Jetfire in Transformers 2

Topherlyon over at the Transformers Live Action Blog was able to snap a few photos while visiting the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, including this photo of Jetfire.

Michael Bay's PlaneAs we told you last week, production of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen has moved on to the space center for a scene which takes place about an hour into the film. The scene involves Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), Mikaela Banes (Megan Fox), Sam’s college roommate/friend Leo (Ramon Rodriguez), and Sector 7 Agent Simmons (John Turturro) breaking into the museum after hours. They find a SR-71 Blackbird, which turns out to be Jetfire, an autobot who had an early alliance with the Decepticons. Head on over to the TLAMB for more photos including a photo of Michael Bay’s private plane (seen right) which actually sports an Autobot logo on the side of the tail.

Jetfire was one of the best Transformers in the original series. I am so glad to see him in the sequel. It is kinda funny though how he looks exactly like the Blackbird from X-Men. Coincidence? I think not.

i can only imagine how amazing jetfire will look in this film. another good thing to remember is that jetfire’s personal story/history has some real drama and depth to it. more complex than just the basic ‘vs.’ concept. i’m normally patient for movies to come out, but with this one i’m soooooooo glad this is a 2009 film, i can’t wait!!!!

Thank you for informing me early enough.
I do think that this movie is nothing for me to watch. The plot and the characters seem to be better suited for male audience with a geeky mind.

who cares what characters are in this movie.
they are all cgi robots with no personality.

this is going to be the closet we’ll see the macross valkyrie (robotech veritech) in a live action film. honestly, i dont remember if jetfire transformed like the macross valkyrie but the toy mecha was made exactly the same.

Hey, stupid question: I live down the road from the museum and wanted to check it out, but I got derailed by work. Anyone know if they’ll be shooting there going into this week?

or funny how the X-Men Blackbird looks just like a real “Blackbird”? I don’t understand this comment.

  8. Gravatar

Huh, all I’m seeing is a Blackbird. Where’s “Jetfire”?

  9. Gravatar

Hahahaha..that’s just the blackbird at the museum…wow….seriously..It’s just part of an actual museum..

    Gregory,

He transformed like the other jets found in the Transformers. I think the Valkryie transformation modes were a legal no-no from the Macross folk. Even though they did okay the look for the cartoon and Valkrie toy molding for the original toys.

“this is going to be the closet we’ll see the macross valkyrie (robotech veritech) in a live action film.”

Um, a live action robotech movie is being pre-produced right now by tobey mcguire’s production company.

I love Jetfire/Skyfire. My favourite besides Bumblebee. I was wondering when he’d show up :D

Damn, I might have to go see this movie now… For what will probably be a total of two minutes of seeing the Blackbird/Jetfire.

Did anyone else notice that his plane has the same tail number as blackout in the original movie? The only difference is that his plane has a N at the beginning.

“I think the Valkryie transformation modes were a legal no-no from the Macross folk.”

It was a legal no-no from Takara actually. Takara didn’t want any of the non-Takara toys animated (Jetfire, Whirl, Roadbuster, deluxe Insecticons, to name a few).

    Ignorance is bliss.

Yeah i noticed it. But big Deal. The Star Trek Enterprise Naval Commissioning Code of (NCC-1701) 1701 was Roddenberry’s Tail Number on his Plane when he was flying off the Enterprise Carrier in WWII. Lot of Directors make little things like that personal to them. A Sort of Inside joke that only they and those close to them get or understand until it becomes known.

Funny part about the SR-71 Blackbird is that it was made 40+ years ago and still looks like something out of Buck Rogers.

I find it kind of funny:
Bay’s plane not only sports the Autotots’ logo, but wasn’t
4500x the number on Blackout’s tail?
    :D
