2nd movie whos only resemblance to the book was that the main characters name is Jason Bourne
July 5th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
Does anyone know whether or not Julia Stiles will be in the next movie? I hope she will…Matt Damon and Julia Stiles are the only two people who have been in all 3 movies thus far…I hoe the movie gives us more insight about their relationship. I wouldn’t mind it one bit if they were lovers…Waiting for the 4th movie
