Man, I so tire of that “passenger of car unaware of object just outside window hurtling towards them” shot that has been replicated endlessly after Adaptation, though I almost recall it originating in an episode of Law and Order where they killed off Jill Hennessy (but maybe there was a cut to outside the cars for the collision?). Stealing from genius is easy, sure, but it doesn’t make you look any better. So many other films and tv shows have ripped it off. In fact, I just saw it swiped and used in SL8N8. Same with the “stage right bus collision” that, I think, was created in the first Final Destination and has since been used in film, tv and commercials without shame.

They kind of gave up the whole plot in the trailer. But it’ll be fun to watch high-speed car fights.

I always preferred Fulci’s THE NEW GLADIATORS to RUNNING MAN, especially since it came out about three years before the Arnie flick.

oh. and by the way…this movie looks like a failure. THe action looks cool but where’s the homage to the source material? Where’s the random violence, the crazy characters, the ridiculous cars and the twisted humour? Nope. It’s a straight down the line serious cliched action flick.

Play it safe. Someone might complain.

It’s weird…The original story for Running Man took place on the streets, but was changed to a prison for the film. The original Death Race took place in the streets and is being remade in a prison. However, the cheezy one-liners and crazy characters and action in the Running Man were just like the originals in Death Race 2000..

If only someone would go out and make a combination of the two, you’d have an instant classic!

This looks pretty bad IMO but one thing that Anderson does deserve credit for: From the looks of the trailer there seems to be more practical effects than CGI which has a refreshing feel to it. Unfortunately not even a bottle of Fabreeze can save this movie from it’s stale dialog and it’s stinking bastardization of the cheesy classic source material.

oh for the love of god, if you couldn’t work out the plot from the first few seconds the bit where they actually reveal the plot then you’re an idiot. seriously, this film is not about plot it’s about racing and big guns and hot women navigators. Just like playing Carmageddon back in day. Why did we play it,? Well we loved to run people over, crash and blow stuff up. This film is just an extension of that. Why do people comment on films when it’s obvious what the film is trying to do. This is just a sit back and enjoy the violence film, not some amazing story that has some complicated story that must be told. If you like stuff being blown up and there is bound to be a whole host of corny one liners then you’ll probably like this.

Needless to say i do think Anderson’s films kind of suck, but i like Statham and Love Joy, so for that i’m in.

Interesting marketting move - putting the entire film on the net. I’m glad the studios have finally given up. I’ll wait for them to make Richard Morgan’s “Market Forces.”

Those female prisoners are making that “Women in Chains” project look pretty good. I think if they would have scrapped the cars and the dudes, and added mud or Crisco, this movie would be awesome.
