Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese\'s Ashecliffe

The Boston Herald has a first look at Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s Ashecliffe. The big screen adaptation of Dennis Lehane’s 2003 novel Shutter Island, which tells the story of a U.S. Marshal (DiCaprio) who travels to Shutter Island, a small island in Massachusetts’ Outer Harbor, home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, to find an escaped murderous patient in the Summer of 1954. The above photo shows DiCaprio running around with a rifle behind an electrified fence near the lighthouse on Nahant’s East Point.

Hm, sounds very interesting. Hope to see more.
  • Joker
Awesome, but I prefer the title Shutter Island.

This pic really gives us an idea not only the scope of the film, but also gives us a glimpse of how good DiCaprio's performance is.

    I'm a head over to IMDB.com and give it a 9/10.

    what a fantastic book!

He looks pretty built in that pic. Maybe he really could pull of Captain America....

    @ Log1c

I was just thinking the same thing. It looks like he's beefed up for this role. Ahh, the possibilities.

How depressing, that Scorsese is doing this. I've read the book & the twist ending was the most far-fetched ridiculous thing put to paper. Very Shyamalanesque & not in a good way. As for working yet again with that numnuts prettyboy, he has been the kiss of creative death to Scorsese (excepting The Departed in bits). I guess Casino was his last complete movie for me.

Not to get in a beef with Jezzus but how does a still of DiCaprio holding a gun tell us how good his performance is?
  • Tom
@STAX: I think maybe the Jezzus was kidding. Like pointing out that this is barely any kind of news about the film.

@Log1c: it just might work, if he's as beefed up as he looks in that photo. I thought he was always a skinny kid, so I couldn't imagine him as Captain America.
  • Lee
Just saw The Departed for the first time, and was totally blown away by DiCaprio's performance. So I would be pretty excited to see this movie. Sounds like a good flick.
  • STAXOWAX
Hmmmmm.......Irony! Apologies to Jezzus in that case.
  • Jmoney
Staxowax, what are you talking about? Gangs of New York, and then the Departed were the two movies that finally made me respect DiCaprio's acting ability.
  • Aaron
    Yup he's Captain America.
  • Sara
Leo is fantastic. I've watched him act since Growing Pains and obviously some of you haven't seen Total Eclipse or the Basketball Diaries. He's a magnificient actor and always has been. I cannot wait to see his latest work. He may be a pretty boy but the guy has talent.

Martin Scorsese Sucks...and Leonardo DiCaprio is the definition of a bad actor
  • theohuxtable
i have heard that the script is amazing
  • Julio
Yeah, he looks built in that picture, almost like Matt Damon in the Bourne movies, but then in the other pictures he seems without muscle.
  • katie
