It seems unnatural of me for zombies to run.

BUT they should have creative ways of quickly reaching people, ie falling on them from the rafters. their slowness is balanced by their numbers, unrelentlessness, and complete disregard for personal well-being.

Honestly, I don’t mind a bit of diversity in my zombies, so running/walking/crawling/paddling, I like ‘em all.

But with regards to Romero’s quote, there’s no reason a fresh corpse couldn’t run.

I think its time George Romero ends his zombie stuff. It seems that every other movie these days has something to do with zombies. It’s taken all the fun out of it and has killed my interest in zombies. There needs to be a final movie where they finally discover a way to prevent the dead from returning as zombies. I remmeber when Day of the Dead came out in 1985. All the articles I read on it claimed that this was “the final chapter in G.R.’s zombie trilogy.” Well since that trilogy has “ended” we’ve had a Dawn of the Dead remake (which was way to computer generated) Land of the Dead and now Diary of the Dead. If you go to the nearest Blockbuster and browse through the horror section, you’ll see SOMETHING of the Dead all through it. There is one called Gangs of the Dead which was hardly worth the rental fee. And there are tons more just like them. I say let’s END the zombie saga once and for all to prevent further bastardizations of the zombie saga from happening.

He should of quit while he was ahead. That movie was so bad it wasnt funny it wasnt good it just plain and simple sucked ass.

you are all retarded. zombies have been brought about in so many
different ways. take them for what they are, fictional creatures. Romero is amazing and he is, in fact, the godfather of zombies, but that doesn’t mean he is right or wrong. the point is, who fucking cares? zombies kick ass no matter what they do.
- night, dawn: the beginning, “standard zombies”
- day of the dead: controversy aside, Bub is fucking awesome.
- dead alive: deteriorating, baby having, rat-monkey-bite zombies.
- bio-zombie: finger-tempura-roll-eating, chemical soda zombies.
- cemetary man: rise-from-grave, talking, loving,, motorcycle-riding, severed head zombies.
- 28 days: “rage”-infected, abnormally-fast running zombies.
- versus: mystical-resurrection-forest zombies.
- fido: six-foot zombie pet.
- zombi 2: swimming, shark-battling zombi? hmm.
etc. etc. etc.

point being: zombies have ran, walked, ridden motorcycles, shot guns, danced, swam, made sushi, fought sharks, talked, fallen in love, and they have even fucked and created little mischievious-zombie-demon babies! who fucking cares if they run or walk as long as i have a shitload of ammo when they do.

Zombies cant learn to do anything. Like flying out windows or scaling buildings. They posess only the character traits of the person they had been before reanimation. just with stamina to die for.

28 days/weeks is a different take on zombies. They are not the same because they “technically” are infected before they turn and dont die before hand.

George is the godfather of zombies, while Danny Boyle is the prodical son

Ok, lol, I had to put my two cents in here lol. Romero WAS a great director for his time with zombie movies. He did define the genre. He started it all people, without him we wouldnt have the zombie movies we do now. He deserves all the gratitude. Point stated.

Now, back in the early days when everything was in black and white and people had never seen anything like this, yeah that was some scary ass shit. But realistically, his movies from then dont do shit for anyone now. Not scary sorry. I know the thing is dead and all that, yadda yadda yadda, but it moves slow as all hell people, it aint scary if I can run circles around it, and then I fall for some sudden reason because I didnt see the damn rock sitting there that is always there because I am so scared of the 2 mile an hour zombies that are grandma walking towards me lol, come on. Just go in your house and lock the doors lol. Stock up on groceries and you are fine lol. Oh, I am sorry they will break down your door and come in after you right? That leads me to my next point.

If a zombie that cant run because they will break their ankles, because Romero said so, and he is the godfather of zombies, who says they can beat on doors without there hands breaking off, or grab at you without there hands breaking off, or better yet bite you or eat you without there jaws falling off or teeth falling out. Lol, makes no sense what he saying. Also like the posters above said, they eat on instinct because they are DEAD, so every part of them is dead right? Organs and all right? SO what makes there stomachs still work? Oh please you all dont say nothing about there brains, they are dead, so why in the hell do we have to shoot them in there heads, there brains aint working lol. SO basically shooting them in their heads should feasibly be useless also right lol. I mean dead means no organs work lol.

Someone said there is a difference between the infected (28 days, 28 weeks later, I am Legend, and so on) and zombies (Dawn, Day, and Night of the living dead and so on) I am sorry correct me if I am wrong didnt they have some chemical that brought them back to life? Then that would also mean that they were infected by some means also right? Maybe not like the 28 movies but at some sense they are.

Look, if a zombie is dead, and some chemical brings him back to life, and he crawls out of a grave and goes to kill people then no he shouldnt be able to run. But, at the same time, he shouldnt be able to dig himself out of a grave lol. Maybe if he walked out of a morgue or something then yeah but he would just litterally just fall apart everytime he did something lol.

Point being, if he cant run, he shouldnt be able to do anything. Yes, I have read World War Z and cant wait until they make the damn movie lol. But, scary then is way different then scary is now. A slow ass zombie was great then but aint now. To me, 28 movies and the such or way scarier, better, and way more likely to happen then some damn decomposing corpse to come back to life. I mean I can actually picture a terrorist nation coming up with a virus that just makes you into a “ZOMBIE” and yes that is what they are. They are basically just another form acting on aggression. No difference just they are super aggressive and far more scarier. Oh and they run because of the aggression lol.

And lets not forget that makes a way better movie now a days because it is way more feasible and that inturn makes it way more scarier lol…… Anthony

Yes, see that goes right along with my assessment of zombies. Day of the Dead featured “BUB”, a zombie who was taught to do tricks like shoot guns and saulting and answering a telephone, which is preposterous because in Dawn of the Dead, the tv announcer says “they have seemingly little or NO reasoning power”. It goes on to say that zombies are driven primarily by instinct. To suggest that we could “teach” them not to eat people is ridiculous. At this point, i’m confused as to exactly what zombies CAN and CANNOT DO. There seems to be inconsitancies between all of the zombie movies, to a degree.

i saw romero on that old john favereau show, “dinner for five” - please don’t ask me why i watched that smug pat myself on the back while a minority serves us expensive food, show.

but anyways, i got the impression that while romero is the godfather of the walking dead, he isn’t one to conceed an opinion he believes in. in fact i’d be surprised if the cat ever admits failure.

zombies - LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE ON THIJS PLANET - evolve, so yes they do in fact run. shame on him for bringing logic into this world.

By the way, the first ten minutes of 28 Weeks Later is scarier then anything Romero has ever done. So running zombies (I know they’re technically not zombies) running zombies are my fav.

Night and dawn are still the best zombie movies.

the remake is also awesome probably one of the best remakes ever.

Diary was very good and a re imagination of Night

28 Days Later was awesome but I was not a fan of weeks as I like plot and characters in my zombie movies instead of just zombie holocaust
