They have reshoots and they move it up a day earlier? Are they nuts?
  • Captain Awesome

A big no thanks to films starring Scientologists like Will Smith. I don't want to help fund a cult.
  • Captain Awesome
    DP,

But you've been funding Christian, Jewish and other cults for years. Why stop now? The only church you're really funding is the almighty dollar and feeding the belly belonging to the God known as "Hollywood".

I agree that all religions are cults, but Scientology has only been around for 50 years. It is much easier to fight and get rid of.

    We have to start somewhere.
  • I totally get to see this one in the next week or so, not that I really want to.
  • Jojo
Actually this will do $100+ million on that weekend. The tracking is extremely high.
  • 790
This film is going to break 100mil by the 3rd weekend. Won't be a bomb by any means.
    Reshoots are done.

Also, according to my research, Its looking like Obama is backed by Scientology....

    Were doomed..........
  • REAL6
    Hahahah@ 100m in 3 weeks. Try 100m in 3 days ;)
  • T-MACK
"Also, according to my research, Its looking like Obama is backed by Scientology…."

This is a film forum, not a place to demmonstrate your unfounded paranoia.
  • Moving this up a day shows alot of courage on the part of the studio. It's a Will Smith movie so it should do well opening weekend but whether it has the legs will have to be seen. The buzz on this, from test screenings, hasn't been all that great but the reshoots might just help salvage it (remember I Am Legend?).

Will audiences really accept its rather dark & apparently violent tone when the movie is being sold more of the same ol, same ol Will Smith comedy/action vehicle?
  • Neil
so will this count as a 6-day weekend?!

wth? i don't think thats fair as far as box offices records...not that it would make as much as TDK but smith "owns july 4th weekend" and thats just a cheap shot to gain numbers @ the box...pshhh

    MOVIE OF THE SUMMER!

Under Dark Knight of course, but this movie will be fantastic. Screw you who won't see it due to his religious beliefs. Smith has made 1..maybe 2 bad movies in his life. What good movies have you people made?
  • edward
smith's made a lot of bad films, hehe ;)
  • 790
I was only making a statement it wasn't the entire point T-back.

Hey T-Mack, when you see (790) just skip over my posts. // enjoy your globalist canadate , don't do any research and enjoy Hancock. Alot of people do........... Lol.

    Rock on! T-1000.
  • Captain Awesome
"What good movies have you people made?"

    lol, comeback of the week.
  • gocitizen
I really dislike the "will smithing" of any sci-fi movie he's attached to, but for some reason, I want to see this. From what I've seen, the film carries a welcome take on the genre. If people like me are willing to show up for a Will Smith movie, this one will be big.

If you are going to take some sort of weird religious stand on which films you will or will not go to, perhaps you better dig a little deeper than the actors appearing in films, which strikes me as a pretty naive position to take. It reminds me of the PETA supporters wearing leather pants and such. No personal stand here one way or another, but if you are going to take a stand against something you'd do well to do it right. i.e. - Do you know the religious affiliations of the producers of The Dark Knight?
  • Captain Awesome
Yes, Nolan is a known Gothamist.
  • TheDaftPunk
How about this: This movie looks mediocre, AND Will Smith is a scientologist. Happy?
  • 790
I think one thing that might hurt the film is toward the end when he dons the X-Men outfit and fights the villian of the week.

Other than that, the begining parts of the film look great.
  • Jerry of the Hub City Butlers
This movie looks like it is going to be terrible.

of noteworthy crappiness, cgi looks really subpar.

I doubt it will do well. Gas is expensive right now. In a summer of iron man, hulk, x-files, Hell boy, Batman, someone's gotta be left off the list to make rent. This movie pretty much nominates itself.
  • gocitizen
Gothamy is a kick ass religion. For it or not, you have to admit they build some nice churches.
  • 790
I've heard that as well Cap Awesome.
  • Captain Awesome
The good and bad about Gothamy is that you have beautiful gothic architecture but have to pay Batman a weekly fee not to kick your ass.

    He really hates chocolate :I
  • 790
My scientology friends think Gothamy is a cult.........

    But I think their jelous....
  • Donkey Punch
Will Smith gave his entire crew a free Scientology personality test as a wrap gift on Hancock. Not only is he insane for falling for this cult but he is a cheap bugger for giving out gifts that cost him nothing.

He recently also donated a million bucks to help build a Scientology school.

Recently on Ellen he kept saying that he likes to "study" and that he is always "studying". That phrase would be fine for a student but anyone who knows basic information about Scientology knows it is one of their many buzz phrases.
  • 790
Ghessh he's recruiting for them now.

"Studying" means he's on his way to becomming "Clear". That's what scientologists struggle and pay lots of money to become. (Retards).

    My advice
12 bucks will buy you a twelve pack.
  • 790
    Donkey Punch, you watch Ellen?

    Ok, Ok,
    That's cool..................
  • 790
Nothing to see here T-Sack. Move along, move along.

Seriously Donkey Punch, Scientologists use that kind of "personality" test as a way to tell how people feel about the cult, ehmm church I mean. Sounds like Smith is seeing who's on his side. People on the crew that openly get offended by the test won't be on his next shoot.

Tom Cruise keeps a very tight crew when he produces a film. If anyone speaks ill of the guy hes fired very quiclky. And if you bad mouth the church your gone.

Scientology runs alot of shit in Hollywood.
  • gocitizen
    ahh, helll nooo.
a gift test? Any cult that gives a test is always bad. Those Scientologists should know that. At least the Heaven's Gatoligists had cool unis and some quarters for video games.

I hope that the crew from TDK at least got a batwatch or something.
  • 790
    Batwatch , lmao.!

They were prob given Gothamy bibles, a secret handshake and possibly a wooden owl-bat for protection.
Along with the TDK crew shirts and ballcaps. But I'm just guessing?
  • Donkey Punch
I was clicking PAST Ellen and I saw Will Smith on it and was curious to see what he had to say. Honest, lol. Ellen drives me nuts.

I work in the film industry in Canada and I know a few Scientologists. They are all arrogant pricks that smugly think they are better than everyone else. They actually believe it makes them smarter.
  • 790
Haha no I was just joking around Donkey Punch. I've done the same thing. ;-)

I prob shouldn't go down this road but...............
Since its late and most people on this site I think agree with me on this,,,,,,

    Donkey Punch,
I like you, also work in the biz but in Hollywood the west coast captial of Scientology. Its also the west coast capital of gays, homeless and wannbees.
Sorry San Fran we got you beat on the gays. (I have NO problem with gays, don't get me wrong). Just making a point.

But yeah I've had to work around scientologists and I've seen how they treat those that fall under there spell and believe that bullshit. Sad thing is alot of young adults get involved and then their children get sucked into this world of lies and become slaves to this group. (I've seen it firsthand).

One rule of business that alot of people know when dealing with Scientology is to get your money (up front), cause they don't like to pay. They weasel there way out and sometimes just tell folks to come get it.
They have a army of lawyers that makes thay a long drawn out process.
Their as evil as a satanic cult if not one anyway. Allways demand your money upfront if you have to deal with them.

I really do think less of Smith and Cruise.
    There both weak minded people.
That also get-off on being treated like royalty.
I have more tolorance for Smith, but if he is giving out "stress tests" at the wrap party, he's changing into a full-on scientology dickhead!
You can find those same tests in any Scientology building lobby or laundry mat.

And like I've said earlier Scientology has donated alot of cash to Obama campaign.

Ok that's enough....... Sorry everyone that wants to stay on topic. just trying to inform. ;-)
  • It's just a movie. I don't give a f*ck if there are Scientologists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhisms, Germans, Canadians, Aliens or bikes in it.

Lets just have a good time watching it. And if you don't want to throw money into scientology then risk something and check your local p2p (although I think that this is highly illegal).
  • Donkey Punch
Marc do you enjoy your job working for the PR firm that is handling Hancock? :p
  • rick
