Though I’m in the minority of actually getting some enjoyment out of the 2004 Punisher, I’m definitely NOT a Jane lover or a Ray hater. I didn’t even know who Jane was until that movie! And I can’t make a decision about Ray until the movie comes out in December, so…

And to illuminate on what I meant by the “lighthearted” comment… Did everybody forget that Frank’s entire family is gunned down, elderly and children alike? True, they don’t show blood spraying everywhere but showing the actual acts of violence doesn’t always = Darkness. I think it was done tastefully while still being intense (admittedly Mad Max-like at the same time when Frank’s wife and son get run over)

There was also a guy that got sliced right down the head, one of the apartment tenants got his piercings ripped out (implied yes, but there were people who flinched at it) and Saint’s wife gets run over by a freaking train. Alot of the action is sort of goofy, but not too over the top that the violence is as ridiculous as something like Evil Dead.

I do like the 2004 movie yes, and I hope that I’ll LOVE Punisher War Zone. :)

Don’t label me as a Ray hater however, because I truly truly hope his acting skills shine in War Zone. Our $10.00 are on the line here.

First, I’m setting my crosshairs on you, “Mike”, the crud-for-brains idiot who says that a female can’t “understand” The Punisher. I hope you get sent back in time somehow because your stupidity doesn’t belong in this day and age.
If the movie fails, its not because she’s a female, its because her directing skills just weren’t polished enough.

Secondly, all the slack-jawed dorks that actually think the 2004 film is akin to a tame “family film”? How stupid could you get? The 2004 film, while flawed in many many ways, was anything but a lighthearted romp (YES it had its moments of light heartedness, but as a whole, it was a very dark movie; for crying out loud, its implied many times that children are being slaughtered during the massacre of Frank’s family)

Punisher War Zone, regardless whether or not Ray Stevenson’s hair in this looks bad, could possibly turn out to be a really satisfying thrill ride of an action movie. Its very true that this first trailer was almost unanimously considered to be unexciting, however, its not indicative of the movie as a whole. (they don’t even properly show the villain, Jigsaw, for cryin’ out loud!)

For the record, I did enjoy the 2004 film to an extent, and am currently waiting to see War Zone when December rolls around.

Punisher rocks & this will be the best with Ray - I bet you all liked Superman returns - now that sucked!

From the start, they should not have a female director for the Punisher.

Why is 2004 Punisher always on the minds of people who have watched it?

The reason is — It is a memorable movie and that equals good or quite good.
