FilmSchoolRejects has gotten their hands on a concept photo of Thomas Jane as Jonah Hex in Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor’s announced adaptation of the DC comic book. And while both this photo and Jane’s casting have not been officially (or even unofficially) confirmed, it seemed too juicy not to pass along. I wasn’t a big fan of Jane’s Punisher (or any of the big screen Punishers for that matter — so it’s likely not his fault) but I think this role could really suit him.
Created by writer John Albano and artist Tony DeZuniga, Jonah Hex is a former Confederate officer turned gun-slinging bounty hunter anti-hero whose face was horrifically scarred on his right side. The comic book, which was introduced in the 1970’s, and Neveldine/Taylor have said that they don’t plan on “making a straight-ahead Western but plan to develop the character with some of the supernatural overtones in the hopes of creating a franchise.”
Discuss: What do you think? Would Thomas Jane make a good Jonah Hex?

I think he would make a good Hex. I just hope it fits the material and the character unlike Constantine. Which would have been fine if they didn’t name it, “Constantine”.

I remember this character from the Adventures of Batman and Robin cartoon. It was one of the best episodes.

I’ve heard of them making a Jonah Hex movie for years and not believing it since it has seemingly never got off the ground. But this is a good sign at least and if they do base it off the whole Jonah Hex Vertigo series that would be cool. Anything but “Hex”.

HMMM, looks okay but the hat and coat are the wrong color it’s supposed to be grey of course the photo is dark and I suppose Nathen Fillion of farscape would make a better Jonah Hex at least his hair would be the right color . plus they need to figure how to make the eye a little bigger.
Being a long time fan of Jonah I’m excited about the movie I’m glad to hear hear that they dropped the supernatural stuff .
Haave read the script review and it’s gonna be a bad ass film .

You mean Nathan Fillion of Firefly. And that wouldn’t be a bad choice either but Jane is a badass nonetheless.

-love jane, love fillion too - so either would be cool.
- i’ve always thought a western with ’supernatural’ overtones would make an awesome franchise, and the hex story fits. though i also thought The Lone Ranger could go that way too. (hey why not both, i’m a western nut!
-it’d be smart to do it the way POTC took a real life rugged lifestyle and added the mystical/unreal/magical oh hell - supernatural stuff.
-in neveldine/taylor’s hands, i’d trust this to be cool as hell, but i hope it wouldn’t stray too far away from that ‘western’ feel, with all the hyper-realism stuff they do. but i’m sure they’ll find a happy compromise, they are quite talented.
-JUST NO 3-D WESTERN BULLSHIT, PLEASE!!!!

oops! now why did I confuse that up. Thinking firefly but typed farscape, my apologies Fillion and the fans of Firefly.
