The big screen adaptation of Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code prequel, Angels & Demons is now filming in Rome and Trovacinema.it was there to catch Tom Hanks in action as Robert Langdon, and Ron Howard directing the cast and crew.

The Da Vinci Code made over $750 million worldwide, despite largely negative reviews (25% on Rotten Tomatoes). It should be noted that the general public and particularly fans of the book seemed to enjoy it more (6.4 rating on imdb). I’ve always found The Da Vinci Code to be overrated. BUT, Angels & Demons is a far better and more interesting read. It’s a classic race against time to find a hidden bomb in the Vatican and hunt down a serial killer in Rome. The reason why this story is more interesting to me is the multi-layered debate about which is to be trusted - science or religion. But like The Da Vinci Code, I’m not sure if the action in the story will translate well to the big screen.
Angels & Demons is scheduled to hit theaters on May 15th 2009.

Does the book talk about the Queen Spider that dwells within the Vatican?

Angels & Demons might be a more interesting read, but its ending is absolutely ridiculous. I basically read the book in just 2 or 3 days and was so disappointed after I had finished.
And that respect, the 2nd novel was definitely better.

i feel like it should be noted that this is tom hank’s first ever sequel (apart from toy story).

His hair is shorter so it must be better the Da Vinci.

Praise the lord! It looks like Hanks has finally admitted defeat in the bad hair war he’s been conducting with Nic Cage.
I wonder when Nic will be notified of the ceasefire.

The second book was better but will the second movie be better then the first? Ron Howard rarely disapoints so im willing to give him a second chance. lol @ at the Tom Hanks hair comments that horrid mop he called hair was defiantly one of the most irritating things of the movie.

Forget this. They should make a movie out of The Phantom Tollbooth. That would rule all.

Angels and Demons was a great book. The ending was a bit over reality but it was still fun to read!

I always thought John Lithgow would have made a better choice for the lead character…

A&D is a far more thrilling story and has a great climax, which was non esistant in Da Vinci code. DC movie was a slow paced even though the book was more thrilling

Could not agree more about Angels & Demons being a better book, so much more tense and enthralling.

Tom Hanks’ only sequel? You call yourselves movie buffs? Haven’t you seen Joe vs. the Volcano 2??? Pure cinematic genius.

DEFINATELY found angels and demons more interesting.

Your story has a typo. It says they are NOT filming in Rome. I think you meant “now” instead of “not”.

What Van Gogh is doing in the second picture?

I saw and read the Da Vinci Code. OK book. Then I read Angels and Demons—much, much better read. The movie should prove an even better story. I disagree with anyone who says A & D is not the Da Vinci Code……..it isn’t BUT it was a much more interesting book.
The movie should prove this….I hope!!!
