After thinking about it, I think the answer is pretty easy. The spaghetti western stuff mixed with various lifts from old WW2/Western films.
Kelly’s Heroes(Burning Bridges), The Great Escape, The Magnificent Seven, etc.

I don’t doubt that he could find some pretty unique/quirky stuff from the 30s-40s time period as well. It might be a nice juxt to have a machine gun fight underscored by some big band stuff.

WW2 by Tarantino has great potential to be really good.

How bout Stan Ridgeway. (Wall of Voodoo?) Shesh QT could even hire him to score the film.

Killing Joke and PiL in Inglorious Bastards?!? Wow, I’d love to see QT’s war movie while seated in your head. Good taste in tunes.

I highly doubt QT would ever use the Rolling Stones for this or anything. He seemingly wants to avoid cliches. I’m envisioning music like Canned Heat, Johnny Cash, old blues and maybe some AC/DC. Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if QT had this film(s) scored by one of his idols. The setting is ripe for it.

Yeah Captain but don’t you think he uses a lot of 70’s music?
He and Mike Myers have the same taste in decades.

Not saying his taste in music is crap, as I have no prob with that. But now that Gocitizen brought this up I’m curious as to what he will use.

Tarantino is really great with his soundtracks. If he uses any specific music. He usually picks really great obscure work. And usually strays away from most mainstream stuff.

That’s where it gets tricky. 50 ’s music might work if he picks the right stuff.
But it would be boring.
If he uses 60’s, or 70’s music it will seem like a Vietnam movie. If I hear one more fricken Rolling Stones song I’m gonna scream. That’s one thing I really hate about Scorsese films.

Maybe he should consider a electronic orchestral sound , and use some cool rock tracks from the 90’s maybe some Killing Joke or P.I.L. ???

My guess is more modern characters in WW2…er…something. I actually have no idea what he means. QT - WTF? Reservoir Dogs go to war.

Also I’m not sure what I’m picture but Kill Bill displayed the design I think he’s talking about. It was a mix of old with new. But with a modern twist in terms of dialogue and themes.

For now I’ll just let the excitement tire me out until I read the next piece of news about IB.

I, for one, am skeptical of Tarantino’s ability these days. Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and Reservoir Dogs are among my favorites, and Kill Bill was fun; Kill Bill 2 was over-indulgent and slow; I haven’t gotten around to seeing Grindhouse. Y’know, with his success it’s like he’s a kid in a candy store with Hollywood-sized budgets, and he’s fulfilling his film fantasies at the expense of compelling narratives.

Of course I’ll watch it anyway.
