The latest issue of WiReD Magazine has an article on The Dark Knight. The article mainly deals with the technical side of things such as CG and IMAX projection, but RopesofSilicon directed me to this one shiny quote:
The director wasn’t interested in plumbing the murky origins of the Joker himself - the Clown Prince is more a Loki-like force of chaos. “He’s like the shark in Jaws,” Nolan explains. “The Joker cuts through the film, he’s incredibly important, but he’s not a guy with a backstory. He’s a wild card.”
The Joker is like the shark in Jaws? Nolan sure knows all the right things to say to get us excited.

I am looking forward to this film with great anticipation, but with an undertone of sadness. I have a gut feeling, from seeing the pictres, and film clips that Heath Ledger is going to save his finest performance for his last.

Agreed. It’s going to be magnificent and tragic at the same time.

I CANNOT WAIT!

i love that comparison, like its time to be scared when you know he’s coming for ya! goddamit all the comcast stuff + the 4 new tv spots have been getting me sooooooooooooo juiced!
though it makes me sad for his family & freinds & fans at the same time. i can only imagine in the next sequel if they had a scene towards the end in arkham where his case worker dr. quinzell introduces herself & he hella flirts with her.

Is that Peter behind the bars in the back?

@ Quenfis.
Sure. And the other guy on the left side is Hunter. d;^P

I love that comparison. This is one of the reasons why I love Nolan as a director and writer. He puts a lot of weight and filling into concepts that most people would gloss over.
My boner for this film has gone around the world and poked me in the ass already.

This is old news. He’s said this before in old interviews. Still exciting and an interesting quote, but very old.

Heath put so much time, thought, and effort into this role. He played the Joker as dark and as insane as the dark comics have intended him to be. Truly anticipating it

On one hand, I’m sad they are not going into the Joker’s origins, which could have borrowed elements from Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke. On the other hand, I’m happy a superhero movie doesn’t force us to watch the origin, which can be tedious.

You know its sad that in this film, Norton uses more practical effects than Speilberg in Indy 4. Wow.
